 Ion dug herself out of the sand. She found that by putting up sand all around her and then having a light layer over top of her she could hide from the hot sun if her hole was deep enough. She moved in the cool of the evening since it was so nicer. The light of the moon made the desert look like a mystical waste that could have an oasis pop up at any moment or a cave of treasure. She had come out here to find Akori. She knew he lived in Kemet land and was in training to become a shaman. It was time to find out if he had found out anything about Narbles. OK that was part of the reason. The other part was because she just liked talking to Akori. He was interesting. Shaking some sand out of one of her coat sleeves she took off in a trot in a random direction. She was lost.. very very lost.. but an adventure was being lost with a purpose wasn’t it?

 Akori looked around and sighed. He had been sent out by Horus to gather all these herbs for the upcoming sand storm the deities had warned about and he wanted to help so badly. Foxes he had known his brief entire life had just up and left the tribe and Persephone and Horus where just so depressed but Horus was getting better. He had left the temple and the pyramid and had come down and started talking with foxes again. Which was good in the sense that Kemet was hopefully pulling its self out of the depression that had fallen over it just in time for everyone to get sick. Kaname had gotten it worst of all. So Horus had gone utter elder mode and assigned everyone different tasks. He was sent out to go find different herbs and such things.

Ion saw some plants in the distance. Plants meant water. That thought made Ion’s mouth go dry. She could use a drink. So she picked up the pace to the plants. There was a small spring of water and plants growing right up the edge of the water thirsty for life. Ion dug next to the water’s edge and then poked a hole in the wall nearest the water so she could control what ended up next to her muzzle as she drank. She learned to do this one night after nearly swallowing a little oasis frog. A cloud pasted overhead blotting out the moon’s light. She looked up into the dark void.
Suddenly the wind blew and the cloud moved aside almost blinding Ion with its sudden brightness. She closed her eyes and caught a scent on the wind. She smiled and started hunting. Akori was nearby.

Oh there was a plant but it was right next to the Nile and had narbles. River narbles only really meant one thing and that was crocodiles. Everyone in kemet knew crocodiles where most active at night so he would have to wait for in the morning and steal it then. ugh but it was such a long way until morning that Akori was very disheartened.
Suddenly the wind started blowing and Akori's heart dropped a bit. lots of wind meant sand storm would come. however suddenly he caught something else. A smell on the wind and his tail started wagging back in forth in excitement. Ah it was Ion. Wait but what would Ion be doing way out here in the desert. He had said he lived in kemet and she should come visit but... maybe it was a mirage. Then again mirages didnt really involve smells.

It was a hop and a skip to head from the spring to the river. Ion followed the river trying to find Akori. There was a ripple out in the river. Ion stopped and looked at it for a moment. Was that Akori in the river taking a bath? Ion crouched down and looked at the rippling water. She was in a perfect pouncing position. Her tail brushed sand behind her as her butt did a small waggle as she shifted her weight so she could launch herself with maximum momentum into the water. The rippling slowly stopped. The top of the water was still. Her hears flicked forward while her body stayed in its prone positioning.
There were some plants near the water’s edge that wavered in the wind. A minute passed. “Akori?” Ion’s voice sounded worried and confused. That was Akori down there wasn’t it? His scent was so strong nearby that it had to be him.

Akori looked up when his name was called and spotted the Ion to go with the mirage he was smelling. Of course thats also when he saw the faint presence of ripples and a whole bunch of narbles. Nope wasnt a mirage. They tended to not give you such heart attacks like getting eaten by crocodiles. Definitely real.
It was then a few things ran through Akori's mind. Why was Ion in Kemet. Why was she walking around at night when it was the most dangerous and why was she so close to the river bed. Oh he needed to get down there. He needed to pull her away before the crocodile decided that she was going to be dinner. Glad the portion of sand was a dune he slid down the mini dune going towards her. "WATCH OUT MISS ION! Get away from the river!"

Ion jumped straight up and whipped her head around when she heard what sounded like Akori. It had scared her. He sounded upset. She heard him yelling about the river. She turned her head back to the river and backpedaled quickly. It was the only thing that saved her as she found herself face to face with the smile of a crocodile.
Her eyes became saucer plates as she continued to back up now very afraid. “AeiII!” Ion seized up after managing to back quite some distance. Her butt landed with a soft thump on some sand. “uh.. ah.. big lizard.” The crocodile made a growling hissing sound but didn’t leave the water. Its scaly skin glistened in the moonlight. Slowly it slid back into the water and seemed to prepare for its next assault. Or so Ion thought. She tried to back up farther but her shaking limbs wouldn’t cooperate.

Akori let out a choked strangled sigh of relief as she missed the crocodile. Oh thank godness Ion was okay. What if he hadnt spotted her and she had staid there. What if he hadnt warned her in time or she hadnt . He had seen a crocodile take down an antelope when he had gone out hunting with Aunt hollow. It was a horrible sight and he definitely didnt want to see it happen to his dear friend Ion. Oh AKori was going to be sick it was the more manly thing to do. There was a shrine to Osiris just up the river. He should take Ion there and go looking for Herbs in the morning. Besides he trusted Fyra and Rynn to make up for his needing to take a night off. "miss Ion dont you know the nile is dangerous? Are you okay?"

“.. I know the river is dangerous now.” Ion couldn’t stop shaking. “I think I’m ok. T-that was really close wasn’t it?” Ion looked up at Akori and tried to smile. She managed a weak one but couldn’t do more than that. She looked back at the water and tried to budge back further. She ended up in a sitting position because her rump didn’t move even though her front legs wobbled back.
She tried to stand up and only ended up on her butt once again. Her tail thumped weakly on the ground. “I’m glad to see you Akori. T-thanks for saving me.” I don't think ending up a croc's dinner would be very fun.

"Kemet is very dangerous at night not just the river. There are all sorts of predators looming about. Akori stated but nodded his head towards the close call statement. "ripples in the water are always a bad thing especially when you dont know what caused them. However he could tell she was still shaking from the encounter. he wasnt as calm as he seemed either but he always tended to feel better if there was a calm fox there. "We should move towards the temple. It will be safer for the night" Akori pointed out

Ion looked at Akori and then out at the land around them. Perdators were never a good thing. Especially if they could take out a fox. “Sorry I thought.. I thought that it was you swimming.. I caught your scent and came to find you. ” Ion felt horrible for making Akori have to come out and save her; still his presence made her feel better. “Yes the temple sounds like a better spot to spend the night. I’m sorry Akori. I came out here to talk to you not cause you trouble.” Ion finally started t calm down enough that she could finally stand up.

"Its okay and a bit understandable. The Nile is a curse at times because it holds such danger but it also keeps us alive and as such a blessing. Most of the time we dont really get bothered by the crocodiles around the main tribe area but thats because Amun is a river modeity. In other places the river is probably a lot less dangerous." Akori explained happy that Ion had come out to find him even though. "Its okay its not really much trouble. Just a small heart attack but i get those daily" he smiled.

Ion laughed. “I doubt that you end up with heart attacks on a daily basis. It would be tough to live like that especially on a birthday with a surprise party.” Ion made a face and stuck out her tongue. Ion trudged behind Akori toward the shrine. Her tail started a slow wag behind her. Despite her near death experience Akori made her feel better and well happy. “So um.. Akori have you learned anything else about Narbles yet? That was one of the reasons I came. You told me before that they look like dust particles and where would there be more dust than a desert. I would make sense that before a big event there would be a lot right?”

"well My father and my aunt are sort of at each others throats so that causes a heart attack occasionally. Then we deal with snakes and crocodiles when they get too fiesty but because of that we are really good with dealing with them. Lately everyone has been sick. I've been one of the lucky ones that seemed to have escaped. Oh but enough about tribe life. We where on a narble quest. Um well I figured out Bad narbles have a bit of a red glow to them. They show up even when I havent seen the fox... like tonight they showed up around the crocodile in the river." he tried to explain.

“ah I see. So it I see a lot of red dust that could be bad. I’ll be sure and remember” Ion lowered he head as she followed Akori. “I know you’re family fights but at least they care enough to speak to one another. I don’t have a family so even an arguing family sounds like a good one to me. I’m sure it’s just because they both care a lot about things. I’ve noticed that passionate foxes fight a lot. It can be good at times and bad at others.” She raised her head again a bit worried. “The tribe being sick is really bad. Can I help out at all?” She blushed. I know I’m not a tribe member or even good with herbs but I can help pick plants if you show me what to get.””
