I hope this is an okay topic to post here x.x
I was just wondering to those here who have had auctions, how?
I've had a few auctions when I've closed my shops before [now my shop will be closed for quite a while] but I never seem to have any luck :/
The bid I have now is pretty good, way better than my last auction, but it's the only bid I've gotten D:
I've used fancy layouts, better titles, I've exchanged tons of banners, bump and chat as often as I can, but I don't even get votes on the poll or anything. No one seems interested.
I know there's lots of competition, but I've seen pencil sketches at about my drawing level sell for 20 mil! Am I not doing enough to promote or is my art just not what people are looking for?
And I'm sure I'm not the only one who has had this problem so hopefully it will help others as well.
the poll here would also help too I suppose, then I can get a feel for how many people here actually even look through them X3

** I might not be the perfect person in order to advice you at an auction, haven`t had one "solo" in like never, but still.
"I don't have time for many commissions these days so in my shop I am only offering RL commissions. This auction gives people a chance to still get my art with items/gold" - blahblahblah!
saying that- don`t want to sound mean but >_>
is kinda "and....?", I can really care less about your background story// I WANT SAMPLES" ok you might have a shop or not, so when you go for an auction JUST SELL that idea.
THIS IS SPARTA!!! AN AUCTION - leave it or TAKE IT. that is the though.
but is you are a very WELLKNOW artist, an awesome one, and ppl just DIE for your art // well for you.
Actually the bidding ones like OMG! that is a lot of gold are from artists that are famous here. I`m not one of them but still.... my art or samples will talk for me.-maybe-
The letters . the colors aren`t "calling" // appealing
I mean, is pale so is kinda hard to read.
Your avatar is read, play with those colors as well.
You should have a SAMPLE big one at the fist part or just a piece or part of the drawing placed at one side.
*the scale of bidding - you can post it on another post.
RULES? well, guess is common sense the rules at the auction thread, but besides "bid what you have " I kinda fell that typing more rules are kinda unecessary.

can be writen or separarated with a "//", you are taking so much place of a post.

and details and mostly the "will" of the bidder to click on them,.
just use some samples
I see that you have a nice coloring but >_>
notorious mistakes at the face construction. /specailly the fact that the mouth comes forward so dramatically- not very appealing if you are going for semirealism or realsim.
pardon me but I`m a freak when it comes to proportions and natomy//even if I`m still learning.
just use 4 samples and that is all, some of them have >_>
like anaotmy oddness so maybe - makes ppl unconciously be like "Umm! my eyes fell something"

and the whole mouth thing just killed my motivation to work on anything at all lol it's so sad that I can't get something so simple right after all these years :/

Okay, thats enough of that attitude. No one in this guild gets to put themselves down, especially not when they have obvious talent. Art is subjective. An you are off to a good start. Realism, especially CG realism is HARD to achieve, and I commend you for making an effort and attempting to market yourself on a website where realism isn't the norm. That being said Your art style isn't what people in auctions are expecting to see. Gaia was founded as an anime/roleplaying community so there is already a strong bias toward the style. But there is still a demographic that will be very excited to see realism or semi-realism. I'm not going to sugar coat it. It will be a little more difficult for you. But I don't mwant to see you giving up just because you aren't where you want to be yet. Join the discussion in this thread, and post there for awhile. We artists are damned resourceful but we can't do everything on our own. Let us help you. One more thing. ******** mouths. they are NOT simple. Next to the eyes they are probably the most complicated, and versitile feature of the face. Check out dare, post some stuff, do the drawing exercise. And no more of the negitive attitude toward yourself and your art. Not only is it detrimental to your self-esteem, but it could very well be the reason you don't carry out many conversations. And don't you dare start thinking your at fault somehow with this post. I may be blunt, but rest assured the only thing I think you're doing wrong is doubting your own abilities.

Nuna-- thank you lol I was in a crappy mood yesterday so that's prolly why I was so bummed, but I'm gonna practice them a bit today before I work on the art I have to do
and aside from an auction now and then, I'm taking time off commissions to actually work on stuff :3
Thank you though and I will definately have to use that thread more

I never get luck on my auctions either and I've seen people at my skill get 5mil+ for bust ups or more >.<

legs EVERYTHING is so difficult ;^;
but practice = mastering them O3O

naa! realism and semirealism are in the battle with chibis and animu, up to some point.
and some awesome styles form artists *w*
