It was warm for a winter's night. The sky was bright and crisp with the promise of spring coming soon. Though it was not yet warm enough for the sounds of insects the wind did blow threw the dried grasses and from time to time there was the sound of a fish flicking at the surface of the waters in the swamp. Along with these subtle sounds there was another that sounded more loudly in the night. A sloshing sound of hooves stepping threw the shallows of the swamp waters. Popping of mud and murk as it struggled to hold the hooves down despite the strong legs lifting free of the suction.
In the haze shadowing the edge of the swamp a figure moved. His green coat blended him into the haze when he stood still but as he moved his outline became more clear. Acompanying the sound of the stallion's movement threw the mud there was a soft rattling and chiming of chains. Dark brown eyes scanned the heavens in between scanning the grounds for movements or any signs of life.

((Dooma, could you just correct the title so that Orion's name is spelt correctly for me? XD Sorry to be a pain!)) Orion beat his wings. One two three four. One two three four. One two three four. He didn't really have much practise or grace when it came to flying, the skill not something he could learn until he was grown since his wings had been useless and nothing more than buds as a child. Of course even in adulthood he refused to use them, a reminder of his kalona blood due to the claws and spikes that ruined his dragonfly wings.... but today he had been left with no choice.
Something had been following him, and Orion had been sure that it had been someone with malice intent.... Orion was not happy about that, he disliked company, disliked being around anyone in the fear that the trumor of his childhood would reoccur. He wasn't a freak! He wasn't..... tears had flowed freely that day and the confidence of a young colt had been destroyed. Since then only two people meant anything to Orion, his mother Edel and his sister Lior. No one else mattered, no one else got close to him.... he simply couldn't allow it. Pain came with trust. And Orion didn't like pain.
And so he had forced himself to take to the skies in a desperate attempt to escape what had been watching him. But due to his lackings in that area he kept dipping and rising without the knowlegde or skill to correct it. Several times he had nearly crashed into the trees and only his determination to remain alone had kept him going.
The trees started to thin below him, opening up to..... a field?
Relief flooded Orion and he finally brought himself lower in an attempt to land. He expected it to be as ungraceful as his flight and he was right. The moment his first hoof touched down he found it being sucked down.... how? Shock and horror consumed his expersion and he forgot about landing.....
SMASH! BANG! CRASH!
Orion landed face first into the swamp. Still confused about what had just happened.

))Oh god I am so sorry bout that XD I must have hit the wrong keys. It is all fixed <3((
As his late night stroll continued on a strange distorted sound caught the moss green stallion's attention. His ears flicked as he tried to pin point the origin of sound. His ears brought his eyes up to the star filled sky as the stone eyes scanned the heavens his weight sunk him deep into the mud.
For a moment the swamp living stallion forgot all about the distorted whomping sound as he looked down at his mud engulfed hooves. He gave a slight curse under his breath. He had lived all his life in the muck and wetness alone, he had not allowed himself to get caught since he was a foal. If he found the source of the sound he prayed it was worth it if not he had every intention of ruining it. Taking a few slow breaths he started to wriggle his legs working to free them up.
A flicker in the night caught his attention. It was as if a bit of heaven was falling free. A patch of night came diving into the the swap. He watched as the figure of a male's leg seemed to get stuck and felt hard into the plushness of the turf. It was hard to stifle a snicker at the scene but he flicked his tail and slipping his legs free of the mud he started to make is way to the muck covered fallen star. He shifted to step up on a drier surface to look over the fallen stallion. "It looks like the swamp has claimed another." he said in a gentle friendly tone, one that seemed not often used. "I would not struggle too much to get out or you will only dig yourself a wet cold grave." He said as he lowered his head down towards the other. his nostril flaring as he took in the unfamiliar scent.

Orion cursed under his breath and worked his head out of the water, it was cold and damp and thick.... mud?... covered his face, mostly likely distorting the star like markings that resided there. He blinked, finding himself face to face with..... someone.
He froze, he had escaped one creature only to stumble, literally, into another. It seemed today was simply not his day. He cursed again and tried to work his rear hoof free. It took several attempts, but as he continued to try Orion folded his wings up, the panels folding to sit one on top of the other until it appeared to be only a single panel on either side. To Orion his wings were a constant reminder of his faulty genes, of the hated blood that coursed through him. Even his mother blaimed his father for the weaknesses in him...... if only his genes had been better, stronger, perhaps Orion would have turned out completely differently?
He lowered his gaze, unable to hold eye contact for long. "What do you want?" He asked, in Orion's experience others didn't talk to him unless they wanted something, and they certainly never offered advice without a reason. He was sure this would be no different.
Finally he worked his hoof free, he stepped forward, hoping that moving would help keep him out of that situation again.
((Nah don't worry about it XD It happens! Easily done. Thank you very much for changing it for me though. *huggles*))

Stumpf Tesa watched as the other stallion struggled to free himself. He was using a lot of energy trying to simply pull up and free himself. Though it was smart to pull his wings in. And those really were some fascinating wings. Not that wings would help out much in the swamp, well other than flying over the goo and water helping him keep dry, but there was always the struggle of the trees and vines to dodge.
When the other male finally pulled free he did smile , "Well I was mearly offering to help ya out of your sticky situation." he said with a soft snort. "But it seems you did alright on your own. Moving helps keep you free enough...but right over here is a dry spot if you wish to catch your breath." He took a few steps back to allow the other to step up if he chose too.
It was not hard to see that the other male seemed to be in some kind of predicament. From the speed of his flight and the sternness of his voice. Knowing it was none of his business did not stop him from asking, "Ya running away from something? If you need to hide the swamp is a good place for that." he said evenly.
Normally Sumpf Tesa would not talk so much but it had been too long since he had seen another that even if it was one sided it was nice to have someone to talk too. "Though ya can fly I can show ya to a place to dry off a bit more and not get yourself stuck in anymore mud, at least until your wings dry off."
))Your welcome. I had to chance it of course. It is not fun to have the wrong name up XD((
