Sometimes I see occultism or various aspects of it getting a bad rap in conspiracy theories and the Truther Movement. Being someone that has studied and practiced the occult arts for most of the last decade I thought I would give an opportunity for those less studied to ask some questions about any areas they may be curious about.
Please try to keep things civil and please only ask questions that relate to the occult.

God Emperor Akhenaton As an agnostic, I require proof of the supernatural existing. As somebody who has studied the occult for a long time (almost 10 years) you should be aware that "Magik" is simply something that cannot be explained by conventional science. Same with anything "supernatural". just remember that science has very few "laws" and very many theories.

You may argue that it isn't, but scientific theory differs from a layman's theory. Gravity is a theory, germs are a theory, chemistry is a theory, calculus is a theory. The supernatural? It doesn't even pass as a hypothesis.

Magic(k), mediumship, evocation, psychic abilities, demonology, alchemy, divination, etc. The umbrella term "occult" does encompass a great many things, as you've implied. It's just easier for me to say "occult" than it is to list the huge amount of topics encompassed. It may just be easier for you to ask a question and see if I can answer it. sweatdrop Also, before jedi and Akhenaton throw down in a "Does the supernatural exist?" debate... I respectfully ask that you take it somewhere else. This topic isn't intended for that. It's for answering questions that people may have about occult topics; not for providing evidence for the existence of anything supernatural. No forum debate is ever going to do that.

The most common methods seem to be trance work or hypnosis though, from what I read. As to specific techniques to help you out, well, I'm afraid I can't help you with that. sweatdrop I would suggest doing some searching on Google if you haven't already. Alchemy is a much broader field than just playing with chemicals and trying to transmute metals. Of primary focus is the transformation of the human being, of moving to higher spiritual attainment and coming closer to the divine. The operations of physical alchemy are analogs and metaphors for the processes of spiritual alchemy. As to why alchemy is occult... Well, have you ever tried reading an alchemical text? Few things are as hidden or obscure as alchemical methods and recipes. @Akhenaton and others: You don't have to leave the topic; no one does. I only ask that we all stay on topic rather than turning this into a debate. I'm not opposed to such debate, I would just rather it not derail the purpose of my thread. You could create a separate thread in this forum to debate supernatural issues. I think it would be very interesting, if you have the drive to do so.

I'm not persecuting you I'm just led to belive you'd rather quickly bash any comment in here just on the basis they didn't provide any hard data. As for the thread topic. Do you think Tesla studied the occult? (I understand occult as meaning secret)

@Azkeel: I've not seen anything that suggests Nikola Tesla was involved in the occult, but I think he developed technology that is little understood and some of which may be kept hidden. @Hoshioni: The Emerald Tablet as well as the works of Nicolas Flamel. Those should be a start. There is a lot more out there and the second link (levity.com) is a pretty good alchemy resource.
