Notice: This is for the leopards of Naita, Vashtya, TormentedAngie, Lilwerewolfgirl and Meepfur at their disgretion. All others posting in here must have requested permission or have been invited, thank you smile
Alone again. The serenity of the wildreness consumed the very air around her, leaving her speechless and, more importantly, breathless. The young lithe figure streaked in and out amongst the tall, overgrown grass and wildflowers, the tress and bushes. The large feline weaved in and out of the maze created by the dense vegetation, her destination unknown. She was just out to be out, to be free from the insanity that was the rest of the world around her.
A sniff here, whisker-twitch there, the soft footfalls of the large paws paused momentarily. Jade eyes scanned the terrain, looking for an opportunity to pounce anything that moved. Sleek and satiny, her dark pelt, speckled by barely visible spots shone in the tiny patches of sunlight that filtered through the canopy of trees above her. Sinewy muscle propelled the young leopardess forward once more, launching her at a tree, strong claws gripping the bark and pulling herself up, gaining a height advantage against all others within her path. Whether she was looking for a friend, or for dinner, the attention to detail was the same. Nothing went unnoticed by the leopardess as she once again scanned her territory, standing as a shadow-hued statue upon the branch she sat upon. To Tamani, this was heaven. Nothing, and no one could tear her away from her home now. She had lain claim against lions long ago, and would not be forced out now. This was home, she had every advantage against intruders, knew the lay of the jungle like the back of her paw. It was thus that she sat, stock still, waiting. For what, was anyone's guess...
Mkosaji padded down the path, closer to the crystal clear pool of water Tamani always inhabited. How the adolescent male had never stumbled upon Tamani, living in the same jungle the entire time, was a mystery, however small it was. The lanky teen stretched, front claws digging into the soil beneath the pads of his feet, a soft groan escaping the feline muzzle. Dark violet eyes closed, and he raised his head to sniff the air around him. Something seemed different about the jungle this time around, though he couldn't quite tell why. As he padded to the pool of water, the first time he'd seen it in his travels, the young leopard looked towards the path that lazed around to his right. An urge surfaced to head down that way, though why he couldn't figure out. Holding out on his inner voice though, the young male lowered his head to lap at the clear water in front of him.

The veriest shiver of leaves, a twitch of a branch announced presence, a surprisingly graceful landing for one so entirely out of line with his species when it came to agility. A tail wound the last moments of imbalance, lithe legs unclenched their muscles as the impact died away. Camouflage was difficult amongst the greenery, for an orange base held the many rosettes and galaxy-mark of a busy pelt. A large branch provided an easy perch, a pedestal, if you will, from whence the noble knight could survey.
Kitambi yawned deeply. So little adventure. So little fun had met his eyes of late, and it frustrated the young male deeply. Slim whiskers slicked back as his tongue lolled in the exercise, fanning once more as the powerful jaws snapped shut. "Need more dragons," came the murmur of boredom.

Maluuni'samio was tracking his brother with a certain measure of glee; he'd separated from his sibling awhile ago, but having come across his scent just earlier, he simply couldn't resist...dropping by. Swift paws fell deliberate and easy on the jungle paths, as the masked feline darted around tree trunks with the barest whisper of sound to mark his passing.
But as the adolescent drew closer in the hunt of his brother, he let slip a bubbling chortle that soon turned cackle, disturbingly dark and jubilant all at once. Of course, it also killed any measure of stealth he'd had going for himself, but he didn't seem to care.

Blackened ears twitched at the sound of leaves twitching, and a soft thump upon a branch nearby. Whiskers gently moved forward, testing the air in the direction of the intruder, seeming to taste the very wind around her form. Statuesque still, the dark leopardess remained on her branch, awaiting more indications of who had just intruded her silence.
It wasn't long she had to wait, before a soft voice was carried across the wind. A mention of dragons, and a memory was jogged from the depths of Tamani's mental files. Could this be the more defined, grown version of that cub she met so long ago at her crystal clear pool? Curiosity pequed her interest, and the young leopardess turned her head finally, giving the young male her time of day, even if he couldn't see it.
"It seems my jungle is once more teeming with life. Dragons you say? I know not of these creatures, but I'm sure there's plenty of other snackable bites running across your path, if you fancy to pause for a look..." Her voice was soft, yet honeyed. No sense running out one of her own kind, especially one who'd sworn protection over her so long ago. Courtesies weren't her specialty, but she still held her forked tongue with a grace unmatched by the heathen lions she watched from her trees as they wandered their way through.
Mkosaji blinked, startled by the yowl behind him, caught so offguard that the ungangly teen stumbled over his own overly large-ish paws, tumbling head over heels into the pool before him. Emerging, dripping wet from the surface of the water, the leopard looked around for his attacker, not sure what to expect after a noise like that. "What the-" His words were cut short as he sniffed the air around him. Another creature was nearby, and not hurt, so the noise couldn't've been something dying. Whatever it was, it sounded like it was getting closer, rather quickly.

A few locks of fur fell over one eye, the galaxy swirl between the pair partially obscured likewise, as the male looked to find one who spoke to him. Memories stirred, ah yes, a damsel he had once met. A grin served to lighten his rather airy manner at her words. Silly damsels, as if a dragon were a mere bite.
"I seek no morsels. I seek adventure! Fortune! ... and a little danger, of course. You have to pepper your adventures with dangerous feats." So having spoken, the leopard stretched one forelimb boredly, poking each claw out one by one, admiring it, and returning it to it's sheath, moving on to the next. Vanity was a failing heroes must fall prey to now and then, after all.

Mali coursed through the underbrush, until at last he burst forth from it, into view of the pool. He slid to a smooth halt at its edge, everything about his posture nothing short of cocky. And there was his brother, absolutely soaking wet.
"Mkosaaaji~" he crooned, maw splitting with a quirky grin, as one eyebrow raised loftily to regard his twin.

"Adventure you say? Danger? Why, these things are few and far between, unless you truly know where to look." Purring, the sound a deep rumble against the tree she was lain against, Tamani let her tail drape down past her branch, flicking in a fashion as to invite him up to join her. "Come, partake in a bit of calm enjoyment with me. It isn't every day a lady such as myself has the comfort of knowing her knight in shining armor has returned to converse with her for a while." Appreciation of his growth was not hidden, she made sure that her jade eyes scoured every inch of him, taking in the razor sharpness of his claws, right down to the alertness in his eyes. Yes, he could definately end up being a very useful asset in the jungle, someone to keep allied ties with at all costs.

Rolling his violet colored eyes, 'Saji's dripping form stalked closer to the other leopard. "Yes brother? I see you've managed to find me. Is there something I can do for you?"
Without another word, and without giving Mali a chance to reply, Mkosaji quickly began shaking the water off his dark pelt, spraying water in all directions, but mostly at his brother. It only was fair to share everything with his sibling, right? Including the fact that he was soaking wet.
"I feel better now. How about you?"

Such an invitation was not to be sneered at, and it was with great alacrity that the male slipped from his reclining pose, sliding his body with velvetine grace down the tree trunk, to meet the form of this familiarly strange damsel. Silently, he once more eased his body into a semi-reclining pose, though keeping the front of his body aloof of the ground, meeting those keen eyes with his own laughing gaze.
"And you, damsel, do you know where to look?" An obsession ran deep, and in Kitambi it was an obsession with heroism, with fighting the greatest of beasts, becoming the most beloved of heroes.

Oh how it was tempting. Oh so tempting to tell him to look into her eyes, that all the danger he ever needed was housed within them. So tempting, that she opened her mouth as if to say it, before closing it once more. What did she want to tell him?
"There are dangers encroaching upon us with every passing day. Do you not see the lions and cheetahs, who belong on the savannah instead of the trees, intrude upon us and our home daily, extending their 'territory' step by step? Not many have been seen, true, but their disgusting scents waft to our delicate noses, coming closer and closer each time we smell them. Worse than any dragon, I assure you..."

These words were perhaps danger greater than any the leopard could imagine up for himself. The femme, far from a damsel, had the mind of any dragon, but the sugar in her voice, the simple fact she was a female could fool one so simple, so simply the fool, as Kitambi.
"Lions? Cheetahs? Do either breathe smoke? Or fire?" Poor Kitambi, so eager was his mind, so deliciously dense.

"No, no smoke, no fire, however they do bring with them waste. They hunt and leave our jungle littered with their rotting spoils. Hardly worth our time to scavenge, yet it ruins our land none the less. Stinks up an area with the stench of death, to the point where our own preybeasts stay away. They don't respect the land, or those of us who's true home this is, flouncing around day by day, claiming that they, and they alone are the owners of the jungle." Laying her ears flat, her body-language emphasized her disgust for the situation at hand.

These words were allowed to wash around the leopard's meagre brain, each nuance taking a few moments to take root, before at last the conclusion he had a vague idea she was hinting at burst upon him.
"Should we do something, damsel?" He grinned idly upon the femme, his own puppet-strings invisible. "Should I prove myself a knight if I do something to reclaim the place?"

His reply caught her slightly offguard, she had to think for a moment on how to answer. Considering her options and possible responses carefully, the night colored leopardess continued on softly.
"For now, I think we watch and we wait. The cheetahs will fall prey to the lay of the land soon enough, being that their speed cannot be used within the jungle, when there are so many trees and vines and such to be had here. They cannot climb as well as us, if at all, and therefore cannot use the treetops to their advantage."
Pausing for a moment to quirk an ear forward again, then slowly bring the other around to match, Tamani let her words sink in before speaking again.
"The lions may be a little harder to lure away. If we drive the preybeasts away from where they reside, they'll come deeper into our homelands, which isn't what we want at all. Nay, strategy is the key here. We need cunning and knowledge to shove them out, rather than brute strength and impetuosity, like most of the oversized village cats use."
"We'll think on that soon enough. For now, we need to watch and study what we're up against." Her honeyed tone ebbed and flowed in vehemence, sure that they would have no problem, at some point, getting rid of their adversaries. With such a gullible soul at her side, she could do anything. She could tell him to charge headlong into a tree, and she doubted highly that he'd question her in the slightest.
Turning her jade eyes upon him once more, Tamani ran her tail along his lean flank. "You, my handsome friend, are a knight indeed." And I, your damsel in need, Knight, we'll soon find out just how much use to me you truly are... Her lingering thoughts remained unvoiced.

Cunning and knowledge? These traits were not the greater share of Kitambi's makeup, but mindlessly he grinned, nodding away to her every word. He had found a damsel willing to give him heroics, he would not question her copious... words.
Her last words, spoke in such an intoxicating tone, left the poor fool almost floating with pride. Yes, this damsel would treat him to knightly, nay, princely ways! Allowing thoughts of gleaming armour and dragons slain to occupy his thoughts, the words; "Whatever you say, damsel," slipped forth from his lips before the thought had passed.
It would seem the shallow end of the paddling pool had just dived into the deep end.
