These are the classes you will be able to play as, some races have restricions, and some have access to special classes.

Soldier Classes*
Soldier: Striaght-up gunner, these guys go where the fights thickest, and make it where the fights thinnest. Has access to all guns, and usually wears heavy armor.
Assassin: Unlike the soldiers, the assassin stay away from the line of fire and picks enemies off with their sniper rifles. Assassins can also blend into their surroundings for a brief time. (Two posts tops) They use sniper rifles and pistols, and can only wear light armor.

Tech Classes**
Engineer: These are your classic techy, they can fix pretty much anything, and consider their omni-tool as precious as their gun. They can only use pistols and shotguns, and can wear medium or light armor.
Hacker: The bane of synthetics, the hacker tears his way into computers and synthetic enemies and gets what he needs, be it intel or a nice explosion. They can hack into robotic enemies, exept rpc's, and either destroy them or temporarily make them allies. They wield the smg and pistol in battle and wear light armor.

Biotic Classes***
Adept: The basic biotic, they lack the focus and power that others possess, but make up for it with versatility. They have the basic powers of throw, pull, warp, warp ammo, and barrier. These powers are slightly weaker than a speciallist, but the diversity of their arsenal lets them hold their own. They havve access to shotguns, pistols, and smg's, they wear light armor like all biotics.
Commando: A stealth-oriented adept, they share the strengths and weaknesses, but can only use the powers throw, warp ammor, and slam. They wear light armor, and use sniper rifles and pistols.
Speciallist: As their name states, they choose one branch of biotic abilities, and stick with it.
Combat Speciallist: They use powers like that let them rip through enemy lines like a hot knife through butter. They stay on the front-lines, weilding shotguns and pistols, wearing medium armor.
Range Speciallist: They use more range-oriented powers, if these guys have to fight at close range, they've really screwed up. They weild sniper rifles, smgs' and pistols while wearing light armor.
Asari Commando: Only Asari have access to this class, they weild an arsenal of powers that tear their foes apart at a distance, or strengthen personal defence. Their weapons of choice, assult rifles and shotgun, armor; medium.
Krogan Battlemaster: Only Krogan can use this class, they use the powers that get the target closer, enhance personal defence, and strengthen their gun. They weild shotguns, and pistols, and wear heavy armor.


*=Off limts to Salarians.
**=Off limits to Krogan, Vorcha.
***=Off limits to Vorcha, Quarians, and Geth.

These are the following classes specific to the Geth. Each of these is a subtype of the original Geth model, each built for a different purpose.

Soldier Models
User Image
The above model is a shock trooper, they weild every type of gun there is, though typically assult rifles, and they live on the front lines.

User Image
This is a Geth stalker, they rely on stealth, and agility to fight. Their only weapon is a laser built into their heads.

User Image
This is the Geth Destroyer, they're the Geth version of the Soldier class, using assult rifles, shotguns, and smg's. Their armor is as thinck as a Krogan's skin, so fighting one on your own is a dangerous endevour.

two things...first drell can be biotics the assassin guy....forgot his name >_<
he could use warp and pull...or push

then can we have the bonus weapon like shepard gets halfway though the game?

I forgot the drell could use biotics, so I do intend to fix that. There's a subforum that gives you some weapons to choose from but you are limited to the ones in your class description.

There's a subforum that gives you some weapons to choose from but you are limited to the ones in your class description.

that only shows what the weapon models you can use....not which classes you can have extra weapons on......I was just saying you know halfway through the game you get an additional weapon for shepard. now my character has a shot gun and a pistol but I kinda wanted an smg or a sniper rifle to go with that....lol even the first mass effect you could have additional weapons.....I think only on your second playthrough though...lol well weapon skills since everyone had all weapons

I know that halfway through the second game you could get a new weapon, but my point is that if you pick a class, you can only use the weapons that class allows. While i'm not saying that you can't pick up a weapon of another type and use that temporarily, you aren't allowed to have that particular type of weapon. For instance, if you run out of ammo for your shotgun and you find an assault rifle, you can use that but it would be with the same level of skill as someone who has never (or barely) used it before, and you cannot keep it as you are not trained in it's use and its only natural to not keep a weapon you aren't used to.
