Most schools have Presidents day off. I know, its nice to have a day off from work, school, ect. But do you really think we should have it off? Why or why not?

No. It's just when they honor the President. I'm Canadian, and I don't think President's day is necessary.

*cough* I work for a bank so I have no argument against paid days off.

I really do not see the point of it. It is just to honor a person who leads a country in which, according to democracy, anyone is able to do. My view on the president is that it is only a contest to see how popular you are, much like a high school election. Why celebrate that? Make a valuble contribution to society and then I will celebrate in your honor.

I think President's day is suppose to honor both past and present president's achievements regardless of how small they were.

I am against celebrating mediocrity, but if we are going to do it for presidents then it may as well be for everyone. So rename President's Day as Mediocre Day and give everyone the day off to wallow in his or her uneventful life.

It would make more sense if it was a celebration of the country as a whole, rather than it's succession of leaders, but since we already have Independence Day that is also kind of moot. Basically, it's unnecessary but I won't complain too loudly against a day off.
