The world will never be used to having magic and humans in it. Humans, and anyone born without magic, will never be used to the fact that there are creatures all around them who can do things they can never hope to. But humans can be ingenious creatures and alchemy is slowly taking its stand in the world. It takes a brilliant mind to understand how to properly mix magic and science and thus far, no one's really been able to do it very well.

This sparks a competition and feud between alchemists and born magic users, both trying to foil and outdo one another to prove to the world that they are right and the other is wrong. Alchemy believes magic is simply a twist of science and can that spells and other magics can be recreated through scientific methods. Magic users argue that science merely makes faked copies of magic and can not be used as easily as magic.

So begins the cold war of magic against machines.

Characters
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
User ImageName: Lyssolette Lerenn (Witch)
Personality: Lyssolette is independent and finicky. She doesn't do anything the way normal witches do and she can be very demanding. She doesn't bother with anything she sees as mundane and is practically incapable of subtlety.
Bio: Lyssolette is a witch who prefers to live above the average norms of society. Alchemists bore her and she sees no point in anything they do, she thinks they run around in tried tracks and are completely blind. Of course, she thinks that about everyone else too. She doesn't mind being tough and bossy to get what she wants. She hates it when people talk to her and keep switching to compare her eyes. She figures if someone is so stupid that they can't figure out that her eyes are different colors within the first few seconds that they aren't worth her time. If they can't even focus on what she's saying instead of her eye color why should she bother?
Other: Lyssolette often goes to the market place to buy the herbs she doesn't have or find new spells that might be worth trying. The shop keepers know her well and some are even fond of her tough-loner attitude. Lyssolette seems to make friends whether she wants to or not. She specializes in water magic but she likes to dabble in ley lines.
In Addition: (To be filled)
User Image
Name: Adric Gyrn (Alchemist)
Personality: Adric is extremely curious and very brilliant. His curiosity moves him to explore the limits of mankind and move past them. He often comes across as condescending, especially when asked to explain something. He loves to help people and he loves to talk to people.
Bio: Adric had always had a brilliant mind and he saw connections many other people didn't. Alchemy was, at the time, the obvious choice for Adric to turn to. He sees no reason why witches and alchemists should fight and frankly doesn't understand why they feel they need to. Well, he understands it, it just doesn't make sense to him. Adric has already created many inventions but none of them have any magical properties, yet.
Other: Adric wants to be friends with everybody and is generally a well tempered person. Though it takes a lot to really upset him, when he is angry he has a tendency to lash out and say the very things that will hurt a person most. He feels deplorable afterwords.
In Addition: (To be filled)
User ImageName: Joshua Willis (Alchemist)
Personality: Very flirtatious, outgoing, exuberant towards nearly anyone. its only when girls like him does he become a shy boy. He tends to get angry at the mention of his hair color, it being an accident. He's very unmotivated to do things and only gets motivated if something strikes him odd, thus he's the lowest rank of alchemists possible, a student.
Bio: When he was born the mid-wife told his mom to smother him, because he was a small and pale child. After that his mom was sad and apologized for letting him be born without spirit, so to show spirit, he started talking, a lot. However if there was one thing his socialization never helped him with, it was alchemy. He joined a school thinking it sounded fun and it'd be an easy grade, but alas, he struggles to pass. This is because he doesn't find making the facts work, he enjoys proving things with facts, and machines are a waste of time. However he still does build, sometimes out of boredom, though they seem to be small things like toy trains or toy things in general. But he doesn't mind socializing. However as a child a girl kissed him on the cheek which has since then made him horribly shy of girls.
Other: His hair color and the 'freckles' on his face are from two bad alchemical reactions, one changed his once brown hair to orange, and the other gave him the black dotted freckles, which, since he's no memory of how he got them, claims them to be either permanent oil marks or burn scars.
User ImageName: Amari Swolfkein
Personality: Her words stab you, and not purposefully, just because she finds lies bothersome and stressing. Aside from being blunt she's observant. She's actually a people pleaser, even if her words make them hate her and she's rather loyal to anyone in a superior position than she is. However she is known to succumb to her emotions and angrily throw books.
Bio: Amari was born to a middle class family of magic, and finds that the argument between alchemists and magic-users is stupid and irrelevant to moving forward. People describe her as average, bookworm, and nerdy because she spends her time in the library and has an average social life outside of it if someone manages to drag out out of the building. To prove her point that alchemists and humans weren't so different, she created a few smaller versions of machines they built, and refuses to use any major magic unless in a dire consequence. Smaller magics are acceptable, because humans now created robots to help them do things, even if they lack intelligence.
Other: She claims her hat shows her inner spirit and claims all witches hats do. As to whether this is true or not many people question. However if it is the case Amari isn't a force to be reckoned with. Also she hides abandoned kittens in her hat and takes them home. She has become that lady with a million cats. It's a miracle she's never covered in fur.
User Image
Name: Lawrence Bellium (Human)
Personality: Lawrence tends to do whatever she likes whenever she wants. She ignores society and does whatever makes her happy. She follows rules when they suit her. She isn't brave and in a dangerous situation she would hide unless there was something to be gained from charging in like an idiot. She can be a little spacey and often talks to herself in a way that seems like she's talking to whoever is near her or talks to whoever is near her as if she were talking to herself.
Bio: Lawrence was adopted by a lonely old witch. The witch was a Council Member but died soon after Lawrence turned fifteen. Lawrence was a good student for the old woman and learned everything she knew. Meaning, she knew more than any human should about witches and even knew things that many witches aren't privy to. She now makes her fame working for the witches, improving their tools or creating new spells using her knowledge of witchcraft. She has connections all over the town and as far as anyone knows all over the world. She spends her free time proving or disproving theories about mythical creatures.
Other: Lawrence is Lyssolette's best, if not only, friend. The same could be said in reverse seeing as Lawrence tends to be quite the hermit, often disappearing from society for weeks or months at a time. Using a super computer that she built with knowledge of alchemy and witchcraft she hunts down fantasy creatures. No one actually knows if she's successful and many don't believe this computer even exists since no one's ever actually seen it, as with many of the things she claims to have made.
User ImageName: Valekrin Dantrey
Personality: When he's not working he's a fun loving, hungry man. He spends his time in unscrupulus places and is friendly and easy to get along with, which means it's easy for him to get information. When he is working he's always cracking jokes or making up puns. If it's a big job he's usually silent the whole time.
Bio: Valekrin grew up in a small town with no adventure. When he first started being a bounty hunter he had only his spells and realized quickly that he would need physical stamina to actually catch up to his targets. He usually uses magic only to put his targets to sleep once he's caught them and uses what is basically a water gun to shoot them with the sleeping potion. He's forgotten most of the spells and potions he grew up learning and is stronger than most witches he's ever met and is even a good match up in a fist fight against alchemists.
Other: Valekrin likes cats.
User Image Name: Kimmie Andleblock
Personality: Kimmie is a surprisingly dominating woman, enjoying anyone who submits to her, but here lies the problem, when any of her subjects leaves, she's vengeful and tries to get them back. She believes anyone who subjects to her is her pawn, and she is the queen. She was known to court men and turn them into pets at one point, however after losing one pet to a witch, however, she became hateful and has decided to hunt down the witch who stole her favorite pet away.
Bio: Her father is an alchemistic pharmacist, finding cures for all sort of diseases, thus Kimmie herself became very wary of diseases. To help her father find cures she had to find places were diseases existed, what better place than a whore house? However she got more than she intended to get, since she was awful young. The woman in charge led her to a teenager much older than her, and seemed broken mentally in more ways then one. This woman slowly transformed Kimmie's mind, and the older male became her favorite man in the house, though he was surprisingly clean, after taking him to her father. However years passed and he first quit the house to go on with life, but visited often, but recently he stopped and Kimmie at first claimed it to be sickness. In the end, she learned he had been seeing a witch from another customer.
Other: Her pet was Joshua, and how she wishes her pet to come back and wishes Lyssolette dead. She knows little to nothing on witches, however.
User ImageName: Luke Hielo-Armand
Personality: Luke is surprisingly very polite, a gentleman, and cheerful about quite a few things and can even be described as a sweetheart if not the most wanted member of the Rose Family. However he has a giant fear of dogs going so far as to freeze himself to avoid them. Cats aren't any better, they all seem to hate him. He's calm about everything though and tries to find one thing to like about everyone. He seems to be the family's diplomat whereas his cousin is the head of the family.
Bio: Luke had originally been born to the third family of the Rose with a very small chance of surviving because his body was so cold. When they tried to warm him up, however, the baby screamed as though they were killing him, which in a sense they were. As a small child he wanted to be like his cousin and tried very hard to master the holy spells the elder was using, only to fail significantly. His first failure had him go crying, and accidentally locking himself in an ice box, but he found it to be comfortable and slept in there. As he grew he had to settle many disputed between his second cousins Sydney and Roselius which led to him being a mediator and soon a diplomat. As he grew he wasn't unaware of the girls chasing him, but he's much to shy to face them so uses an excuse to avoid them. he's gone so far as to throw his bachelor cousin at them and run. Now he's traveled to western Ireland to see the problem of hunters and to see if he can establish a magical trade of sorts.
Other: A small quirk however is that he can fall asleep almost anywhere, and he dislikes the heat, but can easily tolerate it because majority of his attacks are ice based. Luke is known to keep a bag of ice which has been enchanted to never melt.He can also draw, which took years of practice to obtain.
Lyssolette Lerenn wandered through the marketplace with an expression that was not a scowl but was not quite neutral. It wasn't an unconscious expression, she was almost annoyed by the change of the order of the stalls but not quite enough to really glare at them. It was more organized this way but there had been absolutely no warning that this would happen. Lyssolette hated it when she had no warning about the things that were regular in her life. It wasn't hard to get used to the new layout and it was more efficient but, well, she just hadn't been informed, and as a regular at the markets, she felt she should somehow have been notified. At least as a side comment while she haggled. She watched the people wander around in the same way they did every day, stupid creatures. Didn't they know there were other things to do?
She smacked her staff into the ground as she stopped in front of a shopkeepers stall. He smiled wide at her. She often came here.
"Show me interesting things." She demanded in a cool, almost bored tone. It was how she always greeted him. Unless she wanted something else from him. He greeted her in the boring way that most people do and his eyes kept flashing to her chest as he laid some new wares of his in front of her. Lyssolette didn't care if he looked but if he tried to make any sort of move on her she'd take her staff and wipe his face with it.
Adric Geyrn hurried through the market place. He was thrown off a bit by the layout at first but then found that the only stalls he ever visited had been tactfully placed together since they had to do with the same sorts of things. Great!
"Good afternoon," He greeted a shopkeeper exchanged pleasant banter as he was comparing brass and copper wires. Copper wires were better for conducting electricity and brass wires would hold great properties for fire he supposed. "Do you have silver wires?" He asked. Silver showed up in a lot of the documents about magic. It would make sense to wire his machines parts in with silver, though it was a horrible conductor for electricity it might do just as he planned for magic.
Adric continued to browse the other things at her stall and moved to the next. He wanted to use copper plates if he was going to use silver wires.
Amari & Joshua
Gray eyes browsed through the small and yellowed pages of an equally small book. The writing inside was scribbled and abbreviated tothe point it made little to no sense except for the reader. And if to make matters worse the witch wasn't using the proper names, but the abbreviated names she had written down. "Tkgso, ftnrn, thtnozpk." She continued to mutter, walking down the market. It didn't bother her that the market was actually segregated, Alchemists on one end, magic-users on the other, it was only toward the middle of the market where they clashed, because similar elements such as minerals and plants is what they both needed. She looked into her basket before glancing down at the book, using her finger to cross the names ff. "All I need is tfrgsvr." She looked up at the crowd around the mineral shop. Getting what she wanted would be hard, but like them she pushed her way through, or tried to. Most alchemists were men, and she couldn't shove through all these people, her clothes kept getting snagged on their unholy belts and jewelry. She finally managed to make it to the counter, her overly large hat skewed and crooked on her head, but she was composed despite looking like she had been in a war. "I need twenty-four grams of silver, powder, and in paper wrapping. After that I need an iron rated fourteen on the scale. Then i need two kilograms of sodium, preferably in their rock form." she demanded loudly over the other voices, some witches, other alchemists. This was horrid.
Joshua himself was bored, wandering through the market aimlessly, his friends had abandoned him somewhere back there, though they called him an idiot for not knowing why. "But this part of the market is really quiet, and sorta weird feeling." He mused aloud, looking around at the stalls. They were all dressed funny, especially the girls. They were all wearings hats with large brims and...and... "O-Oh...now I know why they abandoned me." The green eye glanced back, now making the alchemist realize he was lost. Did witches and wizards use the same currency as alchemist? Their town seemed to be an entire different part of their town, but they were in the same country, so they did use the same currency, right? He darted into an alley way and peeked out, this was bad? Why didn't they tell him he was wandering too far. "I have a date in an hour, how am I supposed to make it in time when I'm lost on the weirdos side of the spectrum." This wasn't good, some friends they were, letting him walk into this side of town. I have class later tonight, what if I don't make it home by then?! he stared at the dumper bin in horror, sliding down the wall. "There has to be a way out of here without getting caught." Maybe he could flirt with the women, but all witches hated alchemists! And he wasn't even a good one. "Maybe i can come off as ignorant?"
"Wrong," Lyssolette admonished the foolish alchemist, "You are ignorant."
Lyssolette leaned lazily against her staff at the mouth of the alley. The almost scowl on her face earlier had become a glare. She'd watched this stupid man dash into the alley, so had many others. She was the only one bored enough to approach him.
"What are you doing here?" Lyssolette asked without any indication she was going to. "You couldn't be shopping," Her eyes narrowed in a mockery of a smile, "Our merchandise will do you no good."
Ignorant little alchemist, stumbling around like a child. How long had it taken him to figure out where he was? Awhile, Lyssolette assumed, he was pretty deep into magic territory. Idiot.
"I'm afraid I bought the last of their rock sodium," Again, Adric thought as he smiled apologetically at the girl with her strange book. He caught sight of some of the words on the page and they all seemed to be random abbreviations of words so that they probably hadn't even done the writer any good. Well, not that it was hard to figure out. How many words had the letters thtnozpk in that order?
Continuing to be friendly to the witch Adric offered, "I can certainly spare two kilograms of the stuff though, if you don't mind accepting it from an alchemist."
He was aware of the self made tension between alchemists and magic-users. In that, most alchemists hated magic-users, and vice versa. Though he didn't care at all, he tried to be careful around witches, lest he annoy them. He didn't particularly want to get cursed.
The male looked up at the hetero-chromatic girl with a startled look on his face. "That's a pretty scary look on your face, sweetie. You don't want it to stay that way do you?" He asked, voice as smooth as silk, even though his stomach had clenched at the witch. Joshua had been so absorbed in his thoughts he hadn't noticed her at all. Odd, considering her ever so revealing attire, a small feast for his eyes. "Well i was shopping when my friends seemed to have abandoned me." he stood up, dusting off his clothes , brushing his bangs out of his face. "If you'd be so kind to lead me to the Middle Market I'll buy you somethign nice. Perhaps somethign to match those gorgeous eyes of yours." He just had to sweet-talk his way out of this girl's wrath.
The witch looked over to the alchemist, his face showing he was sorry. "Well as long as you know what you did was wrong, I can borrow some. I would have borrowed some anyways despite your disposition." She caught his eyes lingering toward her book and she closed it shut with a smile. "You would not have been able to decipher it, they're abbreviations only I understand, dearest alchemist. Now let us move out of the crowd so that they may consider their own transactions." Amari could feel the glares and daggers from both persons, alchemists and magic-users alike. She was being friendly, most would scream or yell or ignore the other all together. She needed the sodium, not that she had a thing against alchemists, but she was willing to become his best friend if that's what it took to get two kilograms of sodium.
Lyssolette tossed her head back and laughed as she leaned against her staff. She looked back at him as if he were an amusing rat. "You've got some nerve, lowly alchemist, to be flirting with a witch of my status." She turned around and started walking back into the crowd. "Luckily for you I have business in Middle Market, and I will permit you to follow me, as long as you keep up, Lowly Alchemist." If it hadn't recently become illegal to hex people upon first meeting them, the Lowly Alchemist would already be a roach. Damn bureaucrats.
Lyssolette walked off into the crowd toward Middle Market without waiting to see if the Lowly Alchemist was following.
Adric smiled and followed her out of the way. Actually, he'd already read the recipe. Abbreviations were never hard to figure out for someone like him. He dug out 2 and a half kilograms of the sodium rock and handed it to her. Should he let her know he'd been able to read her notes? Well, he doubted he'd cross her path again, he may as well admit to it.
"I think two and a half kilograms will better suit the purposes of you mixture." The mixture had looked to him to be more machine than it was magic. How fascinating. The witch must be a dabbler. He liked dabblers. "It'll produce a more instantaneous reaction, making the reaction faster and easier to catch hold of. A half kilogram more is always better for such things, I've discovered." He had learned this early in his alchemical studies and quite incensed his teacher until he proved it.
"But it's just that, a status, my beautiful witch. We are all but humans, we bleed the same color." Joshua explained. "And I may be a lowly alchemist, but children appreciate my works." Considering all he could make were children's toys, anything larger tended to explode or not work. That was because he didn't know how to do the whole if you're making it 3/4's bigger you need to add 3/4ths more and that sort of thing. he just guessed everything past the building stage. Powders, electricity, spells, that would explain everything. "Oh thank you, dearest angel--Wait!" She just walked off, like that. What a horrid girl, abandoning him in a sea of dangerous people, but she probably knew that. He moved quickly between the people trying to keep up with her overly-fast pace. She must really want to rid herself of me. He thought giving a laugh.
Amari took the stones and placed them in her basket, opening her coin purse to take out three silver's and a bronze, placing them in his hand. It wasn't as much as he paid for them, but he was giving them away for free, she felt he deserved some payment for charity. However when he mentioned the mixture she shifted her fingers on the book for a better grip, giving him a blank stare as he explained. She gave a polite smile before the edge corver of the book's spine jabbed him between the eyes, the witch already retracting her arm and analyzing it for blood. "It's best not to look at other's materials, Alchemist. it's rude. And i understand that mixture, i've already done it, but I need a slower reaction, thus the iron and the pork. Now please excuse me." She gave him one last smile before turning around and merging with the crowd back towards the Witch's market.
Lyssolette continued on through the crowd, smirking as she listened to his struggles behind her as he dove through the crowd to keep up with her. Bumbling fool, he didn't even know how to walk through the crowd. If you but hold your head high and walk with purpose the crowd opens itself for you. People can't help it. And what was that comment about being human? A witch was definitely not a human! A cat's blood was read, did that make her a cat? She was so much farther above humans. Just because a donkey and a horse could produce offspring didn't make them the same beast did it? So what if science showed that there were many disgusting human halflings. That didn't make them the same! She considered hopping onto her staff and flying over the crowd, just to leave him behind. But, she'd already made it to Middle Market and her desired stall was just ahead.
"Pain!" Adric complained and rubbed the red mark between his eyes as he watched the cute little witch walk off. Had that last smile been a smile of amusement? Or was it fondness at him for having cracked her code? At least he'd been able to slip the coins into her sleeve when he'd raised his hands to fend off the book. Adric wasn't the type of man to accept money for a gift. He turned back to the market and meandered closer to the Witch side of the market. He couldn't blend in, he smelled of machines, but he could study their wares and figure out what was missing from his alchemy. If only he could watch a witch work their magic! However, they heavily guarded their magics, and never did any spells in public. Nothing to do with incantations or mixtures anyway, not that he'd ever seen.
Joshua stumbled into the middle market, panting. "Man, you're pretty fast. You'd be great in track and field." he stood up fully and gave his lady killer grin, holding his hand out for her to shake. "I'm fully indebted to you for helping me out of the Witch's Market. I might still be in that alley talking to a dumpster had you not found the kindness in your heart to help me." Yet something told him her kindness was buried deep, deep, deep down inside of her magic using heart. But she had helped him, even if it was just for entertainment. "If you do not shake my hand I will be forced to make you something and deliver it to your beautiful self personally."
The pink haired witched frowned, moving to the side as a familiar looking face ran by. Turning she saw the witch dart into another crowd. "Excuse me! Sorry! Pardon! My bad!" a boy tried to politely shove past her before disappearing after the witch. There was no magic emanating from him, an Alchemist? In the Witch's Market? "How odd indeed." She caught movement and saw the blue haired alchemist from just moments ago. She'd stay and chat, but she had to head back into the town and enter the library.
With a tip of her hat she moved back into the crowds, exiting the market into the quiet streets of the town. She'd taken a few shortcuts in case the Alchemist followed her. It was a rule teachers at the academy taught, never let Alchemists follow you. But it was so hard when both Alchemists and Witches also used the grand library. The inside was open to the general public, but the outside had three entrances. The right, for the Alchemists, the center, for officials of both sides, and the left for Witches. It couldn't be avoided, and she opened the large door, silence and the smell of paper and ink filling her senses as well as the variety of beings. "Home sweet home."
Lyssolette frowned at him and his outstretched hand. "I shall not touch your hand." How barbaric! A lady shaking hands? Preposterous! Not with her upbringing! "And if you do appear at my house," Which she doubted even could happen, "Then I would have every right to turn you into a roach and let you suffocate under a cup full of cigar smoke." She smiled sadistically, "For trespassing."
Lyssolette turned around and continued inspecting a copper ring. Copper from Middle Market was always less tainted by the magic that could attach to copper. In the Witch Market, the copper was so filled with the magic it absorbed that even a salt dousing wouldn't get rid of all of it. But still, the copper would be tainted. Perhaps she would go to the Alchemist Market for it? Lyssolette figured she would have to head to the farthest reaches of the Alchemist Market to get untainted copper. Very well then.
She set the copper ring down and instead bought a silver chain. Slightly tainted silver was good.
Adric moved deeper into Witch Market. He slowed down to a simple meander and pretended he belonged there. A couple of people noticed him but too many were so busy going about their day that they took no notice. People were the same everywhere. As long as he didn't do anything to make himself stand out, no one would notice him. So he eavesdropped on snippets of conversation. Most of it was useless of course, just chatting over normal things that alchemists chatted over. The words they used were often different though, different slang, different swears, and different words were spoken normally among witches. Words that would make an alchemist pause in confusion. He loved it! He knew the segregation was wrong but he absolutely loved how different two cultures could be while still living among one another. It was exciting. It made his very neighbors exotic and foreign. It was like visiting a different country without the hassle of customs.
Of course, he also heard things that made him think. He heard witches discussing properties of metals and plants that he'd never seen in any books, the types of things that are only ever passed from mouth to mouth. He committed these things to memory, to study later.
"It's only covered in machinery oil. Your hand is probably covered in all sorts of things but I'm still willing to shake it." he teased, retracting his hand into his pocket, smiling while listening to her threat. He ended up chuckling, finding her threat rather humerous. "So that's not much of a punishment. You turn me into a roach I get a good view up that skirt. How thoughtful of you to let me suffocate happily." and continued to walk behind her, still smiling. Since she didn't want to shake, that resulted in making a toy. But what should he make for someone like her? Witches did have toys as children, right? He'd have to find out without being obvious. I'm not very good at being subtle. He thought.
He saw her stare at the copper wire for a while, peering over her shoulder, judging how close he could get before she might hit him, her hair smelled nice, that sort of thing before she ended up buying silver. Not what he expected, but she started moving again. "Hey, Witchling. Your market and home are that way, aren't they? Over there is the Alchemist Market." he called out, buying himself the copper rings instead before jogging after her. "Witchling, Witchie, Pretty Witch. Hey. Are you listening to me? No? I can see up your skirt when you walk faster." he continued to call out, ignoring the stares.
Damn that book limit in the library, damn that expensive fee for the pass into the back room full of the older books, better for studying though. She loved the smell of books and paper and ink. The rusting of papers, hands rubbing the leather, the worn pages of paper back studies. Oh how she loved them! She'd live in there forever if she could. "It's always so beautiful, and the pastries the vendor lady make are just as gorgeous." Se stared at the wrapped honey bun in her right hand while walking, having to cut back through the market to get home. The glisten of the glaze, the softness of the dough, the mouth-watering scent emanating from the freshly baked treat. It killed her to want to take a bite, it was so beauitful, so perfect. A faint meow caught her ears and she paused, head snapping back and forth looking for the sound before her boots moved.
It seemed as though no one else heard it, going about their marketing lives, gathering ingredients, trading powders. never potions, potions you had to buy directly at the homes for fear of alchemists stealing them. Would it be horrible if they found out? Perhaps, but perhaps it wouldn't be either. Amari lifted up an abandoned crate to find the orange and black splotched calico kitten. It gave another pathetic mewl green eyes looking at her. "You are so cute. Are you just cuteness in fur. The personification of cute, damn adorable you washed away my troubles at the library and their book limit." She stared a little longer, picking up the feline and placing it under her hat, giving it a piece of pork in hopes of silencing it until she got home. Suddenly a bitter scent caught her nose. Oil? She turned in time to see the blue haired alchemist meander by as if in a trance.Her shortcut home was that way. "Is he lost?" Or hexed, as illegal as it was.
Annoying fool. Lyssolette scowled. Why was he still pestering her? Though she supposed she was on his side of the market. Still, she doubted he had anything better to do than bother her. Didn't he know the dangers of pissing off a witch? Especially one like her. She thought about getting on her staff and flying off but he'd get a good flashing if she did that.
At that last bout of incessant yelling she turned around to glare at him. She knocked him on the side of the head with her staff.
"That's harassment." She reprimanded. "And I'd have to be as foolish as you not to know where I'm going. My business is my own, leave me alone."
She turned around, carefully, and resumed walking at a measured pace. She'd have to go all the way to the other side of the market to get the copper she wanted, and she'd need the right type of cloth to protect it from soaking up any spells.
Adric continued wandering around in the same direction. He heard a faint mewling and looked around for it but then it stopped and he moved on. He was catching near useless snippets but he was also learning quite a bit, but not enough. And he wasn't allowed into the Witch Library, not to the really good stuff anyway.
Adric sighed and looked around. That hat. He smiled, well if it wasn't that adorable witch from earlier. Had she seen him? He hoped she didn't think he was stalking her. Adric leaned against a wall, his foot braced against it by his knee, and waited for her to go by as he kept looking around. He certainly didn't want to be labeled a stalker.
Amari & Joshua
The alchemist continued to rant and complain until she turned around, causing him to nearly bump into her. "Hey you a-" The staff caused him to stagger to the side a little bit, stars in his eyes. "Did you have to hit me with the staff? Your hand would've sufficed. And I need to know. I wanna know, I'm a curious little fungus." It wasn't the first time he'd called himself a fungus, friends had called him that before he just decided to say it himself, lessens the hurt of the insult. "But why so far into my market. What do we have that you don't? Middle Market has everything. It's cheaper for more. Dunno why you can't buy them there." and paused, buying some more small wooden circles before glancing back down the market, catching the tip of her hat and jogging after her.
Amari stayed still for a few moments, watching him for any visible hex signs, but found none. He stopped a few shops down and leaned against the wall. Well that certainly wasn't conspicuous, just standing around. Was he following her? She slowly began walking again, it'd be simple. The witch would just continue walking by him like she hadn't seen him nor met him. Maybe she'd glance at him since she didn't want to totally ignore him. "What's the worse thing that could happen?" she mused to herself. Sudden explosion, he's selling girls into slave trades, rapist, nothign could happen at all, once she thought about it.
She was in front of him and as soon as she stepped her hat meowed, causing her to hesitate on her next step. It mewled loudly once again, the head popping out of a rip before mewling again, demanding more pork. With a swift movement she had ripped off another piece of pork and shoved it in the cat's mouth and continued her walk, cheeks feeling hot. "I certainly hadn't predicted that. Stupid cat."
User ImageUser ImageShe'd hit him, she'd clearly told him to get lost, why was he still following her? She was ready to test that law and hex him right now, regardless of whether it was the first time they'd met or not! And why had he called himself a fungus?! That was just creepy!!!
Lyssolette paused at a stall and bought some felt cloth, the type one normally used with a flint. This type of cloth never soaked up any magic. Not even if a witch directed a spell to it. Unspellable cloth! This would do perfect for carrying the copper home and containing it until she was ready to use it.
This guy was harder to get rid of than lice on a cat! Lyssolette sorely regretted helping him out of her market. She looked at him, annoyance clear on her features, her eyes sparkling with it.
"Don't you understand what go away means? Go pester someone else, I've no interest in you!" What was his ploy? Annoying Lowly Alchemist.
Adric casually watched the little witch from earlier walk past him. She really did think he was stalking her. It was amusing, the way she puzzled over whether to acknowledge him or not.
And then the cat popped out of her hat, mewling loud as ever.
Adric simply couldn't help himself. The sight was so peculiar and unexpected that he had to laugh.
And he kept laughing. His body heaved with the uncontrollable shakes of amusement. He had to lean against the wall and bend forward in an attempt to draw the laughter back into himself. Just when he thought he was almost in control, he would imagine the cat's head popping out of a tear in the witch's hat, her expression of surprise, and then the fit would flare into giggling life all over again.
