"So this is... the swamp. Huh." The look on Neilas face seemed less than impressed with her new surroundings. For someone so use to the dry grassy planes of unclaimed lands rogues wandered, there was no other way to discribe it except unplesant. Very moist could also work as a discriptor too, she supposed. The white lioness, who wasn't looking her best in the current situation, took a good looked around. This wasn't anything like how she had imagined this place to be. The humidity was bruital, and she hadn't seen a lion since she had entered the pride lands. No matter though, the point was this place would make for the perfect cover from her persuer. He would never suspect that she would join a pride to get away from him, and the cover her surroundings would be added insurance she wouldn't be found. And soon enough she wouldn't even go by her born name Neila, and her past life would be wiped away forever. Piece of mind was worth the frizz she could feel take over the tuff of hair on her head as well as on her tail. Thinking about it made her let out a sigh of reliefe, before making her way deeper into the swamplands.

Arufu was happily covered in mud. It wasn't too comfortable when it dried and cracked, but it was utterly enjoyable when it was still damp. No bugs, no itches. Hell, he even blended into the surroundings better when he had mud on his coat. When he didn't, he felt like he stuck out a lot. Perhaps not as much as that white lioness.
Wait, white lioness?
His pink eyes were a bit dazzled by her stripes, but she stuck out more than he would have if he wasn't so...muddy. Shaking himself off a bit, getting rid of a bit of mud, he struck out towards her, wondering if she was new...or just really really lost.

The lioness began to think about a new name for herself. Anything would be better than Neila, a name that was painfully close to her Moms. She was drawing blanks though; Neila wasn't the most creative creature and she was the first to admit it. Koda, she had just named after a lion she had met before, though that gave her an idea. Maybe she could name herself after a lion she had met before? Dauna perhaps?
Ew, no.
Her search for a new name would have to be put on hold though as Neila let out a gasp as she saw what looked like a lion pop it's head out a large mud puddle not to far from where she was standing. It looked to her as though he fallen in and was drowning.
"Hold on!" She yelled and ran up, getting as close as she could without getting sunk into the mud herself.
"Grab my paw" She held out her rather dainty sized paw, clawing into the unusually soft ground under her with the other paws. She wasn't sure if she would even have the strength to pull him up, especially without any traction, but she couldn't stand by and watch him drown.

Arufu blinked owlishly, taken by surprise at the sudden urgency in the air. He glanced around to see if someone else was stuck before returning his gaze on this white-yet-striped lioness. He inadvertently put his paw out to hers. A s soon as he touched it, he snapped back into reality.
"Oh!" Whoops. "No, no, I'm fine!" He slogged his way out of the mud, carefully not getting any on her. She obviously wasn't as comfortable with mud as he was. It was easy for him to love it, as he was born here. He wasn't sure if she was or not, but he was leaning towards...not.
Brushing some mud off of his forelegs with his paws, he cracked her a smile as he tried to show that he was fine. Just...very, very muddy. "Ahhh...sorry. I enjoy a good mud bath now and then."

"Come on... your almost there." Neila held her breath until finally she could feel the wet mud on his fur touch her paw pad for only a second before he quickly flung it back. The lionesses mouth gaped open as he simply stood up and trotted out of the mud puddle.
"Wait a minute, you went in that mud puddle on purpose?" The lioness has been to a lot of places and seen a lot of weird behavior, but rolling around in disgusting, dirty mud was just... well...
"I don't mean to be rude, but how do you find that enjoyable?" there was a cringing look on her face, as she finally set her paw down, rubbing it against some grass to clean off the little bit of mud she had gotten on it. Usually she would have been far more rude about how disgusting of lion he was, and how he needed to really find another hobby. However seeing a lion head to toe in mud intrigued her.

"Oh, it's amazing," he said with a big grin on his face, the damp mud slowly dripping off of him. His lavender mane was peeking through here and there, and it was possible to see the pale sandy colour of his coat.
"You'll just have to try it once to appreciate it! It helps keep bugs off, and gets rid of itches..." Sigh. He almost wanted to go back in there, but it would have been pretty rude to just dive right back in and ignore the lioness near him.
"Still...sorry to have scared you. I can admit that not everyone around here likes the mud as much as I do. It's a little difficult to completely avoid it, though."

Ah, so there was a practical reason behind this madness. "It gets rid of itches an bugs? I wounder if it could help with fixing what the humidity has done to my fur..." She crouched down near the mud to get a better look and started to doubt what the muddy lion had just told her. It looked like bugs were already in the mud! Then she dipped only the tip of her paw into the mud and slowly pulled it out. What a weird, and slightly cold, sensation. Could having mud caked onto every inch of your body really help get rid of itches Keili wondered?
"Ack, don't worry about it. Truth be told that if you had been in trouble, I doubt I would have been able to pull you out. In a way it was kind of a relief." She laughed nervously, trying to "gracefully" shake the mud off of her paw.

Arufu laughed, but there was no trace of nervousness like Neila's. "I'll....be right back," he said, after really taking notice to how she reacted to the mud.
He slinked off through some of the thicker, wetter parts of the swamp. There was a splash, and some smaller ones. After a bit, he emerged...soaking wet. But lacking a lot of the mud that he had on him just a bit earlier. He sat down not too close to her, and pushed his sopping bangs back so he could actually see.
"So uh, what brings you here?" he asked with a goofy look on his face.
