  • Bribes are no longer accepted.
    Don’t even ask.

  • Read the rules in the individual colorist journals.
Sometimes they open slots for just unedited couples, sometimes for cosplays, so it's always a good idea to read and know what each colorist will be willing to do.

  • Cubs from a breeding may be kept or given away, but not sold!
A raffle, or some sort of free contest can be done to give away any remaining cubs.

  • Adults are the only ones allowed to breed.
The only exception to this are the rare times a perma-teen is allowed breeding rights.

  • A lioness cannot breed again until her current litter is of teenage lines.
There is no limit as to how many times your lion can breed, but breeding to hoard is not allowed!

  • You may only keep one offspring per breeding of said lion.
So that hoarding, can be stopped, as well as promote expanding families, and sharing among the thread.

  • Offspring from a breeding must be an adult for 2 months before they can be bred.
This allows for them to develop relationships and also works to prevent hoarding.

  • Custom lions need to wait 1 (one) month before they can be bred.
Just like previously bred lions, this time allows for them to develop relationships and also works to prevent hoarding.

  • Homosexual breeding is allowed.
Each colorist may have their own way of doing this so be sure to read up on the rules.

  • Do not harass colorists about a pending breeding, or to open more slots.
We have real life obligations that must come first, and has a tendency to take us away from the shop. Slots will open when the colorist has time, and not before. As for pending breedings, PM the colorist politely first after a sufficient time has passed (usually about a month), but not repeatedly. If no reply, then please contact Mira with your concern, and she will see what she can do, but please do try to be patient as school and college are killers to the staff. >.<

  • Unless stated otherwise by the individual colorist, all slots are first come, first serve.
Sometimes we miss out, but there will be other slots later!

  • Trade must be started before a breeding can be begun/completed.
Unless worked out otherwise with the colorist, we prefer knowing we’re not getting the run-around, and it’s just a good business practice anyways. Remember this is a contractual agreement between parties, and must be treated as such.

  • Listen to what the colorist has to say.
It may be a question or concern that's needed to be heard to save both the colorist's time and yours.

  • Breedings are not customs!
This means that you cannot request a cub to look a certain way - unless stated otherwise by the colorist. The colorists did their best and you should respect their imagination/creativity, even if the finished pet is not what you had imagined it should look like in the end.

  • Asking for an extra cub is no longer acceptable due to the new bribe rule.
Fertility fruits will be available in the fruit shop that can be bought that can increase the fertility of the pets involved in a breeding, adding anywhere from one to two additional cubs to a breeding depending on dice rolls.

  • A colorist has the right to refuse any breeding that she/he feels they cannot do.
Everyone has strengths and limitations, so please respect a colorists decision to turn you down for this reason. We want to do the best we possibly can, and not give you second rate cubs! We're not exactly in this just for the gold, after all!

  • A colorist also has the right to refuse a breeding if you never stop by the main thread.
Hey, we want to see your pretty face and to know your pets are being loved! If we never see you, you chance your pet's children growing at a MUCH slower rate in addition. We are trying to discourage hoarding as much as possible.

Have a question about something to do with breedings? No worries, the FAQ's listed below should answer most of them for you. If not, however, you are more than welcome to PM your questions to Mira, or the colorist whom you've chosen to do your breeding, and we will try to get back to you as quickly as possible!

  • Is there a limit as to how many breedings I can get per month?
You may only breed three times a month with lions (see information thread for details on rares) and two times a month with cheetahs and hyenas.

  • How long does it take for a colorist to finish a breeding?
Depending on they time they have on the computer, some breedings will be done within hours while other might take days. If you feel that's it has been way too long since you claimed your slot, ask them about it in their journal or PM a manager.

  • Are there refunds?
    • No, you will not be refunded unless the colorist isn't able to finish your breeding.

  • What the hell? Since when does Pride Lands have role play required breeding?
Since people started abusing OOC breedings? But don't get too upset, not all of the slots are role play required.

  • What does that mean?
A colorists can choose whether or not to open up role play required slots and non-role play required slots, and just how many. So that means that one month, they might open up three RPR slots and one NRPR slot and so fourth.

  • What's the different between the two types of slots?
Role play required slots will always result in three cubs, with a slight chance of getting a fourth, while non-role play required slots will always result in two cubs, with a very rare chance of a third.

  • What do I have to do in order to get a role play required slot?
A minimum of three role plays are needed. At least one of them should explain the connection between the two lions, while the others can be anything.

  • What happens if I have the necessary amount of RP for an RPR breeding, but can only get a NRPR breeding? Can I get the three cubs instead of two?
Unfortunately, no. If we bend the rules for one person, we'll have to bend them for everyone else and it just won't be fair. If you want more cubs, wait until a colorist opens RPR slots.

  • Wouldn't NRPR slots only be for OOC breedings?
Of course not! A role playing couple can get either slot, but OOC couples can only get the NRPR slots!

  • This isn't fair! Role playing is supposed to be fun, not something required!
If role playing really turns into a bother for you, why would you want to breed them without it being sheer cub interest?

  • Why are you making it sound like my couple is OOC? They aren't, we just don't have the time to role play!
No one is saying your couple is an OOC couple, but you still fall into the NRPR slot when getting a slot for breeding. No RP, less cubs.

  • Does Pride Lands require life-time mates?
No, we believe that just like with humans, tragedy can strike even the most inseparable lions. So for the sake of role-playing, mates can most certainly split up.

  • I understand that non-role play required slots only result in two cubs, but what if I co-own my breeding lion? Can I can another cub?
For circumstances such as this, yes, an additional cub will be added to the litter. However, you must run it by the colorist, who has a right to turn the breeding down. Also, this cannot and will not be taken advantage of. If the staff finds you constantly breeding your co-owned lion to get an additional cub, breeding rights will be taken away.

  • So I decided to breed my water lioness with a normal male, but the litter resulted in all males. Because water lionesses are strictly female, does this mean I won't get any rares?
Good question! To make paying for a rare breeding fair, we've decided that if a water lioness has a litter of males, at least one will be a fire. This works in the case of a fire lion having all girls as well - at least one will be water.

  • My cub just grew, but looks nothing like he/she when they were born!! What the hell?!
Well, a colorist has every right to add things to your cubs as they grow, however, if it's a drastic change such as loss of mane, different clothing, etc, then I suggest you confront the colorist about it politely. This does NOT mean you can ask a colorist about your cubs every time, that would a serious offense.
