We all do it, in some way or form. Practically no one has never shut someone out.
Society does, cultures do it, we all do it, even here on Gaia. It's called the ignore button or banning someone. There are reasons why people do it, IE due to racism, beliefs, personality clashes, what have you.
What I want to know is, what makes YOU shut people out and away from yourself.
I, personally, will shut someone out if they frustrate me to the point where I just cry. I did so to a few people last night due to a panic attack. Guild-wise, all they'd have to do is break the rules of the guild enough to warrant being shut out. I won't shut someone out because I merely don't like them. They have to warrant it, and for me it takes a lot for someone to make my ignore list.
If this is too dramatic or whatever, you can delete it.

Insulting me, my friends, my currently non-existant lover, my family, are being just overly excessively rude and extremely annoying.

If they hurt me so bad just their name upsets me, I shut them out of my life completely. They basically don't exist to me. I've only had to on just a few occasions.

I can't handle sexist/racist/homophobic/whatever people. Like, being around people like that makes me so uncomfortable and angry that I can't stand it and HAVE TO avoid them for my own mental health. They could be the nicest person in the world, but if being around them means constantly being offended, I just can't deal with that XP

I don't shut people out. I'll passive aggressively make your life hell for about three hours, but after that I calm down and we're peachy keen.
There are people I'd rather not deal with, but in the end I don't care either way.

IRL? They get confronted by me. No solution in sight? Just walk away, ignore them. If it gets to damn annoying i do get physical.

I meant that they could have great intentions and everyone else could think they were a saint, but if they're the type of person who makes offensive "jokes" and stuff like that, then I just... can't be around them. Sometimes I might even WANT to like the person and just CAN'T because of it xp

The second anyone demands respect is when I'll just ignore them.
Otherwise, just the usual stuff.

It takes a lot to make me shut someone out. I'm very quick to forgive and forget as long as the person means well, and most people do.
