There was little to be done this evening: hardly a soul walked the lonely halls of the Team Rocket Headquarters, and it was the perfect time for Lilith to talk a little stroll about. It gave her both a chance to stretch her legs and think to herself - perhaps she could figure things out on this rare constitutional. First thing that came to mind was her Pokemon. She had to train them more often, she knew, and she felt like perhaps they were lacking the proper exercise to stay in tip-top shape. If they were not in prime condition for any given moment, she might be totally unprepared for a sudden attack on the HQ. She could get hurt, or they could get hurt, or maybe they would all get injured or perhaps die, and if they survived, she would get her Pokemon taken away and she would get demoted...! Lilith slowed her pace and blinked. She was rambling in her head. A hand reached up to scratch the back of her neck, and her feet began to move again, quickly making their way up to their normal walking pace. In any case, that was her Pokemon. What about herself? She had so much going on... though it didn't really seem it. She had to keeping trying to do whatever she could to finally get herself promoted, she kept having to go to Isadora whenever she could, she had Sorano... Ah, yes. Right there was a key point: Sorano. While she might not dare admit it out loud, just thinking about him and that day on the beach only a few days ago made Lilith's heart go a-flutter. She chuckled to herself as she walked. Oh, what would she do without Sorano? ...What would she do without Sorano? That sudden thought only made Lilith think of one thing: Lennyka. Sorano did mention her when they were on the beach the other day and how she might... kill him. Would she really do that, Lilith had to wonder. Would she kill her only brother? ...Wait, was Sorano really her only brother? From the way Lennyka seemed to cling to him when she and Lilith first met, she supposed so. But still... She had threatened bodily harm on Sorano and on her. What was she supposed to do? Keep looking over her shoulder every time she walked down the halls...? Lilith stopped. She suddenly had the idea to do as she just thought and look behind her. After a moment of silence, she shook her head and chided herself in her head. She shouldn't be so paranoid. What Len said... They were just empty jokes, right? Of course, there was a fine line between jokes and threats. At that moment, all time seemed to slow. Lilith felt a hand reaching up to grab at her collar, but both of her hands were still. A sharp tug followed, making Lilith cry out and stumble back, back, back into an open, abandoned room behind her. The sound of the door shutting made Lilith look up in fright from her fallen position on the floor. Her own hand trembled as it delicately grasped her stretched collar. Lilith was able to only make out one shaky word. "L-... L-Len?"

She didn't answer, simply regarded her guest with her head lolled to one side; contemplating unknown items. After a moment, far too long of an unbearable moment, she spoke.
"Fool."
Yet, the tone of her voice was off. She had not laid eyes upon her thrown victim but rather spoke upwards towards the ceiling, mocking only really one deity who stood high to the Heavens. A guffaw of disgust raised her lips but hardly crackled a sound. Suddenly, her eyes traced themselves back to the face of Lilith and scrutinized vivacious emeralds that stared back.
"Where's your Almighty now?" she laughed, leaning her back against the door and clicking the lock shut with her right hand. Her eyes never left that face who had stolen her only family.
"Who's going to save you now?" she smirked next than turned, now staring at the ashen gray of painted metal. Pulling out her cell, she dialed but one number . . . the only number in her contacts and spoke: "He who gave us life. He who gave us light. We bow to you in the night. Watch us as we slumber and lay us to rest. Ave Arceus, il nostro creatore (Hail Arceus, our creator (Google translate sucks x<)). "
Ah, her mother's prayer . . . every night forced upon her and her brother when they were young. How she hated it before her tea, as bed was always next. She turned back to Lili, clicking the phone off. '
"Sorano's coming, so you might want to make yourself pretty before he gets here."
The dial tone made him open his eyes wide. What the flippin' hell? There was only one other who knew that prayer . . . He was to his feet and running, trying to trace the call.

No doubt about it: Lilith was terrified. Her eyes were opened wide, the green in them shrunken down to small sparkling gems. Her breath and heart pace significantly quickened as her body turned her fight-or-flight response into high gear. Her fingers began twitching and a huge amount of adrenaline surged throughout her. Yes... Yes, she would fight against Len if she had to - if she absolutely had no other choice. She made a promise to Sorano, and by Arceus, she would keep it. But, alas, would Arceus protect her here, in the darkest of places? Did his divine light shine down on this small little room in the headquarters of one of the most unholy places on the planet Earth? Oh, how Lilith hoped so. Unconsciously, her mouth began to form quick, silent words of prayer to her deities, but her brain strained for the words to stop. Eventually, she willed them to cease their flow, but the words instead gushed through her mind. She did not believe that speaking prayers out loud would be wise in her current situation. Lilith raised her eyebrows in surprise at Lennyka's own prayer that she recited into the cell phone. That was the prayer of Arceus himself - one that she knew well, having been forced to have it drilled into her mind as a child. But... Why? It made no sense! This made no sense! Len made no sense! As soon as Lennyka mentioned Sorano's arrival, Lilith became very wary. Slowly, she gathered herself into a sitting position with her back against the side wall. Her eyes had narrowed - not quite into slits, but enough to make her suspicions about Len's motives clear. She spoke hesitantly, but tried to make her voice steady. "And why exactly do you want Sorano here...?"

"None of your business . . . none of your concern." she replied. "When he gets here, just keep your mouth shut and listen."
She leaned against the door now on the tip of her elbow, staring now at the floor. She slipped her glasses from behind the poles of her ears here, and shoved them in her pocket. Without them alone, she looked quite different. The removed glasses that made her cheeks richly plump and blush vanished those traits to thin air. Here, her true face shown . . . one of a sharp chin like her brother's, with womanly arches of the cheeks and nose from her mother and deep set, darkened to a scowl eyes like her father. Unlike a teen, she looked now like a woman. Twas why she was always considering her change to contacts.
"Almighty and most merciful Arceus; we have erred and strayed from thy teachings like lost Mareep. We have followed too much the desires and devices of our own heart. Preserver of mankind, grant us redemption from our faults."
Festival prayers were such a bore. They were always longer than bedside prayers, but seemed to be more confiding and hold more meaning. She still hated them though.
"Salvatore del genere umano. (Savior of mankind.) Ame-"
Her orison was cut short, the thick relish of Italian tang still upon her tongue. Was he close?
Hardly. Sorano was running all over the many floors, traversing grunt quarter through agent chamber. Where was Len?!
"If you scream a little, maybe he will get here faster." she said rather dully.

Lilith's mouth twisted slightly into a small snarl. What was Len playing at, dragging her into an abandoned room and calling Sorano to find them for who knew what? She took a chance to look up at her abductor and was amazed to completely see her face - without the glasses. Lilith blinked in her surprise. Why, without her glasses, Lennyka looked... womanly. Mature, one could say. This was not the Len that Lilith had first met crying her eyes out in the library. No, here was a woman who meant business. Lilith quickly recognized another one of the main prayers of Arceus, but this one was only spoken under certain circumstances: grave circumstances. She realized that she had almost forgotten that particular prayer, and the words and the meaning behind those words rang and resonated in her mind. They carried among them a deep feeling of guilt, one that penetrated Lilith to her core. She shuddered and felt her throat choking up. A urge to cry out in shame and fright welled up in her heart, but she bit it down violently. She would not give Lennyka the satisfaction of seeing her in pitiful, unyielding pain and agony. At Len's casual comment, Lilith merely gave a bitter chuckle. "Scream? You won't break me down to that level, Len. Despite yourself, I have faith in Sorano."

"He knows nothing of the janitorial closets in the base." she smugly said. "If he did, he'd be on this floor currently."
Sorano was growing weary. He had not been searching long but time was of the most important essence. By the gods, where was she- He looked at the cell in his palm and hesitated. Could he call her? She had a tacky little ring tone of a television theme she loved when she was younger. It's squeakiness should take lead him directly too her. Scrolling through the many contacts on his list (most of girls' number which were false but he kept anyway, mostly for bragging), he found the one titled "Lenny" and pressed OK.
Her phone went off in a vibrating spazz to her side, singing, "We two love, love, love, the woooorld around us! We two love, love, love . . . " to the silence of the closet space. It echoed down the hallways, and slanted eyes turned as ears caught the sound. She wasn't far. Would he make it in time?
Len simply smiled. "He's using his brain for a change." she laughed. Turning to Lili, she simply smiled. "Don't worry. He'll be screaming instead in a couple of minutes."
He's a liar.

"Humph." Lilith looked away, preferring to direct her attention to her feet than meet the eyes of her current tormentor. Sorano would surely reach her in time, yes? Yes, of course he would. He had to. What on earth would Len do to her... Lilith stopped. Wait... Lennyka hadn't done anything to her. Nothing but lock her in a closet to wait for Sorano. She stifled a gasp by quickly covering her mouth in alarm. Oh, Gods... This was a trap. And she was the bait. "...Brilliant." Lilith was, for lack of a better word, awestruck. Len was letting her... gaudy ring tone lead Sorano right to them. But then what? Oh, Arceus, why couldn't she get a sign?! Why could she do nothing to help? She couldn't warn Sorano away - if she succeeded in doing that, she would be left to Len's devices - and she could do nothing to Lennyka. All she could do was wait. Wait in horror.

Sorano was outside the door, pounding it with a hefty degree with his balled fist. "Len, Len are ya in there?" he cried.
Casually, like a servant to a monarch, Len opened the door and bowed. One arm curved under her bosom as she announced, "Your trapped princess awaits."
Sorano face twisted to awestruck as he strode a few steps forward. "Oh gods, Lili, are ya 'kay?" he asked. What the hell did his insane sister do? Did she hurt Lili-
Just than, like a bolt of lightening, Sorano was roundhouse with a deft punch to the face. The force stumbled him back to the flood, lip bleeding. What the hell? Was that from Len? It was like a punch from a man . . . and he knew the force quite too well, sparring with Moose back in Kanto and being punched by girl's boyfriends was he flirted like a fool.
He couldn't speak, but simply watched as Len rubbed her knuckles. "Pull up your sleeve." she said. "Now."
Arceus . . .

The pounding on the door screamed in Lilith's eardrums, and her heart simultaneously lifted and sunk like a stone. It was Sorano - it must be! He was here to rescue her! But...! He was playing right into Len's trap! Oh, Gods... The door opened and Sorano rushed in. The sight of him made Lilith try to scramble to her feet to meet him. Her eyes were beginning to tear up with fright and relief. "Oh, thank Arceus, Soran-" Her words of elation were cut short when her savior got deftly punched in the face. She gasped sharply and rushed to his side. "Sorano, all you all right?!" Panic began to set in. Lilith turned to look at Lennyka, who was rubbing her knuckles. Two and two clicked together in her mind, and Lilith quickly became enraged. "How... How could you!" Lilith gritted her teeth. Oh, this was personal now. ... Figuratively speaking.

"Step away from him." she said, almost in a command. "I told you, you are to only listen."
Annoyance clouded her brow than. Why can't this woman listen? This was business between her and her so-called brother. There wasn't much truth in that term now, considering what she had now discovered.
"Step away."
Sorano sighed, rubbing the loose stream of blood from his burst lip. "Lili, listen ta 'er." he breathed. "She won' kill me."
Arceus, he could read her so well . . . even in her current, disgruntled state. " 'ight now . . . she jus' wants ta talk."
"Get your woman away and roll up your sleeve." she pursed her lips. "I am not going to repeat myself again."
Sorano rolled up his sleeve as told and ushered Lilith away. "Go, please." he pleaded. "Please."

Despite herself, Lilith flinched away at the harsh tone spoken by Len. What was her problem? Hurting her brother like that and yelling at her? This girl had some serious- "What?" Lilith gaped at Sorano for a second, unsure as to what she had just heard. How could he be sure? What...? Slowly, reluctantly, Lilith backed away from Sorano, looking down. She was defeated. There was absolutely nothing to do; nothing but just do as Len said and listen. But what exactly would the confrontation of the two siblings reveal? Tears began welling up in Lilith's eyes as she stepped back against the wall. She had willed herself - oh, how she willed - not to cry in front of Lennyka, but she was too weak to prevent their passing, and the salty droplets cascaded down her face.

At that moment, Len removed Lilith's existence from the custodian keep. She unraveled a folded piece of something from her pocket, quite too thin for paper but too fine and glossy for any other material and thrust it in the face of Sorano. "Explain this." she commanded, as she watch Sorano's face twist to a chagrin. "Explain to me, everything, now." Sorano remained quiet and turned his head to the side. "Len, look-" he said, but something suddenly jabbed him on his upper arm and he bit his lip to not cry out. A sewing pin, wedged deep into the epidermis, stuck out like a pearl-pointed hair follicle. "I don't have any patience, speak now and tell me . . . everything." The flimsy item fell into his outstretched lap, revealing to be a quaint little photo of an expecting mother of orange hair, brown eyes and a familiar teal haired boy sitting together on a bench. Little Sorano in the photo seemed awed at something and it is this awe that kept the lie. "Explain," she said, but Sorano just seemed to bite his lip.

Silently, curiously, Lilith watched the drama unfold here in the abandoned closet at the basement of the Headquarters. There was nothing for her to do but sit and listen. Hell, she could probably even leave now without being stopped. She was just the bait, and the bait had been eaten up. Her usefulness had ended. Still, Lilith could not consider just leaving Sorano here alone with that crazed woman. She watched as Lennyka pulled out something from her pockets; something that reflected the dim light of the old closet, but seemed to have the consistency of thick paper. The first thing that came to Lilith's mind was that it was a note, but it looked too shiny to be a note. Perhaps it was a photograph...? Considering what Len was saying, that was probably her most reasonable guess. Lilith flinched as she saw Sorano tighten his face in pain. She ran her hair through her long brunette hair, at a loss for what to do.

"Sorano"
No reply.
In anger, she grabbed the crumpled paper and came close to smacking the picture in his face, eyes aglow with a terrible madness. "Why do I look like this woman!" she screamed. "Why do you look nothing like her, even as a child! Sorano, what have you been lying about to me?"
"Len, I-"
"Arceus damn it, Sorano, just tell me . . . what the hell is going on?"
"Augh, Len, I can'-"
She pursed her lips than, and stuck another pin deep into the length of his arm. He bawled out in a ghastly pain, sweat forming over his brow. The first one hurt like hell, but this one felt as though it stabbed the bone. He'd crap himself if he got another . . . pressured moments were not his strongest items to endure.
"A'right, I-I'll speak." he said, squinted eyes opening to her. "Len, yer not 'eally me full sis. Yer, um, me half sis."
He shot his glance at Lilith, looking for her reaction.
"What?" she blanched. "But how-?"
"Augh, if ya jus' pull out them needs an' let me-" Her expression was incredibly hard. She wouldn't. Why, it looked as though she'd finish the whole box she had on him if he did not get to talking and pronto. "A'right . . . Arceus, ya weren' suppose ta find out . . . "
"Talk, damn it."
"By tha gods . . . Pops, when he was dating' momma . . . erm, me own momma, he was to be engaged ta anotha' woman in Johto. 'Er name was Joanna Jickel. He promised ta marry 'er only 'cause her poppa asked her ta, 'cause she was dyin'. They were friends when they 'ere small, ya see. She had can-" He hated to say the word. "He'd visit her on 'ends by taken' tha train, ta check on 'er an' stuff . . . y'know? Howeva, he stopped visitin' fer a while since he gots me mom pregnant in Saff. Since they was pretty poor than, they didn' wed jus' yet. When I was born, dad started ta visit Joanna 'gain. The docs said she didn't have long an' well . . . Well, she wanted ta 'ave a kid a'fore she gots married ta dad . . . an' he obliged 'er only 'cause she didn' seem she 'ad long. Docs said she wouldn' make it through tha birth even though she did. Tha' picture ya 'olden' was takin' when I was two-"
"I don't care" she said. All this sounded like a cheesy, complex soap opera. Her a half child? True, she looked nothing like her so-called violet haired, violent mother but . . . really? She had been lied to for so long?
"How long have you known?"
"Years." he said. "I stumbled 'pon the pic like ya, came ta tha same conclusion like ya, an' was tol' tha same story like ya. I didn' wan' ta tell ya, 'cause ya were always an' emotional thin' since ya been-"
"Shut the hell up." she scowled. "Leave the sweet talk red-brown over there. Damn it . . . "
Really, she was told now? What a load of bull.

The glassy-green eyes that Lilith called her own went open wide - very wide - as she attempted to comprehend what Sorano had just said. Lennyka was... his half-sister? Not his true-blood sister? "Oh, Arceus..." Lilith could not help softly speaking out loud at the revealing of this obviously forbidden secret. Is this what Len wanted her to hear? And Sorano... He had known all along? And he had never bothered to tell his own girlfriend? Lilith felt like she had just been slugged in the gut. Hand clamped over her mouth, she shuddered and clutched her stomach. She was hurt. Very hurt. Perhaps not as much as Len might be at that same moment, but she felt like her trust had been betrayed. How could he...? How could anyone...?
