Rei had just settled down after a long tiring race against a small and annoyingly agile gazelle. If the poor thing hadn’t tripped, the orange lion would probably have lost a meal but as it were, though parched and exhausted, the young lion had been successful. He’d followed his prey all the way to the edge of a tiny waterhole and the water was too tempting for his dry tongue to resist. Reluctantly, after panting in his spot for a few minutes, Rei stood up and moved to the water’s edge, weaving through the tall foliage that finally concealed his body as he crouched down to drink. The cool liquid healed his mouth instantly and the lion sighed contently before lowering his head to drink again, his hunger slowly becoming Rei’s main interest once again.
