Bluebell was a lively medaria, romping through her flower patches and bounding over the thick grass. She loved to build circlets and wreaths out of the petals - sometimes the whole flower. Then one day during her adventures, she became overzealous and trampled one particular flower patch. Unfortunately for her, a bee had been trying to collect pollen and as she bounced and hopped, she came crashing down on the bee's stinger.

Bluebell let out a tearful wail and ran from her flowery garden, throughly upset by the event. Now she steers clear from her beloved flowers for fear of finding another bee.

For most of her life Penelope had always been nervous. Nervous about talking with her parents. Nervous about meetings and get togethers. But most of which she was nervous about the male gender. Penelope didn’t consider herself as beautiful. Her blue coating was striking and almost anyone could spot her in a crowd. Not to mention her fluff of hair ontop of her head always covered her eyes making it impossible to walk sometimes without bumping into someone or tripping over her feet.

But today was different. It was Valentine’s Day! The day of loving, chocolate eating, and card giving. Penelope decided that today she would give her ‘crush’ a small card she had made out of construction paper and paint. It wasn’t anything special. She added a couple dusts of glitter before tucking the card into the envelope and then sealing it with a ribbon. She hummed a little tune to herself as she walked out to give her gift to her ‘crush’.

Penelope smiled brightly with the card in her mouth. There was going to be a small gathering within the meadow at Great Oak. She skipped in excitement to be able to dance with her ‘crush’ underneath the moonlit night sky. She sighed dreamily and quickened her pace.

“Penelope!” a familiar voice called out. It was Ritina. Penelope paused and breathed deeply as she looked at the other female. “What’s that Penelope? Is that for you-know-who?” she asked with a grimace. Penelope’s ears lowered as she shyly nodded her head. “Let me give it to him! You know it’s bad luck if YOU were to give it to him. So let me. I’m your best friend after all,” Ritina offered. Penelope nodded her head as she always listened to Ritina[whom was always right]. Ritina laughed out in joy as she took the card and bounded away.

Penelope waited.
Waited…
And waited some more. She was about to go off to find Ritina in hopes that her dear friend gave the card. But the sound of cackling laughter caught the attention of her ears. The voices were all too familiar. She looked in the near distance to see Ritina standing beside Penelope’s ‘crush’. Flirtatious eyes blinking innocently and a sweet smile. Penelope’s mouth dropped as she stared. Her eyes quickly looked at the handsome male. He grinned as he lay his head next to Ritina’s and ever so lightly nuzzled her.

Penelope snuffled as a tear escaped from her watery eyes. In the distance thunder rumbled and rain began to fall on what was supposed to be the day of loving.
