I have NO idea what insipired me to do this (probably the various different parodies of the song I watched on YouTube) but several months back I got the idea to make a parody of the song "California Gurls" by Katy Perry about Marching Band! I love to write (and like to think I'm rather good at it 0w0) so I got hard at work with this. Although my Mom read part of it and thought it was good, I have my doubts. Although writing is a huge hobby of mine, poetry and songwriting never really have been my forte, so feedback is greatly appreciated! I was considering asking my Band Director to let the band and guard film a music video to it to put on YouTube, but in the end I decided against it. That's why I'm posting the lyrics here instead. Please, if you wish to post this somewhere, ask me for permission first and give me credit for writing the lyrics for it! Oh, by the way, I used the Snoop Dogg version because I would have more to work with and it would be more fun. Also, at the bottom I put two links to other Marching Band parodies of popular songs that I watched and enjoyed, so check those out as well! Enjoy!
Disclaimer: I do NOT own the music or the original song. This is just a fanmade, nonprofit parody. All rights go to Katy Perry, Snoop Dogg and their associates.

Marching Band Kids
Welcome Band Kids, set up on your dots now!
I know a place
where the sun is always too hot.
Hot, sweaty and gross.
There must be something in the asphalt.
Sippin' water jugs,
checkin' out your dot sheet.
(And then)
Kids pass by
tryin' to get a little sneak peek.
(At us)
You could travel the world
but nothing is better than a Texan marcher.
Once you've practiced with us
you'll fall down on the ground!
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh!
[Chorus]
Marching Band Kids, we're all so crazy!
Soffee shorts, practice shirts on top!
Sunburned skin so red
it hurts to look at!
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh!
Marching Band Kids, we really like it!
Hard work and committment to this!
Sections represent
now put your horns up!
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh!
March, on concrete.
We get holes in our tennis shoes.
Some kids can't take heat.
And that's when they'll pass out!
Oh, oh!
You could travel the world
But nothing is better than a Texan marcher.
Once you've practiced with us
You'll fall down on the ground!
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
(Chorus)
Bored, tanned, tired, but ready.
Turn it up, I can't hear the metronome.
Why's this such a long marching show?
Uh-oh, there's a truck to tow!
Set up for a run, this should be fun.
Spin it, play it, march it too.
Oh!
These kids afraid I'll freak
If they don't stay on beat.
But I'm okay, so just play.
Listen to your president, Brian Day.
Trumpet players and Color Guard kids.
Why's this band so freakin' big?
Standstill, or march it out.
After practice, hanging out.
Flutes, clarinets, trumpets, tubas.
The whole band just doing the show.
Mr. Vela, our director.
Yeah?
Do we watch Drum Majors?
Uh-huh!
We got a Football game tonight, so let's try and get it right!
[Chorus]
Marching Ba-and!
Marching Band Kids, yeah!
Marching Ba-and!
Marching Band Kids, yeah!
~End~

Ah, that's so cool! I wanted to do a parody of "I Gotta Feeling" based off of our marching band. But I keep procrastinating x) I'll get around to it.

But anyway, I would be so down to sing this smile

Someone wrote a parody of that song, forgive me if I get the name wrong, but you guys should know it. It's like I throw my hands up in the air sometimes? Yeah.
Well in our band someone made a parody of that about band, and it was written on the board for a few weeks until it got erased.

Haha thanks. Yeah I don't listen to that genre of music often so, thanks for helping me on that one! The version our girl wrote was funny though. She played mellophone so the second line was, "Sayin (singin?!) hey-oh, I play the mello." I thought it was cute. :3
