The day was slightly boring, as always in Natintrapa's mind. She still didn't have a clue where she was, or where she was going. She was simply just letting her feet carry her where they wished. So far it hadn't done anything too disappointing for her. No unfortunate run ins, no crazy felines or k-nines bugging her yet. Her orange eyes surveyed the land as she moved slowly. Her tail flicking lightly along the tips of the savanna grass. For the most part, there was no one around at least in front of her. She wasn't watching watching anything to the sides or behind her. There was no reason to, she could hear anything behind her, as well as smell. Seeing as the wind was coming from behind her.
The sun was high above the sky, indicating that it was midday. She stopped to peer up for a moment. Closing her eyes and letting the heat of the sun hit her face. Life wasn't exactly what she wanted it to be, but then again she was once told that things wouldn't happen how she wanted them to. Her mother was a smart lioness, at least in her eyes. Though, Natintrapa couldn't help but wish things would just fall into place perfectly. Dreams of a stupid lioness, that was all. It depressed her to think about the things that she wished could happen, but wouldn't ever happen. The thoughts of a foolish girl with a impossible dreams.
She opened her eyes and glanced around again. Trees in the distance here and there. Something about them seemed to be calling to her. A impulsive urge to go to them. Not sure why she all the sudden started to feel like she needed to go over there. She eyed them for a moment before starting to head towards them. She was hesitating, but had no reason why. A frown crossed her face as she started to move a little faster towards the small cluster of trees.
Urza was laying under a small cluster of trees. The day was warm, and the sun was high up in the sky. He didn't feel like doing much today. Walking around in the heat wasn't fun, and wasn't easy. Especially with the lack of water around. He didn't like being thirsty. There was a light breeze coming between the two trees he decided to lay down between. They blocked out the sun lovely, at least for the moment. He figured in an hour or two the trees wouldn't be so good. He'd have to move slightly to stay out of the sun. That was, of course, if he decided to stay in this spot for long. He yawned and watched the land lazily. Sleep was slowly coming over him, yet wasn't there quite.
Something caught his eyes as he was watching the land. Something much darker then the yellow-brown dull color of the savanna grass. Another lion, he could tell from how far they were. A female, judging on the pure fact that she had no mane. Or perhaps a young male, though the lion was quite a bit big for a young male. No matter, he continue to watch her as she started to move his way. It seemed like she hesitated for a moment. Perhaps she saw him? Perhaps not. He wasn't sure, nor did he worry about it too much. He was a peaceful guy, he avoided fights as best as he could.
A wave of ease washed over him. He really did hate being alone. Even if the other wasn't kind, at least it's some contact with someone else. He longed to be with others, but could never bring himself to actually joining a pride of some kind. At least not with some reasoning behind it. He had almost followed a female into a pride once, but ended up getting cold feet and running away. He wondered what happened to her after that night. Though, he had 10 kids with her, yet he'd never know about it. He shook his head to get that out of his mind. He shouldn't dwell on the past. It made making the future harder for one's self. He never took his eyes off the approaching lioness.
She couldn't resist the urge to go towards them. Continuing on, Natintrapa still didn't notice the other lion there. Instead, she was looking at less obvious things. Trying to find some hidden meaning to the trees. Her eyes were on them, not the creature in between them. Of course, that would change soon enough. She sighed as different thoughts raced through her mind as she went. Maybe there was some type of spirit telling her to go here. Telling her that there was a greater meaning to her miserable simple life. Then again, that was her wishful thinking again. Hoping that things would just fall into place perfectly without any effort on her part. Which wasn't realistic. Nothing did that, and she knew it more then others. With years of hoping it would do so. She frowned at this. Maybe it was a feeling of warning? She didn't know.
She never had been particularly religious, but sometimes it made her wonder if spirits where real in any way. A few times she had felt like this before. Though, most the time it was a feeling of leaving a place. She wondered what exactly she had missed in the past from them. She never looked back or crossed the same path she had once taken. No use in going back. What would she learn? Nothing important. It didn't happen to her, so it didn't matter. At least, to her it didn't matter.
As she reached closer to the trees, her attention snapped from the trees to the other. At first she hadn't seen him, but now it was hard to miss him. He was watching her. Just laying there and watching her. She froze. She didn't know what to do. He didn't see hostile or rude in anyway. He seemed to just be relaxing, but then again she really had not ran into others before. It was hard to really know what they were capable of doing. Especially if they were just sitting there like that. She wasn't close enough to actually talk to him without having to yell. It was also pointless in trying to hide, he had noticed her long before she noticed him. Or she was sure of it.
More thoughts racing through her mind as she stood there. She finally continued on, she figured she looked quite stupid just standing there doing nothing at all. Just staring back at him. She figured that he's laying down and she wasn't, so if he was mean she could easily get away. That was a good plus on her side. She also didn't want to just leave in case he wasn't mean. Assuming would make an a** out of her, after all. Plus, if he was nice, it was good to get to know him. She hadn't had a good conversation in a decent amount of time, and she was in need of some. Just hearing someone else for once would be nice.
Finally, when she figured she was close enough for him to hear her, she decided to speak. “Good day to you, fine sir!” She said as pleasantly as she could. Hoping that would stop any hostility if there was going to be any from him. If she showed him she wasn't mean, then hopefully that'd make it easier in this situation. She gave a smile to him as she approached.
Urza flicked one of his ears back as he continued to watch her. He didn't want to get up and frighten her, or make any motion that he was there. He wasn't very good at conversation starting, even if he longed to have one with anyone. He was quiet, and tended to keep to himself when he needed too. Which was most of the time. Though, he tended to get alone with anyone he did talk to. He just didn't want to ruin any chances of meeting someone knew by frightening them. Though, it seemed like he had done just that for not making himself as noticeable as he could have.
She froze, and he almost flinched at that. He almost made some type of movement, but that could have made it worse. He wasn't sure what to do. He didn't want her to run off, yet he didn't want to say something to make it worse. So, instead, he sat there and watched her. Hoping, and letting his mind run wild with thoughts, bad thoughts. Thoughts of not getting to meet the lioness that was in front of him, just staring back at him. Then, she moved, but it wasn't the way he thought it was.
She was coming towards him. He eased up a bit, that was good. She wanted to talk to him almost as bad as he wanted to talk to someone, maybe? Or maybe she was just friendly and wanted to talk to him because he was there. He wanted to smile, but he wouldn't let one cross yet. He didn't even think about what would happen if she wasn't nice at all and wanted to hurt him. No, that didn't even cross at all. He was just happy that she was looking at him, smiling and coming towards him. Today was looking out to be a good one after all. Or so he hoped.
When she finally spoke to him, he knew things would be good. Her voice was pleasant and kind. He eased up even more on this, and let the smile cross his face this time. “Well, hello there!” he replied kindly right back. “Lovely day, isn't it?” He asked her in hoping that'd be good in starting some type of small conversation. Maybe even lead to a in dept one. Which was what he really, really wanted to happen. He wanted a good conversation, something thought out and deep.
Natintrapa eased up. She could feel every muscle that was tense just relax all at the same time, the breath she had been holding without realizing came out finally. He didn't move from his comfortable laying position, which was perfectly fine with her. When she finally reached about teen feet from him, she sat down and made herself comfortable. Maybe not as comfortable as him, but pretty comfortable. “Don't mind if I interrupt you?” She asked but before he could answer her on that she moved on to what he actually asked her.
“Yes, it's quite lovely.” Which was even better now that she could spend it with someone else. The sun was up high, the heat was almost unbearable, and there was shade that she now shared with this mostly white male lion. Which she now realized had incredible light blue eyes. The type of eyes that looked like ice, yet were so warm and loving. The type of eyes any female would love to get lost in. Like she wanted to at this moment, but she stopped herself. She looked away from him, looked to the grass. She didn't want to just stare at him. How rude would that be?
“I'm Natintrapa” She added just to get that out there before she'd forget. She didn't want to hold a huge conversation with someone and them not know what to call her. How embarrassing that'd be for the other. And for herself for forgetting to say her name. It would make things rather awkward, which she wanted to avoid. No reason to go through that if you didn't have to, right? She smiled at him again. Trying not to meet with his eyes completely. Her's weren't that great, they were just orange, or as some would say, amber.
Urza inclined his head as an indication to telling her that it was okay to interrupt his area for the moment. He could see that she was also tense about this encounter. He wanted a peaceful encounter, and it appeared so did she. He shifted his paws to where one over lapped the other as he watched her take a seat and make herself comfortable. At least she wasn't going to stand, that'd make him uncomfortable for the most part. He hated having to stare up at someone when he was laying down. He smiled that she agreed with him about the day. It was quite lovely, and even more so now that he wasn't alone. The silence got to him once in a while. Silence that could only be broken by another feline, at least in his mind.
“I'm Urza” He replied to her. Natintrapa, what a interesting name. Though he didn't mention that to her. She probably got that enough as it was. He wasn't good at complimenting others. An slight awkwardness passed through him for a moment. Though, he ignored it for the most part. He didn't realize she was avoiding looking into his eyes. He didn't tend to notice small details like that. Things were going slow, yet good. Which was fine by him. “Out for a walk? I don't believe I've ever seen you” He asked her as he nodded.
Not that he lived in this part. He was a true wanderer until he found a reason to stay in one spot, but he'd been here long enough to know enough about certain creatures that lived around here, and the fact he had come around this area many times before, not just once. Of course, that didn't mean she didn't live around here or anything. He just was curious. She almost seemed lost, and unsure of herself. Even if she wasn't saying it. Though, he wasn't going to ask about it unless she openly started talking about it. It wasn't his place to ask.
Natintrapa smiled as he spoke his name. At least it was easy enough, short and to the point. Her's was kinda long and hard to say. Though, she was fine with people calling her something shorter if they wished. He didn't ask if he could, so she would just assume that he didn't need to. Then again, assuming made an a** out of her, she smiled at her mother's comments that always popped up in her head. Helpful or not helpful as they were. “Urza? That's a easy name to remember.” She said taking note of it and making sure he knew that. She was good with remembering them. Now she saw his face, and those eyes... and now his name to them. It fit him, or that's how she saw hit. Something about it just rang perfectly. Almost too perfectly.
A question she was hoping to avoid, but he asked. It was something she couldn't avoid now. Though, it didn't come out as bad as she had figured if someone did ask. It wasn't like he was asking about her past, which she'd refuse to actually go into. No reason to look back. “No, I'm actually aimlessly wandering around the land.” She said with smile. “No real mind-set in where I want to go.” She continued. It was easy saying this, even though she had tried many times with others, and it didn't come out as smoothly. Not really sure why this was, she just carried on. “My feet seem to know right where they want to go.” Right to you, she didn't add. They were the ones that made her come this way.
Again, she thought about spirits and supernatural things. Perhaps there was a real reason behind them meeting, that she wouldn't get until later? Then again, she was always one for hoping for a bigger picture of something then there actually was. A dream, or fantasy that she was some how important in the world that she wandered. Maybe some hidden meaning to her life and aspects of it. Maybe, just maybe, she was suppose to do something to help someone, or many. Even with that in her mind would be good enough. Some type of true meaning to life. She smiled and looked to the ground, trying to avoid going off into her own little world of thoughts that were probably too foolish to be true.
“What about you? Do you live here? Or just passing through?” though it almost seemed like a stupid question to ask, seeing as he said he didn't see her before. Obviously he lived here, or had been here for some time to notice who did or didn't come here. Or maybe he was just trying to be friendly. She couldn't tell.
Urza smiled, finally a conversation! He nodded as he listened to her. The wind blew his mane around gently, though slightly annoyingly. His bangs kept getting into his eyes, yet he didn't want to mess with it other then blowing it out of his face as he sat there. He hoped she wasn't getting annoyed with it, but he couldn't really help it at the moment. His ears twitched every now and then, but he didn't even notice that. The trees made lovely sounds in the back ground, almost like music, though he didn't pay much attention to it like he normally did.
“No, I don't” He said truthfully. Sure he knew enough about this land to say he lived here, but that wouldn't be right. Especially making someone think that too. “I'm one in the same as you.” He continued. “I just let my feet carry me to where they want to go.” Though, they often led him in places he wished he had never been. Running into many others, yet only getting to know them long enough to know he'd be friends with them, then realize that he had to leave again without saying bye. Which was the worse part. He wanted a reason to stay, but sometimes friendship wasn't strong enough for his urge to move and get away from a place. Maybe he was in for a lack of commitment or some other small issue like that.
“All in honestly, I don't really have a reason to stick around somewhere” He said. It almost sounded depressing, but he tried to leave that out. Tried, and probably failed. He didn't like showing his pain in things, nor letting others see it. Even if they were caring and stuff, it wasn't their burden, but his own. He smiled at her as if it was an okay thing. Like nothing was wrong. No need to make her pity him. He didn't want pity, he didn't want any of that or something similar to it.
Natintrapa felt a bit of the same. No reason to stick somewhere. Though she almost didn't want a reason to stay someone. She wanted to keep moving to avoid problems she had in the past. Things she thought would come and haunt her forever unless she kept running from it. Though, what she didn't know was the more she ran from it, the more it'd haunt her for always being on the back of her mind. She needed something, or someone to make her forget about it. More wishful foolish girly thoughts. Oh how she wished she was with her mother now, or even then.
The real truth was she needed someone to help her over come and accept what happened. But to do that she actually needed to let someone in for them to help. Which was a thing in it's own. She'd never had told anyone about her past. It was her way of trying to say it didn't happen, yet she knew it did. It haunted her while she slept, and while she was awake. More so when she slept. Her foolish dreams of a perfect life tended to fill her mind while she was awake.
“I know how that is” She said, though she was more then sure that he wouldn't know how it was with her. She smiled at him trying to keep everything comfortable, even if it was starting to boarder-line that. She had to come up with a different conversation. Something to lead away from the past. It was for the best. “What do you like to do around here?” She quickly asked before he could farther more upon the places she had been, rather then here. Here was a good subject for her. She smiled at him.
Urza was glad he didn't have to go more into what he meant about that. At least for the moment, he just met her after all. He didn't want to scare her away by saying something completely too forward. He didn't notice that she changed the subject, not that he minded too much. The fact he was having a conversation with someone was good enough for him. He couldn't stop thinking about that part. Now he began to notice that she was avoiding his gaze, he wondered why that was, but didn't bring it up. Instead, her question made him forget about it.
“I'm not sure, I haven't really done anything around here.” He said with a chuckle. “I mean, hunting, sleeping, and laying about is about all I've done.” Now to think about it, he really hadn't done much, and it made him sound extremely lazy. Maybe that was a good or bad thing? He wasn't sure. “If I had others to hang out with, I suppose I wouldn't be sitting here now” He said with small laugh. “Honestly, I don't have many friends.” Well, he had them, but probably not anymore. Not after he'd just leave and not return for a amount of time. Then again, he'd never seen someone more then once.
“What do you do for fun on your wandering?” He asked her. He didn't really ever think about having much fun, but maybe she did. She seemed like a rather active intelligent female lioness. Maybe she made friends easy, or knew how to get to know others to have a bit of fun with while she made her way around the lands that she wandered? All questions he'd soon figure out, though for the moment they filled his mind as he sat there. More and more questions, even as one got answered, another would come.
Sadly, she was just like him in that aspect in live. Nothing was exciting for her for the times she started to wander around. Or rather, run away from her past. That was too much excitement, and not the good kind. So she supposed that wasn't really much to complain about. She frowned a bit for a second. Letting it sit on her face almost not long enough for anyone to catch it. A smile re-appeared on her face almost instantly. “I believe we are in the same on that as well.” Her tail flicked back and forth as she thought more about it.
“I suppose I entertain myself more then I really thought about” Or rather her thoughts took over as she wondered and she didn't even realize it. But that wasn't something she'd openly admit to someone. Maybe that was part of entertainment, or maybe a living nightmare depending on what she was actually thinking about at the time. More then often it was about what she wished to happen, even though they were silly dreams from a foolish girl.
Her biggest wish was to find that knight in shiny armor, like most out there. Or to live happily somewhere safe and sound. Dreams only silly females thought about when their life wasn't going to as planned. Which was often for her. “I guess we are just such an exciting bunch.” She said jokingly at him. Maybe they could make it exciting? But how? If she didn't know how and he didn't, then she supposed they couldn't.
Urza laughed, even though there wasn't really too much funny there. It was just something that happened. He was getting more comfortable with her, which was different. “Perhaps we can change that.” He said with a nod not really knowing what he was talking about. It just came out before he could stop himself. Though the more he thought about it, the more it made sense. He sat up from his laying down position, giving her a oddly innocent smile. What would they do to make life exciting? He wasn't sure, but he was sure willing to try.
No one else had ever really asked him about it, so he never really asked anyone if they wanted to change their boring life to make it exciting. Urza was all for trying it at least. You could never know if you like something if you didn't try it at all. That was what he didn't want. He didn't want to avoid something just because he thought it wouldn't be fun. He only wanted to avoid something if he knew it wasn't fun.
“How about it?” he asked her. “Not sure how, but we can try.” He added, just to make sure that she knew that he was also lost in the aspect of making some type of exciting life moment. He was watching her movements, ignored the frown that crossed her face as he figured it was because she realized how boring her life was. Or at least how boring her life was that she bothered to tell him.
He had the same mindset as her. Wanting to try something new. Natintrapa wasn't sure how to go with this. She was scared to try, yet she wanted to. What was she to follow, her heart or her mind? She smiled at him nervously. She wondered if he was going through the same problem as her. Though, he had offered. Then again, she almost did the same thing. He had no clue where to start, which was the same as she. She hesitated in answering him. Her mind was racing again. She didn't want him to think she was rejecting him in any way. She liked him. He was friendly, and nice. Which, to her would make a wonderful friend.
She took a deep breath, sometimes the risk was worth it. Maybe this was it. There was something that brought her here for a reason. Maybe this was that exact reason for it? Maybe he was someone to help her forget what she wanted to forget. Or perhaps accept that it happened. With this, her heart started to pound in her chest. She hoped that he couldn't hear it, even though she could almost only hear it. Thump, thump, thump. She felt like a past time had passed by, even though it had only been a few seconds at most.
“I guess it couldn't hurt in trying” She said finally. She wasn't sure what else to say. Then again, it felt good to not know what the out come would be. Yet, it also scared her. Scared her almost too bad. It was risk she wanted to take now that she accepted it. She needed it. To know, to see, to try to live again. The dream she wanted most of all. Though, again she still thought she was being foolish. Yet, now it seemed someone else shared her foolishness dream. Which made her at ease. Slightly.
Urza got to his feet with this. This was the beginning of something, but what he didn't know. But he wasn't afraid to find out. Instead, he was excited. He smiled at her with trusting eyes. They spoke on there own as if to say “You're save with me, trust me.” Though, he wasn't sure if she could see that. Maybe she could, maybe she couldn't. Only time could tell. “Then, shall we start now then?” He asked her with a almost cheesy smile, which ended up looking more charming then he had expected. Then again, he didn't know. He thought it was cheesy, seeing as he couldn't see himself.
A ending to the old, and a beginning to the new. That was what this was. A door way to something completely different, as if they were starting fresh, and beginning somewhere that needed it. They both did, even if he didn't know that she needed it more then any. He just knew that they both did. He could help her, and she could help him. It was the perfect start, at least in his eyes. -end of part one-
