The crisp timid Brother Winter was taking his leave for the year, allowing way to older Sister Spring to sprinkle along the next chapter of new life. It was a time that many looked forward to, a time for new beginnings, and chances. Frost thawing, and green returning to the worlds palette, Spring gently coaxed back the song's of the birds, the trickling of the falls and streams, and the buzzing of frantically flitting wings from insects. Yes it seemed the cloak of silence, and sensitive air was being encouraged to blossom with the budding tree's, and flowers.

For the young Cerynei, this was a beautiful graduation ritual, that she and her herd had always come to celebrate. Yet alas, it was only she who was present in the new beginnings of the world. None of her herdsmen were about, nor any she was affiliated with to give thanks to another repeat of rebirth.
Though... this did not deter her in the slightest.
Trotting softly along the renewed wet grasses, the flares surrounding her hooves becoming damp, Poloma made her way towards the scent and sound of a lapping stream. She'd taken refuge only a few meters from the mountainside, as the mountains held comfort to her of her life before. She'd intended to leave and fully explore his vast lad, but... as the mare encountered more and more individuals, she realized that she was indeed quite different from them. Society wasn't like the herd back towards the heaven's. The rule's seemed all askew, or totally disregarded. This held for some difficult adjusting, especially since most she met only came and went within the day. But she was trying, and working to learn the ways of those who walked these carpeted grounds.

Whinnying softly to a few chickadee's planted along the tree's and passing by bushes, she received a few twitters and chirps in response, lifting her spirits right away. Her head lifted a bit more, and her trot became more staccato, tail twitching side to side.
Once she reached the vicinity of the water source, her ears swiveled forward to hone in on it, her steps becoming more fluid and less fervent. As she approached this graceful strip of liquid, the common ritual began. Dipping her head down, she simply let her lips rest along the tops of the lazy water, eyes closing, her body still. To many it would seem that she had become frozen or petrified, but to those of the mountains, they knew she was indeed giving her thanks and welcoming to the awoken stream.

Nukpana knew today was going to be a irritating day. One that would probably live high with all the other days that went by, but at least there was a reason behind the irritation of today. She knew she was going to meet up with the mare Kahlil was going on a date with. In a way she didn’t care because he was the sucker that was going to be set up on a blind date with someone he didn’t even know. But then on the other hand, she cared a lot about it. Kahlil was literally her only true friend at the moment and she wanted to make sure he was with someone that was right for him. Someone that wouldn’t give him heart ache and cause him pain instead of happiness. Then on the flip side she was also envious. She knew she probably would never find happiness like he was. She wanted someone to be there for her and love her. Stallion or mare, she didn’t care as long as they loved her.

Sighing at her thoughts, the brown mare walked slowly through the woods wondering in her head why she even thought to do this. Yes it was fun. She got the biggest kick out of it, but at the end of the day what did she have? She didn’t have someone there waiting in line to love her. She had her shadow and an empty space beside her form. She felt depressed now and all of a sudden the fun for her went away. Everyone else she knew was being paired up, but her. Hydro had a mate now, Hania had his lover, and she didn’t have anyone. Snorting, she kicked a tree stump with her hoof to shut her thoughts up before walking further. She was now beginning to wonder why she even decided to meet the mare here of all locations.

When she finally saw the mare, she smirked and knew it was time to let the games begin even though deep down all she felt was a black hole. She walked over to her examining her features very closely and she had to admit she was very good looking. “Hello. You must be the mare that wants to date Kahlil right?” She asked her as she nudged her slightly wanting to see how frail she really was. "What is your name?" She asked narrowing her eyes on the female and was going to be very critical of her.

Once her ritual had been performed, the mare lifted her head after taking a fruitful sip of the cool sweet water. It'd came from the mountains, and certainly reminded her of her beloved homeland... Indeed, she was quite homesick.
But she was determined to make her way into this new world, to find if she could fit herself into a place of her own.
So far she'd struggled maybe just a touch in learning this new way of life, learning the custom's of the mainstream society and how they were much different from her herd's. But after much observation and encounters, she was starting to get the hang of it, and retain the common habits. It was because of this that she'd entered herself into meeting a stallion in hopes of maybe gaining more information of this land, and perhaps a companion. She hadn't made a single friend since reaching the bottom, and it'd grown a tad lonely roaming on her own. Hopefully he'd stick around awhile for her to get to know.

Shaking out her mane, the mare took a look down the curvy stream, seeing bits of ice chunks drifting lifelessly along the waving waters. she looked forward to when the minnows would dart about like tiny slivers of shadow. The thought was enough to make a faint smile return to her gentle features, tail flickering in anticipation.
She was drawn from her thoughts at the sound of hoofsteps, an ear twirking, and another swiveling back. It didn't take long for her to look behind her and spy another female in her presence, making her smile more so in a polite manner. Nickering curiously, she wiggled her tail at the touch to her plush side, actually quite haughty for a Cerynei, having been up in the mountains toughened up a character. She was not opposed to this approach, as she too did the same when meeting a new Soquili. In response, Polo gave a light touch back to the mare at one of her pretty flowers, pulling back with a brief look along the others physique. The coat color easily reminded her again of her home, and the many shades of creams, browns, and tans that the inhabitants had. Ah! and a medallion of sorts to show your ranking! This was very encouraging to the young female.
As the new company spoke, Polo's ears twisted forward, listening intently. Ah, and here was another custom she was not used to. Speaking upon first impact. It was very much against her traditions, as simply engaging in simple acts of light touches and gestures to discover's another's soul were all that was needed in learning the necessities. Words simply got in the way, and clouded the mind from what the true image of the other.
But... she needed to adapt.
Mustering up the strength, internally asking her ancestors for forgiveness, the mare spoke calmly, "Poloma." it felt like walking on a sprained ankle, but she kept up a fair smile.

The brown mare examined the female some more. She was different to say the least and she was very quiet. How was Kahlil and her going to have a fun date if either talked? But she supposed it was best for Kahlil to have a quieter mare then a very outspoken one. It would probably scare him away if she was. "Ah...Poloma..that is an interesting name to say the least." She shrugged her shoulder carelessly before walking away from her a little bit. The mare was striking and beautiful. She didn't think there would be someone from her list of suitors that would be this simple...yet so pretty. She felt jealous. Why should she be jealous? Love wasn't her thing and she didn't want to end up like those stupid lovey dovey couples. Oh how boring they were. She would no sooner jump off a cliff then be one of those. She didn't know what to ask at first. What they could talk about? Poloma hadn't met Kahlil yet so she couldn't ask anything related to that.

"So what will you do on your date with my best friend?" She asked her with a narrowed gaze. She would have to ask something as a way to test her. She didn't want no whore or skank going near Kahlil. She promised him that and she would return the favor. "I just want to know what kind of mare you are. Where your priorities are and if your looking for nothing more then a good time." She said to her snorting a little and nudging the mare very lightly. She didn't want to hurt the poor girl on their first meeting. "Kahlil is my best friend. He is kind, sweet, quiet and very passionate even though he doesn't show that side often. He doesn't think to high of himself though...which bothers me because he is a great stallion. What I'm getting at..is....do you think you can be the mare that makes him feel comfortable with himself? Make him appreciate that he is beautiful in every way?" She asked her and wanted to puke because she NEVER EVER talked like this.

The use of speech was a dampening affair, and blinding to one's true identity. It was more of a distraction than anything. But Poloma had unintentionally became a bit tolerant to it, sometimes not even noticing someone was even speaking to her. Body language is what counted, and what determined your true self. Just as the night did, or the dawn as it broke over the horizon. To simply take in the aura, the vibe, the presence that one emitted from their very being was what was truly the way to connect and communicate.
It was starting to sadden and make the mare feel repressed that this ideal wasn't even heard of, or understood. It was as if a piece of herself was being forced to retreat in a deep cave, while being contorted to adapt to this new way of commuting. Were words so important here..? by the way she was going about meeting random characters, it seemed as such...

Her eyes lowered a little to look at the stream by her hooves, her soft features etching slight worry, or perhaps it was distress... either way, she was feeling a bit of regret for leaving her herd. It seemed she would have to change her whole way of life to be heard, to be seen, to be given the time of day. Was that really something she wanted?
It made her pause to think, just barely catching the sound of the other mare's voice, making an ear twirk. Drawing out of her deep thoughts, the doe-like female rose her gaze again to resume a gentle smile, unfased by the loyal definsive behavior of Nukpana; which was quite appropriate. After all, she didn't know who this new Cerynei was. Poloma didn't hold it against her in the slightest.
In fact, she found it quite sweet. Her own friends back in her tribe were protective of one another, but more in the sense of guarding each other from bad omens or unwanted company. How ever, this was no different a situation. The chestnut mare was concerned for her friends well-being. And Polo was to be tested. With a small tip of her head, eyes closing, Poloma said nothing. She simply stood, listening, feeling, focusing. After a moment, her head lifted, and she smiled again, stepping towards Nukpana to tenderly touch her cheek, and retreat slightly. Her head gave a turn to the mountains, and eyes slid back to the inquisitive female, as if to gesture to them. The mountains were like her family. She knew them inside and out. They spoke to her, protected her, provided for her. In this gesture, it indicated for more than one answer to her questions. For one, the mountains were the best place to get to know her. Second, as they were her kin, she would give this mysterious stallion the same approach as she would a new member of the herd. Of course... the testing mare might not understand this, but perhaps if Poloma showed her, then she just may... if she could show this new acquaintance her world, maybe then a wall could be broken, and two completely different worlds could finally touch.

Nukpana eyed Poloma very closely seeing how she acted at questions and talking. She was a very quiet mare. Maybe a little too quiet for her, but it was something Kahlil would probably enjoy. The company of someone else that was very quiet and not annoying loud. She laughed lightly at the thought before moving to the mare's side again eying her closely once more. She watched her gesture closely seeing the mountains. Was this her way of letting her know things? She didn't mind it all that much, but it wasn't something you encountered everyday. So she was guessing the mountains is where the mare came from. This was something of interest, but sadly this wasn't something she had in common with the female. Not that it mattered anyway. She wasn't the one that had to have something in common with this female. "I see so your from the mountains? That isn't too bad.." She said lightly trying to think of what it would be like to even live in the mountains. Probably sold and very unpleasant to say the least.

She turned away from the leering mountain top before moving away from her giving a slight jerk of the head to tell her to follow her. "Come." She said simply as she began to walk. Yes she was going in the direction of where she knew Kahlil would be. This was simple enough, but she still felt emo about it. "You seem fine to me..I think you two would really get along well." She said to her and snorted at her own words. Why was she acting so...so..mature all of a sudden? She hated this kind of this and now she was making a couple happen. "If he upsets you let me know. I would be more then happy to pummel his little delicate skull in and vice versa." She said sternly as they continued to walk wondering if the mare felt nervous. Hell she was nervous and she wasn't even the one on the damn date. "Are you nervous? You shouldn't be..he is a great stallion and won't hurt you..well he shouldn't at least." She said shrugging a bit as she continued to walk really hating now that she put herself through this.

It was a rarity for the young mare, but she was finding herself quite comfortable around Nukpana. She didn't seem hung up about the fact that she didn't speak so frequently, or much at all with this first time meeting. It in turn allowed her to get a sense and feel for what the earthy brown mare was like. Even if she did speak, but it wasn't a great deal, thus it wasn't distracting in the slightest. Giving a little nod as she was questioned of the towering rock foundation, the Cerynei gave a light smile. Perhaps Nukpana had visited there as well. At the way she spoke of it, it made the stubby tail Poloma had been give wiggle briefly like a flickering flame. Maybe there were ways she could find a common ground with those who were native to these lands. Time and patience. Key elements and words to go by from her tribe. All thing's would come when they needed, there was no need to rush or hurry. Or the outcome might not be as it should...

Giving one last wistful look to her beloved homeland, the soft palomino turned her attention back to her newfound ally, ears swiveling forward at the command. But she didn't falter, and did as she was asked of, falling in stride beside Nukpana, a light and calm expression dawned along her already soft features. But Polo could easily tell the other mare wasn't in as high spirits as she. Blinking, her tan bangs covering an eye, the smaller female reached her neck out to tenderly nose Nukpana's cheek in a sort of comforting or encouraging means. She was thankful for the positive feedback, and conclusion, but was much more now concerned for the other mare. She seemed... pained, or hurt, perhaps. Did it have something to do with the new stallion that was going to be introduced? Perhaps the words she'd uttered before weren't all truth... brows collecting in a subtle distressed fashion, Poloma watched her company carefully. Ears flickering as more words were spoken, she smiled slightly, and giggled very faintly. She was sure that wouldn't be necessary, nor the case. The little she had been told of him, he sounded like someone that wouldn't cause much trouble at all. But Nukpana's spirit was to be appreciated. Giving thought to the question, her ears wavered, and her eyes fell to her cloven hooves below her. Now that she thought about it, she wasn't too nervous really. More curious than anything. The few Soquili she had met down here were all so different and varied, but all relied so heavily on speech...
Speech... At this realization, her ears did drop slightly, smile becoming more neutral. Hopefully he wouldn't be too displeased with her quiet ritual... But.. if he was... Well, now she was nervous. In response, she gave a very slight nod, the excitement being replaced by uncertainty. Would he have similar views as she? Being hurt wasn't something she was worried of. As she had been raised on the mountains, she was an agile and sturdy girl. She could take a hit or two. But... her mind returned back to the dilemma she'd been facing with almost each new meeting. Was it because she didn't speak that she didn't see any of the other Soquili anymore...?
This was quite a worry now...

The brown mare looked back to her quiet companion finding a little comfort in her quietness. She usually didn't like something like that, but this time she did. It was comforting and nice. She didn't understand it, but maybe she would at some point in her life. After all she was a loner so maybe it was because of that. She didn't know what to say to her at this point. What good was talking to her anyway? She wouldn't say anything back so was there a point to it? All she did was stare and make different gestures with her nose. Other then that it was like talking to someone that was mute. She didn't know how to take it or if she wanted to take it a different way. it was better the way it was wasn't it?

She looked ahead of her before stopping and turning around fully to look at the mare. "Don't be afraid or nervous. Trust me he isn't going to harm you or think lowly of you. He isn't like that." She said and what on earth was she talking about. She hated that she was being so kind about the whole situation. Where did her chomping and kicking go? This was an occasion where she should do it right? She gave a snort. She didn't have the heart to hurt this mare. She only assumed it was because she was for Kahlil. She couldn't do that to her only friend. It would probably hurt him and hurt herself as well. She didn't want that. "Alright well he is nearby. Probably just up ahead if I'm not mistaken." She gave a firm now and sighed deeply. "Look...I am not normally this nice to anyone, but your not that bad. Better then most other loud mouth female's that scream and whine about babies. Just be the best mare you can be for him. Whether it works out or not, but I doubt it won't work out. Your more his type then I first thought." She nodded before nudging the mare lightly. "Now get going. He isn't going to be waiting forever and you shouldn't do the same." She smiled.

She was happy for once. Happy that her best friend might find happiness though she couldn't say the same for herself. It could happen, but then it might not. "Go on." She said nudging the mare from behind forward. "He won't bite you." She laughed a little bit. It felt good for her to laugh. It was something she hadn't done in a while and actually meant it.

The chestnut mare's words were encouraging, and kind. They helped the now worried Poloma to smile lightly, and watch Nukpana's body language closely. The relation that Nuk and this Kahlil fello seemed to have was a close bond much like the Cerynei had with her herdmates. She was to be trusted, and her word to be taken to heart. After all, from all the good things that she'd heard of him, it'd given her hope that maybe they could strike a chord with one another. It would be nice to have someone to spend time with. It'd been rather lonely here, wandering aimlessly, and having unpleasantly short and brief run-in's with other Soq, who were never to be seen again... Hopefully this would last...

Her soft eyes turned to listen as she was instructed, the young mountain mare smiled fondly to Nukpana. To share such a love for another was amiable, and easy to respect. It gave her hope that things would turn out for the two to meet. Glancing towards where they'd arrived, Polo felt a flutter of excitement and nervousness slightly stir in her stomach, resonating to her little tuft of tail to make it flicker. Staring towards where the unknown stallion was hidden, a shy little smile couldn't help but to curl on her features. Nodding subtly to Nukpana, the wind rustling her bangs to make her covered eye bare, she felt the strength and curious nature begin to unsheathe to it's normal capacity.

With the encouraging nudge, Poloma trotted a few steps forward, and looked over her shoulder to the other mare. Watching her a moment, she paused and turned back around. With that, she touched noses with Nukpana, and closed her eyes, "Thank you.." she softly muttered, giving a silent prayer to the watchful ancestor's to keep an eye on her newfound friend. Hopefully she would meet this mare again, as she felt a great kinship in her. Stepping back, smiling to Nukpana once more, Polo turned and trotted to where Kahlil lay. With an open heart and mind.
