Vigo was in the most amazing of slumps. First to be accused of fathering cubs the morning after, then chased halfway across the roguelands by a furious father and his warband, hiding in smelly (if accomodating) dens by day, then to find a lovely she-lion who was a complete waterbaby... his luck just wasn't going well at all! Not that he so much minded the orange beauty that had simply not been interested and thus eluded him. Unto itself that never bothered him much. It merely was the last in a string of misfortunes.
In the midst of dwelling upon his foul luck, he come across a wide patch of clean, cream sand. The granules were neither too large nor too small, and it did not seem to have suffered the fate of other such patches. Perhaps it was too far from a pride's borders to be used regularly to control offal, but to Vigo, in his current state of mind, it was a gift from the gods. The heat of the afternoon sun had soaked deep into the sand, radiating it back towards the sky. Swimming... not at all his thing. Sunbathing and sandbathing? Oh yes, much more to his liking!
The stretch of sand was so large, four or five males could have sprawled in it without coming close to touching. He set one paw onto the heated surface and gave a deep sigh of appreciation. Ah yes, now this was more like it! He waded out into the middle of the disc, noting with interest that it was very close to being a perfect circle. Such a detail was inconsequential, however. He first knelt down into the sand, basking in the delicious warmth drifting up against his belly and face. Without glancing around beforehand, he then threw himself lengthwise into the soft sand and began to roll back and forth, working his spine to form a groove into the sun-drenched material. After a few rolls, he remained on his back, srpawled out with his dark belly exposed to the affections of the sun, his eyes closed in bliss.

Talayeh was walking slowly, her golden eyes glancing around her. She was on the hunt, but so far nothing seemed quite good enough. She sighed, wondering if it would be easier if she lowered her standards...but no. It wouldn't be as much fun if she had. The illusion that draped her was simple enough. No wings, no jewelry, no long trail of mane. Just a little extra fluff on her back, and a look if interest for some fun.
Her ears twitched as she heard a rustling from not too far off. Mmm, a hare? A foolish meal waiting? She wasn't hungry, but catching some food was a nice bribery if one was required.
Instead, she saw a sunbathing lion. Nothing strange there, though he almost looked like a blissful cub, ignoring his surroundings. She cocked her head to the side curiously, approaching him slowly, as not to startle him. He caught her interest. She just wondered if he could keep it, with a sly grin to herself.

Perhaps it was a soft, subtle sound, or a waft of scent carried on an errant breeze. Mayhap it was his senses were tuned for feminine presence, but something made Vigo open his eyes and roll to his belly, the sand scattering smoothly from his sleek fur. It was the lovely sort of sand that rarely clung uncomfortably to one's more sensitive spots, for which he was grateful when he looked up to meet the appealing yellow eyes of a pale lioness. His own orange eyes widened in pleasant surprise. His luck was definitely improving.
"Well hello there," he rumbled with a slow smile. "Come to bask in the sun as well?" He let his eyes wander over her slender form, shining perfectly clean white save for the brilliant sunset-colored markings on her paws. Perfection, to his mind. There was beauty, and then there was true beauty. Some to be admired, and others to be gazed at in awe. He shifted to the side slightly, and patted the sand beside him with one outstretched paw. "I'd be honored if you'd join me, my lady." He never took it for granted that she'd take up his offer, but it never (or at leas usually didn't) hurt to extend such an invitation. Generally the worst that would happen was that he was snubbed, no worse off than before. As always, though, he very much hoped she'd join him. Such lovely company was all he could desire.

She smiled at him as she gained his attention. Perfect. She let her owns eyes wander, and he seemed well enough. She would enjoy it more once she found out his personality, the thing that would seal the deal. Brash lions were not her thing.
"I wasn't planning on it," she opened, "but it sounds like a lovely treat, now that I think about it." She let herself approach him, keeping a comfortable distance, as they were strangers after all. For the moment. She let her right paw brush against the warm sand, feeling it beckon her to enjoy its warmth. Soon. First she was a little curious, and would ask a couple questions.
"How did you find such a place in such perfection?" It was obviously rarely, if ever used. She set herself down comfortably, unable to resist the sand's urge to enjoy the heat.

His smile widened as she chose to enjoy the sands with him. She kept a demure distance, but clearly enjoyed what the heated earth had to offer. "I consider it a gift of the gods," he replied, relaxing into a more comfortable reclining position, which may or may not have been to intentionally angle the sun's rays so that they shone on his golden markings. He'd learned that many admired them, even fellow males found them handsome. He considered them one of his best features, and was known to occasionally manipulate things to show them off.
"I stumbled across it only a short time before you appeared," he continued, nodding his head her direction. He gazed deeply into her eyes and said quietly, "Who would not accept such a gift with joy and appreciation? Nor soak in such good fortune?" His expression suggested he spoke of more than just the sandpit, but he made no other indication or movement to alarm her. His last encounter had fled, though not due to his own over-eagerness (perhaps even due to his reluctance, though not concerning her beauty), so he was attempting to delicately balance a slow and steady approach with sending clear and undemanding signals. It was an intricate dance, a hunt with more finesse than any other prey required.
"Were you equally lucky, my lady, or am I intruding upon your private retreat?" He tipped his head inquisitively, the thought flitting across his mind that perhaps he had done just that. Still, he'd noticed no markers, scented no repeat visitors to this sanctuary. The implication of her own luck hung betwen them, however, inviting speculation on what kind of luck it was she considered this.

Her tail twitched, a little bemused. He was tricky. And a little forward. She would play with it a little more, and see what might happen. No use in disappearing (quite literally) yet. She smiled, and chuckled a bit. "Oh? You believe in the gods, then." She had met many that didn't believe in them at all. Surely even if she stood in front of them in her true form, they might try to justify what they were seeing, anything other than a god. Mortals were quirky.
"I was merely passing through. I would have walked on, but I heard you enjoying the sand, so I figured I would investigate." She offered him a sweet smile, reclining a bit more in the sand as she relaxed. She liked a little bit of conversation. "So no, I didn't know of this place. Perhaps it was...well, fate?" She never really believed in it herself, but mortals liked to toy with the idea of fate. Being with it or against it. She shifted onto her side a bit, curling one paw under her chest as she drew her tail to rest against her side. The warmth was very relaxing.

He paused at her statement, thoughts of dalliances momentarily set aside. Did he then believe in the gods? He had never really considered his own stance on whether they existed or not. He'd used the term flippantly, as he usually did when referencing gods. "I'm not entirely sure if I'd say that," he said carefully, eyes defocused as he dwelt on the idea. "I would say I am neither believer nor disbeliever." Safe enough, and quite honestly true. "There being gods would certainly explain some things," he continued slowly, "but I myself have never seen fit to choose one to worship, much less devote myself to."
Privately he admitted to himself that it would take a god of lust or some such for him to bother worshipping one. That wasn't the sort of thing you admitted to a lady, however. He opted instead to switch it around, since she herself hadn't stated any such belief or disbelief. "And you? Do you worship any god or goddess?" Always best to turn the questions around to learn more about beautiful females, and to let them know you were listening!
He had the grace to flush a little at her mention of his enjoying the sand. She'd caught him unguarded in a moment of feline ecstasy. But his embarassment was minimal, for what cat could resist a wallow in such tempting conditions? He did, however, self-conciously reach a paw to dust at his mane atop his head, just in case some residue of his rolling lingered there where he couldn't detect it. Her mention of fate made him arch a brow and cast her another speculative look. "Fate may lead us, but only we can make good or ill of it," he spouted. It was something some clever wild dog had said to him once that did indeed seem to have some wisdom to it. "I suppose that applies as much to the gods as to fate, though," he added in mild rumination. Were the gods only what you made of them? He wasn't entirely sure he was in the mood for such deep considerations.

Talayeh laughed slightly. It was always a habit of...well, anyone to turn questions onto the questionee. She didn't mind though, especially since she was concealing the most important part of herself from him! She would preen herself at the moment if she was a bird. For some reason she was just feel very confident, happy, and for once, content.
"I'll only believe in them if they're right in front of me," she answered. "If they're out of sight, then why keep them in mind?" She smiled and curled her tail around her body, intrigued with the turn of conversation, but guessing that he wasn't as enthralled in it as she was. No matter. She was content to see that he had a brain attached to that body of his, and not a stupid hunk of a lion.
She paused again, watching him with a touch of amusement as he seemed to settle himself more for presentation than relaxation. She didn't blame him. She knew she was pretty, even when lacking her godly elements. Confidence showed more than anything else, and he was doing a great job in keeping her interested.
"I believe we should make good of our fate," she smirked.

He frowned slightly at her response, flexing his toes in the sand and staring at them thoughtfully. Something seemed off about her philosophy, though he couldn't exactly pinpoint what bothered him about it. Perhaps it was that such perspective was easily shifted onto other subjects than just the gods, and while many things were left in the past, certain things should not be. He raised his pensive gaze to her and caught her last comment and smirk, and all deep, philisophical thoughts left his mind.
She was so lovely, and that fetching little grin... why, could she be talking about them, right this very moment? "Our fate, hmm?" he inquired mildly, eyes brightening. He inhaled her scent from where she was, so near yet not near enough to touch... yet. "Making good of our fate sounds like an excellent idea to me," he agreed, trailing off into a low, vibrating purr of appreciation and sitting up a bit more. "And how would you suggest we go about doing so?" he inquired archly, his tailtip beginning to flip back and forth animatedly, very nearly like a cub stalking something it wants desperately to pounce.

Perfect! She couldn't have directed him more smoothly. Really, he was much more pleasant than some other males she had been with in the past. Were mortals just getting better? Perhaps. She purred to herself just thinking about it. It kept things interesting and exciting, not dull.
"Perhaps we go some where a touch more private?" Sure, this place seemed very untouched, but she still preferred a touch of privacy. Her tail bounced as she stood up, sad to leave the warmth of the sand. Returning to it afterwards was a possibility, mattering on how she felt. And thinking about that subject again...she peered over her shoulder, smiling, and beckoned him to follow. "Over here looks good. Let's get to know each other a little better..." And without names. That always made parting easier, in the end.
