 She didn't know anymore. She didn't know what to do with herself. She had been loyal, she had waited countless days, she had hoped he would come home, prayed to the Moon Fox, even bore him kits, and yet, where was he? Why was he always gone? Where was he when she needed him? She had been alone when she was pregnant, been alone when she gave birth, and been alone raising her three sons. The other three were with their father, she assumed. He had taken them, and had not returned since. It was like they were not mates anymore. Almost as if he.... wasn't there for her anymore. She needed help. Hell, she needed someone to teach her kits how to act as men.
She worried.
She worried they would grow up unhappy because they did not have a father. Shai was their uncle, and he was always around to help. And Ari, her Elder, he was there as well. Even Anjafey popped in once in awhile to assist, but, they weren't their father. How could he do this to her? How could he declare his undying love, make her his life-mate, even knock her up and than vanish?
She had been so stupid. She had fallen for it. When he returned she thought he'd stay, so.... she acted... immature. And because of that she had six children, and now it was entirely her fault that they would not have the life she wanted for them. Because she hadn't thought it through. Though, they were her joy.
When Rendo had vanished she had thought her heart would break, and it had. She waited patiently, and still did. But her kits had healed that hurt heart just a little. She had something to live for, something to protect. And it was the three little kits that were currently playing outside in the moonlight.
Rush, Hikaru, and Kaoru.
Her babies. She wanted to see her other children one day, but until then she was happy with her three sons that were by her side. They made the pain stop, just a little. They made her smile. They loved her, and in return she loved them.
"Boys, the sun will rise soon, time for bed."

 Kaoru and Hikaru were known for ditching Rush. For favoring one another company instead of his. Things had changed since then, since Tamaki had entered their lives and began to change their point of view. Now, Rush was playing chase with them. He was finally being part of the twins lives for once. Kaoru didn't know wether this felt good....or strange, having someone other than Hikaru laugh and play and talk with him. Maybe it felt both.
The sound of his mothers voice made the orange eyes male look up, ears flick. Momma. He worried for her. He worried a lot. He couldn't help it. He could see the pain in his mother eyes whenever she woke in the morning and found no one beside her. He saw the envy and anger when she glanced up couples. And he saw the way she winced when Hikaru or Rush asked where 'Daddy' was. He had stopped asking that question, he didn't want to hurt his mother anymore.
In the end, he knew if he saw the man that was his father again he would give him a thrashing. He was not a father Kaoru was proud of. He had just left his mother behind, and this left Kaoru with a bitter hate. When he choose to care for someone he cared for them more than anything. His father had never been there to watch them grow, and even if he returned right before they became adults he wouldn't forgive him for the pain he had brought upon his mother.
No, he couldn't.
"Okay!" Kaoru cried back. He always tried to be good when she was around. He couldn't help it he liked to play pranks and sometimes felt bitter towards others that mistook him for Hikaru, but when she was around he tried to be good. He wanted to make his mother happy for once. He wanted to not add to her pain.
 It wasn't just Kaoru that was angry at Rendo. He felt a burning hot, bitter, white fury that twitched inside him whenever he saw his mother grimace. Shai, Ari, they were men he wanted to be one day. Men that had mistakes in the past, but owned up to them. Men that were trusting and strong, who had been through a lot. He wanted to be like them. Not his "father". Not the man that was part of his gene-pool.
Sometimes, he was scared. Scared that because he was related to this man that he would leave the people he loved to. Oh, he wasn't doubting that his father loved his mother, but why wasn't he around then? Why had he let her give birth alone? Why had he let her raise kits alone? Why had he taken three of his brothers, and left them to be alone? Why? Why did he do this to Nuishan? Why did it hurt so bad, to know that you couldn't help the person you loved stop hurting?
These were questions he always held in his mind. He was the more emotionally immature one of the twins, and his fury burned hotter. He wanted to protect Nuishan. If he ever returned he wouldn't let him hurt her again. He wouldn't let him near her. He wouldn't. His mother was so close to leaving him behind that if she did, he would protect her from ever having to see that mans face again. Yes, he was his father, but that didn't mean he needed to be kind.
When Kaoru spoke he glanced up, not realizing his mother had spoken. With a grumble, he shook his head, eyes narrowing. "Awh come on, just five more minuets?"  Rush didn't know if he hated his father or not. The twins were set in stone. They felt abandoned, they knew their mother hurt, and they were angry. He...he had hope. Hope his father would turn around and come back. Was this because he was devoted to his family? That he didn't know what to do if the fact his father wasn't returning was the truth? No, he didn't want to think that. He wanted to believe in him.
He wanted to think they'd be a happy family again.
He knew the reason why Nuishan smiled sadly when she looked at him and Hikaru. Their eyes. The same as Rendo's. She loved them, but her heart ached every time they did something like him. Anything them smiled at her with wide blue eyes. Maybe...Maybe he didn't want his father to return. Not after what he did.
No! He couldn't think that! They would be a happy family one day! He would see his other brothers...one day! He was happy he and the twins looked like Nuishan. He wondered what his daddy looked like, and if he had come out like daddy if Nuishan would hurt even more? Maybe he did look like daddy? He had never asked before...just assumed he looked like his mother because he was black and white....just like her.
Her voice cut through these thoughts, a smile on his face when he heard Hikaru. "Yeah, just five more, mom?"

Nuishan sighed, nodding quietly. Fine, ten more minuets was fine. She could get their beds ready. She knew she should be letting the carers of Lunarie look after them, but she just couldn't let them be alone anymore. She needed them around. They would stay in Lunarie, right beside her, and this made her breaking heart feel more whole.
"Five more minuets, and then you three are coming straight to bed. I'll go set up your beds. I'll be back." She mused, padding to the den she had made for them. She slipped inside and pushed their little bundles around until they looked comfortable, ears flicking backwards.
Rendo was supposed to be here....

Kaoru watched his mother pad off, looking at his siblings. He wanted to do something nice for her. She knew they were almost ready to grow up, but maybe he could do something kind for her to make her smile for real. His orange eyes settle on his brothers, a smile on his lips.
"Lets get momma some flowers." He mused, tail flicking side to side.
"Flowers?" Hikaru mused, head tilting. He turned to Rush, nodding when Rush smiled and shook his head 'yes'. Fine, if Kaoru wanted to then he would do it, though he doubted flowers would make his mother truly happy. She didn't care about any flowers, she cared about her mate.
"Kay, lets go do it." He called out, the three splitting up.
Rush ran off, scooping up the flowers he found during his mad dash. Five minuets was hardly any time to find anything really pretty, but when he turned around he saw both his brothers had a mouthful of various flowers, his own bundle carried delicately in his mouth. He turned around to pick one more before returning to the other two, tail wagging. When his mom came out of the den and approached, the three headed straight to her, dumping their bundles.
"For you, momma."
"We got these"- - -
- - - Just for you."
