Enzo hadn't been taking on classes as he should have been and honestly he had a good reason! He was studying things and becoming better at the spiritual craft. After all what use would he be if he allowed himself to stagnate? He gotten books and had read the books when he wasn't absorbed in a game or other tidbits of life, he'd stopped taking on classes and he just learned for a while.
Now he was ready again and it seemed his first student to benefit from his wealth of newfound knowledge would be arriving hopefully soon.
The orange haired man quietly settled in his chair and took up his DS into his hands and began to play the game he had put in moments ago. It might take a while for all he knew but he was alert and waiting.

Stagnation had evidently run rampant amongst the collective gathering of spawns, to which Mimosa was no ample exception. After discovering the loss of both biological parents the girl had to be, literally, dragged out into public. This all came after an over exaggerated cure-all-ills sleep that had left the child thinner and paler than before.
As such, she now looked like a doll, all dressed out in lace and satin who could barely manage the door to the study without her father's assistance. The child pushed as hard as she could without managing it and only succeeded in falling flat in as the door gave way to a significantly stronger push from her father.
"Hello?" the man chimed into the chamber, kneeling down to help his sluggish daughter out of her awkward position and gently nudging her forward. Eilender didn't bother following after, and instead kept his distance as his daughter approached what he could only assume to be her instructor.
Mimosa paused a short distance from the man and peered up at him demurely, fidgeting a bit. This was her teacher? What was he going to do to her? He was dressed like one of those men who yelled a lot on television and pulled people out of chairs with wheels on them - and if they didn't get up, they yelled even more! "P-Please...." she began, soft with trembling tones, "I-I...I. . .I don't like. . .yelling. . .sir. . .I-I came to l-learn? I think . . ."
Eilender only shook his head and offered an apologetic smile to the priest. "What she means, is that she's here for your class. I wasn't sure whether or not you wanted me to stay though, so I can come back and pick her up later if you want some time alone...and he's not gonna yell at you, sweetie."

Enzo looked up at the entry of spawn and guardian and blinked a bit at how everything was progressing not that he minded it was just a seemingly curious chain of events and at least she didn't seem hurt. Quietly he had paused his game and then tucked it into a safe little drawer. Enzo then turned his attention to the girl once more as she spoke. A look of confusion crossed his face and then he laughed lightly and shook his head as he spoke in a normal tone to her, "Your guardian is right. I won't yell at you. Truth be told I am retired from that life." he addressed both parent and child as he moved to stand. "Sometimes it is just comforting...to wear familiar things."
This time he focused on the guardian, "You are more than welcome to stay and watch as she works. It might make her more comfortable if you stuck around," then he looked to the girl that had softly spoken to him.
"What is your name?" He asked patiently and waited for a reply.

The man had been correct in his assumption of her comfort. Knowing her father was now going to stay with her, the girl managed a bit better. A little louder than the very soft murmur, she replied softly and with questions of her own. "M-Mimosa. . .What's yours?. . .Do y-you. . do magic things?" It may have seemed an odd way to put it, but the girl had never seen real magic before. Sure, she had seen her fawn father work little spells, but nothing like making fire dance or water take shape. The thought made her eyes wide as they shone with silent anticipation of what things he was going to teach her. ". . .A. .re you a wizard?"

"I'm Enzo Brandt. You may simply call me Enzo, I'm not much for formality," he explained with a small smile. He nodded a bit at her question and gestured over to a large faintly glowing circle in a portion of his classroom, "I do teach magic. All you need to do is be willing to learn," he explained as he rolled up his sleeves just a bit and he motioned for her to go toward the circle, "Go on toward the circle. There is nothing to be afraid of."
He smiled faintly at her question, "Hmmm. I guess that would be my current occupation, yes," he laughed a bit. She was certainly an amusing child. Enzo moved toward the circle as well and seemed thoughtful, "You remind me of the Earth," he said simply as he watched her.

The association seemed strange but at the same time made a little sense. Bright blue eyes fell towards the aforementioned element's more physical manifestation as she slowly traversed it towards the circle. Yes, the earth was a good thing. You could sleep on the earth after all! You would only burn up in a fire, and sleeping on water seemed like it wouldn't be very comfortable, and air wasn't even something tangible enough to be bothered with if it wasn't blowing. Yes, earth would do.
It took a bit, but she managed her way over and lowered herself to a comfortable position by its edge. Despite it being very pretty to her, she didn't yet know if it was safe to touch, and merely looked upon it quietly as she waited for instruction. She only spoke once he was close enough to sufficiently hear her without her needing to raise her voice. ". . .How did you learn. . .Magic, I mean. . .Is it. . from your Papa? Or. ." well, she didn't exactly HAVE a mother, so she ended the idea there. After all, she didn't know any adult women who knew magic, unless Ebby did, and if she did than she hadn't shown it to her.

He looked over at her as they stood on the outside of the circle and seemed thoughtful on how to respond before he simply settled on honesty, "I had no Papa or anyone to teach me. I just...knew but I did have others to help me along the way and guide me," he explained quietly. "The help of others is how you gain power, I believe. You cannot be strong by yourself - not usually."
There were exceptions, very rare exceptions.
Enzo offered his hand down to her to, "Let's go into the circle together, and I will help you unlock the power of the Earth that you seem in tune with," he said cheerfully. The fact that she was so soft spoken and slow didn't seem to flummox him at all if anything it was a good quality in someone that wished to learn certain magics.

No Papa? The concept was difficult to imagine. After all, hers had always been there! As she took his hand, she gave it a tiny squeeze and offered a little smile as though to comfort the adult. Though, it probably looked a little strange for the delicate slip of girl to be looking up at him with such fawning, sad eyes like that. ". . .Ready. . ."

He didn't seem to mind the expression on her face or that she squeezed his hand comfortingly. It was endearing and sweet for him that she seemed to care so deeply despite having only met a few moments ago. Quietly the ex-priest lead her into the circle and toward the center where he moved in front of her and released her hand.
Enzo moved and gently pressed a fingertip toward her forehead and a soft green glow emanated from it as he seemed to concentrate for a long moment before a green glow went from his fingertip and began to wash over her, "Mimosa, speak the word 'Terra' and your powers will awaken." Enzo instructed.

The girl followed along obediently, allowing him to pull her into the circle and place his fingertip just so on her forehead. Granted, she still thought the whole thing to be strange and even a little unsettling as the light began consuming her - but she knew it was far too late to simply run (or shuffle at a moderately faster pace than her already languid stride) away.
A brief sound of dismay followed the spread of light but fell quiet. Realizing it didn't hurt at all silenced any rebuttal to it and allowed her to better focus on the instructions he had given. ". .Terra. ." she repeated obediently, whispering it as her hands sought an almost ritualistic comfort in fidgeting with the ribbon ends of her lace bodice.
However, despite the word being uttered, the only evident result came in a very soft yawn that seemed to come from nowhere within her. Odd, as she didn't feel immediately tired by anything, and she had slept for at least 72 hours before coming in...Maybe it was just how warm the room seemed to be? As though he would know, she looked up at Enzo expectantly.

It wasn't like he would ever seek to hurt the girl so everything he did he always kept her safety in mind. When everything went through and she didn't seem to reject the magic and the magic didn't seem to reject her there was a small satisfied nod from him before he moved to lean away from her a bit to give her some space as he dropped his hands back to his sides. He seemed thoughtful as he looked at her however and couldn't seem to find it in him to give her an offensive power to work on but defensive seemed like the best bet. If she ever got in trouble she would probably find it more useful to have armor than she would to have a way to strike out. Thus within the pockets of his robes he drew out a simple stone.
"Your first lesson will be to make armor from stone. It will last you at least four hits until you can strike back or get away, that sound good?" As she got more powerful the amount of hits the armor could take would increase.

He expected her to make armor from that? Gently, she took the stone from him and rolled it a bit between her slender fingertips. No matter which way she turned it though, it was wholly ordinary without any evident magic. True, she could simply give it back and demand a decidedly more mystical chunk of crystal or special looking piece of meteor - but if he had said it would become armor than she was sure it could be done.
Mimosa delicately lowered herself to the floor and got comfortable, turning the stone over and over again between her fingers as she looked it over. It seemed for a long while that the stone was akin to her own nature in not being at all hasty to turn into anything. The child didn't betray any frustration despite its uncooperative nature. Instead, she just stared quietly at it and moved it around until she noticed something.
Holding it up to him, she indicated a little spike that she knew couldn't have been there before. ". D-did. . .Did I break it. . .? What do I do. . ."

He let her take it from him and simply watched her as she moved it about and seemed to ponder over it with only a little bit of consternation coming from her but that was only natural for someone slowly learning a craft. When she produced a result he crouched and took a look at it and then nodded a bit, "Something is happening," he assured as he took out his own bit of rock and took a moment to concentrate and then flattened it between his palms. His person glowed a soft green as he worked at it to show his switch in elements for the moment - for the most part he was just neutral.
Then he took the flattened bit and 'stretched it' until it was long enough to be placed on his forearm and it just stuck there without any help, "Because you are earth attuned the armor will stick to you no matter what just so long as it is whole. Once it takes enough damage it'll fall away. It'll take some practice before you can do this like it is natural." He hovered his hand over the armor he had made and formed protective spikes over it.
"It takes concentration and determination. You are more stubborn than the earth - not the other way round," he explained with a small grin.

More stubborn than the earth... Mimosa repeated the line in her head as she looked down at her tiny stone. It wasn't nearly as grandiose as his armor, but that little spike was hers and she had made it by wanting it to be there. Albeit, it had only been the abstract idea of SOMETHING being there or happening, it had worked.
It roused a quiet sort of confidence in her and she tried to make another. This time, it did not budge. The next time, it did not budge. For a long, long while she could not seem to get it to budge. However, as her fingertips stroked the surface in a pulling manner for what seemed the fiftieth time, the faintest emanation of green tinged her already pallid-green fingertips, and it pulled.
This time it was a slightly longer spike with a slender tip akin to a needle. As her fingers formed it, she unwittingly wound up pricking herself on it's fine tip and the stone fell from her hands as it caused her to jerk away in uncharacteristically quick fashion. Mimosa gently sucked on the small puncture before it ceased hurting enough to let her loose to pick up the stone again and show her work.

He flinched with her when she managed to p***k herself upon her own handiwork but still he offered an encouraging smile when she held it up to him and nodded a bit, "You're getting somewhere. That is yours to keep and work with until we meet again, Mimosa." That is if she wanted to work with him again. He rarely got any repeats in his students though they were but a handful and he had been unavailable for a small period of time which only helped make matters a bit more awkward in that department.
"Well done! Just be a little more careful about how you handle the spikes...Would you like a bandaid for your finger?" He asked quietly as he moved to stand up pretty much calling the lesson to a close for a now. The expectation for her to practice and learn on her own time was eluded to.
