Sparkled tail swished from side to side as the lioness prowled forward with a confident step. It was high noon, and according to her loud stomach it was time to hunt for a meal. Something she took very seriously, to the point where her mood could be quite foul towards others if they pestered her. Which is why she moved swiftly, having just enough patience to tiptoe and skip ontop of the fallen logs, half sunken into the thick mud. Couldn't expect her to hunt too well with slippery paws, now could we?
As the mud began to shallow and soggy ground came to life, Mohana leapt forward to meet the borderland of the pride. It was always odd to approach here, almost feeling naked and vulnerable among the sparse trees and solid ground with grass. Mohana huffed and scolded herself for feeling so silly about the situation. It was only for a moment, so no need to act like a weak wimp. She would just find herself a quick and easy meal, enough to curb her hunger, then set back to her swampy home.

Mohana might not know it yet, but there were already some on the borders of the pride. Omi and her small band had only recently arrived to the lands, and the green lioness had decided that it was best to remain on the outskirts of the lands whilst they were still learning the comings and goings of the pride. Sure, they'd all passed the initial interview, but she knew there was still a way to go before they would be accepted completely. They'd all been given the title of Provisionary, she was told, and only when they found their true name were they to take on a more active role within the pride. This was one of the things that Omi liked. She liked the idea of leaving behind her old name. To her it would be like letting go of her past and everything that had happened, something she was eager to do as soon as possible. However, she didn't know how to go about finding a true name. Well, she thought, I'm sure I'll work it out eventually. For now though her time was to be spent learning and looking after the others. When her mother had first told her that they would be settling into a pride, Aiyana had been tentative about it. While she liked the idea of having a more stable area, with others to interact with, she wasn't sure about the fact that it might restrict her moving. She liked to explore, liked adventure, and with a pride, she might not be able to keep that. Never the less, she'd gone with her mother, out of love and sure that her decision would be the right one. And boy was she right! Aiyana couldn't get over the swamp. She loved every part of it. It was so interesting and different from what she'd known in the Savannah. The trees, the mud, the different animals and noise. She couldn't get enough. She couldn't wait to learn more about the place and to learn her true name. The other member of their small troupe sat quietly. She'd only recently joined them, but Kito had become an integral part of their group. She didn't say much, but she was hard working and eager to prove herself, and repay the favor which Omi and Aiyana had bestowed upon her a while ago. When she was told they were to be moving to the Swamplands she'd simply nodded and gone along. She couldn't remember anything about her life before she'd met Omi and Aiyana, and didn't want to be left alone in the open with no memory. She'd just nodded and followed along, talked to the Queen, and now here she was, sitting with the other two and wondering what there was to learn about this place, and how she would find her true name.

Ears pricked forward as the swamp lioness caught an odd sight. Well, not entirely odd....but something new and unexpected. Though it was hard to see, so Mohana darted forward to leap on a twisting branch, just high enough for her to spy over on the trio. Golden eyes took in the green, white, and brown fur while she debated if she'd seen them before or not. While they didn't look familiar, they had the well-acquainted scent of the pride on them. So, in the very least they were no trespassers.
Flicking her tail like an entertained house cat, she leaned forward with a smile. They were walking closer now, and had yet to spot her in the branch. "Going somewhere? If it's not of any appointment, then I can certainly use your assistance." Ah, Mohana....always looking for the easiest path. And why not? With four lionesses, they could possibly bring down a meal large enough to return home. She wouldn't mind sharing, if they were at all interested in the hard work.

Omi looked up at the voice she had not expected to be there. As far as she could tell, she, her daughter and her friend were alone. Guess they weren't any more. She looked to where the noise came from and saw a white face looking back at them. She could tell she was of the Swamp, she looked comfortable in the trees, in the surroundings. She could probably tell by looking at them that they were yet to be so comfortable. Never the less she wasn't scared, she'd joined the pride for a reason, and the Queen had said they could stay, so she had to meet new people and learn about her new home. Perhaps this lioness could help with that.
"Err, hi." Said Omi, her blue eyes looking to the questioner. "No we're not doing anything." She took a breath before adding. "We'd be happy to give you a hand."
Aiyana jumped when she heard to voice. She was surprised but wasn't scared. Instead she was intrigued, excited. And that spot looked so cool! That was another thing she'd decided she liked about the swamps. The trees were so big and so dense you could travel above the land if you really wanted. This place really was something. She listened as the stranger spoke.
"Oh!" She was definitely interested. Any excuse to do something, and when her mother said they would help she gave a little laugh of excitement.
Kito reacted slightly different than the other two. When she'd heard the unknown voice she'd jumped back, her ears flattened, a look of worry on her face. Whilst she could be a strong lioness, she was also very flightly, and often the smallest of noises could get her to react. When she saw it was just another lioness of the swamp she relazed slightly and listened. She nodded with Omi. They could help.

"Haha, hello there." Mohana twisted her tail in bemusement as she analyzed their reactions. At least none of them were violent or bitter in being spied on by the Swampie lioness, but they seemed rather at ease, or even excited, to see another feline. Well, except for maybe the pale lioness in the back. Her body language suggested one of submissiveness, if not just utter startlement.
Standing upright, the lioness peered around before finding an opening to jump and land on. With a pounce, Mohana was again eye-level with the trio, and she approached them with a grin. Hopefully it didn't look sinister or threatening with any of the mud smeared across her pelt. "Ah, truly? That brings me such delight, I'm grateful to your kindness." She paused a safe and comfortable distance from them. "My name is Mohana, although....I can't say I've ever heard of your names before? Are you still fresh to these lands?" Her golden eyes peered at the youngest of the group, before chuckling to herself. To think, she had just been that very same age not too long ago!

Omi watched the white lioness moved, she seemed at ease in the area, and her statement confirmed what she thought, she was a lioness of the swamp. Well, thought Omi, I guess now is a good a time as any to prove our worth. Even if it wasn't directly to the Queen, Omi felt that being part of the pride, they would have to prove they were capable of contributing to the pride life, and if this lioness needed assistance, then they would give it to her. "I'm Omi by the way." She nodded. "This," she indicated to the brown lioness, "is my daughter Aiyana, and she," she bobbed her head in the direction of the blue lioness, "is Kito."
Aiyana was getting restless already, she loved to be on the move, exploring, anything was better than sitting around with her mother and her friend doing nothing, even if she did enjoy their company. The brown lioness' tail flicked in excitement. "We've only been here a short time, we're hoping to join the pride," she beamed, very excited at becoming a full member of the pride.
Kito nodded as she was introduced and offered a small smile. "Nice to meet you," she said quietly and politely. The blue lioness had trouble talking to others, and it took a long time for her to talk with Omi and Aiyana, but eventually they broke down her walls enough so that she accepted them and they accepted her. The blue lioness was anxious about communicating with other members of the pride, not knowing how receptive they might be to her shy, secluded nature.
