The golden lioness moved slowly through the rogue lands. It hadn't been long since she'd left her home and everything she'd known in the Kusini'mwezi, but already she was enjoying the freedom of her new adventure. Sure, there was the occasional pang of sadness, but that was to be expected. Most of the time she was simply happy, wandering wherever she wanted to go and admiring whatever she came across. Her bright teal eyes scanned the latest piece of rogue land she was exploring, hoping to find something interesting. And they did! Just up ahead Mwujuzi could make out the clear blue of a waterhole, shaded by some Acacia trees. It wasn't very far, and she was thirsty. So, she turned and headed towards her newest destination.

Vigo was sprawled comfortably beside the water, shaded by one of the smaller trees, however fitfully. The wind was naught but a sprightly breeze, tossing the branches about and making dancing patterns of light and shadow on the ground and on him. He was quite contented just then, having had a deliciously big meal not long ago and having slated his thirst fully as well. It was comfortably cool near the water, and the afternoon sun was lulling him into a doze. Perhaps his luck was finally changing, and life could proceed at a smooth, unhindered rate, without all the chasing and angry fathers. Yes, at this moment, life was good. However, movement in the distance, which he lazily tracked with only his eyes, proved that life was about to get significantly better.

Mwujuzi was completely oblivious to the fact that there was another at the water hole. Perhaps it was the fact he was dark and was lying in the shade, or perhaps it was due to the fact that she had only recently left her pride, and so was unawares the practices of rogues. Despite not knowing there was a lion quite close to her, Mwujuzi let out a child like squeal when she'd reached the waters edge. "Oh!" She said to herself, "how I've missed the cool water." A smile grew on her face as she remembered back to the times of her childhood which were often spent splashing around in the rivers that ran through her old pride's territory. Then, without hesitation, she jumped straight into the clear liquid, sending waves and ripples across it's calm surface. Once submerged, she bobbed back up only to float on the surface of the water, just as she had done in her past.

He stayed laying where he was, watching her with appreciative speculation. Her squeak nearly startled a bark of laughter out of him, but he remained silent and let her enjoy the splash and paddle. The day certainly warranted such enjoyment, and he rather liked seeing her having such a good time. "Looks like fun," he finally spoke, rising to his paws. "Mind if I come join you, beautiful?" It might have been a bit cheesy if he hadn't meant it, but for Vigo, it was all about the ladies. Granted, he had seen a few ugly ones in his days of roaming, but most were as lovely as this creature. With a charming and sincere smile, he stepped to the edge of the water.

Mwujuzi nearly jumped clear out of the water when he spoke, for she was completely unawares of his location. She flailed momentarily before regaining her composure. Silly Mwujuzi, she thought, of course there would be another around the water hole on a day such as today. She smiled at her thought before looking to the male. His colors reminded her of some of her relatives, though she could tell he wasn't from the Kusini. There was something about his build that told her so. She smiled when he first spoke. "Oh it is! I haven't swam like this since I left my home." As she spoke she splashed about in the water, obviously content. On his second words she stopped what she was doing. Never had she heard a lion be so forward, and certainly not to her. Lack of experience caused her response to be reserved and wary. "Umm... sure, I guess, feel free." She indicated to the water, there was plenty of space for the two of them, and she inched every so slightly away from the stranger. Just to be safe.

Her charming youthfulness was as refreshing as the water, after the last week or two. He was no ravishing rogue to press on a girl who was nervous, however. Sensitive to the nuances of feminine mood, he merely smiled and bobbed his head. "Why thank you kindly!" He actually generally didn't like to get wet, but this time it was worth it. He stepped into the water's edge, letting the water lap over his toes, but immediately had second thoughts. Perhaps this wasn't entirely worth getting completely and thoroughly wet. His tail twitched anxiously, betraying his uncertainty. He shifted his weight and took another step or two deeper, letting the water reach nearly to his elbows and hocks, and stopped again, eyes wide. A glance at the female was an attempt to remind himself why he was doing this, but it wasn't quite enough to entice him deeper. With an attempt at nonchalance, he bent his head to drink, as if that was as far as he'd intended to go in the first place. A pox on water in all its wetness! It was keeping him from this enchanting beauty!

Mwujuzi couldn't help but laugh as he made his way into the water. How silly! She mused, I guess some just don't grow up around the water. She flicked a paw through the water to splash him. He didn't seem too bad, he may have been a bit forward in his introduction, but perhaps that was just who he was. She resumed her floating position, belly up towards the sun, her bright teal eyes gazing at the shapes the clouds made in the sky, all the while not sinking. "You should get all the way in. It's getting in that's the worst, but once you're covered, you'll e fine." She teased at the male.

He couldn't help it. When her flicked drops struck his dry fur, most especially his face, he shuddered his hide violently and took three steps back, retreating to water that was just barely covering his paws. Standing there, with that fitful breeze striking his dripping legs, he gave a shiver that traveled from his toes all the way up to his ears. This was simply NOT natural! He wasn't meant to be a water cat, as she clearly WAS. He gave a great sigh then, realizing how little they had in common, and how unlikely that made any possible later familiarities. Suppressing a look of distaste, he stepped from the water entirely and back onto the safe, dry ground. "No, that's okay, you can enjoy it enough for the both of us," he replied lightly, keeping his exasperation with himself out of his voice. Instead, he stretched out in a smooth, sunny grass patch where he could easily see her. Look but not touch this time, Vigo old pal, he told himself ruefully.

Mwujuzi laughed louder now. She'd never known another lion to be so, well, uncomfortable with being wet! "Suit yourself then!" She cried. Sure at first many of the cubs were tentative when they were first being taught to swim, but once they were in they enjoyed it immensely. She sighed. It seemed that lions of the rogue lands were more different than she'd expected. She paddled about for a few more moments, letting the water refresh her tired muscles and bones before deciding that it was time for her to move on, after all, there was too much to see and do to waste time swimming in a pool of water. She waded to the edge of the water hole and hauled herself out. Mwujuzi then proceeded to shake herself in a vigorous manner to rid herself of any water. "I think," she started. "I'm going to be off. Oh," she paused, "We never introduced ourselves. Funny we're doing the introductions as I'm about to leave." She smiled before offering her name. "I'm Mwujuzi."

He paused in his careful grooming. He'd swiftly managed to lick dry his forelegs and was working on a hind paw when she emerged. He swiftly put the foot back down, feeling rather foolish to be in such a position when speaking face to face with a pretty lioness. He cleared his throat, embarassed both about that and his inability to have actually shared the water with her properly. He gave her a sheepish smile at her introduction. "Yes, rather strange, a bit backwards." He rose to his feet and gave her a gallant bow. "Vigo'tamort, my lady," he spoke grandly, a slight self-mocking tone. "It was a pleasure to meet you," even if the water was no pleasure at all, "and I wish you safety and speed on your journey." Ah well, not every girl he met was for him, as he well knew. Still, she had definitely been interesting company! "May you swim as often as you please, and twice as much for me!" He cracked a grin then, easily making fun of his own aversion to being wet. She loved it, more power to her!

She laughed as he spoke. He was certainly charming. "Nice to meet you Vigo'tamort! Hopefully one day you'll get in the water." And with that, she turned and walked off towards her next encounter.
