exclaim Amayuki Naval Base exclaim
Location:
Southwestern land mass of Arrosent Bay. Sheltered slightly by the western tail of the land from rough seas, but with easy access to open seas, it was a natural place to put a harbor.
Description:
Amayuki Naval Base. Marvel at it. Yes, that's it, be jealous. Good, good.
Named after the famed captain and founder of Hyouto, Kyoko Amayuki, Captain of the Suimibara. It is believed to be the location where the good captain first landed upon Hyouto, and is known to be the place where she brought in the vessels of loot and artisans to build the grand city of Arrosent.
From there, the dock has only gotten larger and grander. Stretching out nearly 2000 into deep water, there is room enough for 20 ships to dock here at the same time. Not nearly the whole of the Hyouto Fleet, but enough for them all to resupply without having to wait in line.
The docks themselves are 'modern', made of brick and mortar mixed from Volcanic dusts and muds. They retain their strength even under the salt water, and are thick and strong enough that they can survive a catapult bombardment, though it hasn't been tested out to that extent yet.
Where the docks meet shallow water, the shore has been filled in with rock and sealed with mortar to make a nice, solid block upon which the industrious Hyouto could build their facilities.
Almost nothing at this time, exists of the old dockwork. Old wooden buildings and wooden docks have more than been upgraded by the ruling clans. Who sails from wooden docks anymore? Those upstarts in Hyphos? What serious navy is using such, barbaric means?
The solid land is lined with four long buildings, in which the supplies and materials that keep the ships afloat reside, as well as the one on the northern end, which is the barracks for those sailors on shore leave, and the workers that are there around the clock to be stagehands for the navy.
There is a fifth building, built right up to a small canal that leads to the dock Number 13. A small ramp leads from the giant double doors of the building, down into the water. This building is where retrofits and new ships are worked on. The big landmark of the docks, it is nearly 300 feet in height, 1000 feet long, and 100 feet wide. There are no windows into the building, and only one small door, leading into the massive dockworks. This door is heavily guarded at all times by two elite Marine Riflemen, and no one enters this place without approval.
