Swalot
Did you know?
"Swalot's large, cavernous mouth can easily gulp down something as large as a car tire. Its stomach acid can dissolve virtually anything." --Bulbapedia
Swalot. Sheesh, I wonder if the random pokemon generator hates me or something. I dunno if it's just me, but this seems like one of those pokemon you forget that it exists until you encounter one. No dual typing here, straight poison type. Let's have a look at the base stats of this living garbage disposal:
HP: 100 Atk: 73 Def: 83 SpA: 73 SpD: 83 Spe: 55
Some interesting stats here. Swalot is an NU pokemon, yet it's capable of running against some of the big OU threats. Unfortunately, it only has two health regen moves, Pain split and Rest. However, you can always slap a leftovers on it, and give it the ability Sticky Hold so it can't be removed by your opponent. Lets look at a few things that makes Swalot good.
Sticky Hold: This ability allows the pokemon to hold onto it's held item, despite moves that try to get rid of it, such as Knock Off or Trick. These moves aren't too common in metagame, but you never know what some people will think of as strategies.
Encore: This move will lock your opponent into the move they used last, not allowing them to use any other of their known moves. Couple this with a way to keep a pokemon from switching and you're getting close to the reason why Wobuffet is an Uber. Perhaps carry another pokemon that knows a move that prevents foes from switching, then Baton Pass to Swalot.
On the flip side of the coin...
2x weakness to Ground and Psychic: Two very common types. Especially ground. Earthquake will mess this guy up a lot.
No Dual STAB Most pokemon boast the dual STAB option, but not Swalot. Meaning, you won't be getting many attack boosts in that department.
In short: Swalot is a good pokemon to use as long as you can avoid being EQes to death. He just requires some good predictions on your opponent to stay alive.

Swalot is a good NU poke. I enjoy using it as a mix wall. I gave it the same EV's as a "Tank" Swampert off smogon.

Caring is thinking with your heart I'm sure you could make sort of a wall out of Swalot with EVs in both Defenses, and giving him Stockpile. Then Swallow for some health regen? biggrin
Sorry I couldn't get it done. I just got swamped this weekend with stuff. D: Think hard.

Pretty pretty please, don't you ever ever feel Like you're less than f*cking perfect. The Toxic Queen is quite pleased with this, Rol. ^-^ You did very well. <3 Also, I agree with Des. I've actually used that method before and it's a beast to try to take down sometimes. x3 Pretty pretty please, if you ever ever feel Like you're nothing, you're f*cking perfect to me<3

@Des: the thing with swallow is you lose the Def/Sp.Def boosts that you got from stockpiling, and would be forced to continue Stockpiling oot get them back, and swallowing to get back the HP.
I think painsplit is an ok method to recover the HP... but I think a rest, toxic, stockpile and like protect or something would be the best method... but like all toxic stall walls that don't carry attack moves, it becomes useless against blissey and steel types as well as other poison types.
I used him in Ruby and he was a pretty good poke. so Im sure he could be good in OU if used properly or given the chance to set up.
@Mos: how about he uses protect, then what? your forced to stay in the next turn and do nothing or switch allowing him to poison a pokemon regaurdless, and if you stay in he can just protect again.
@Rol: sometimes having only 1 type is a good thing. He may lose out on dual stab, but he's clearly meant to be a wall, and walls don't generallly rely on attacking. and a lot of the time adding aditional types ussually just increases the ammount of weaknesses.
besides his weakness to ground and psychic can be looked at as a good thing... you can bait and switch, if an obvious EQer comes in, just get a free switch to a levitater or a flyer, if an alakazam or something comes in, get a free switch to a dark type.
but anyways, good good job rol 3nodding let us thank the random number generator gods fro bringing us this wonderful pokemon, who often gets overlooked.
