Physical Description: Matthias has a muscular build without being overly buff. He has short black hair that he combs to the right, letting only his bangs hang free. His deep brown eyes and soft features give his face a pretty boy look, without losing that touch of seriousness. Having great pride in serving as a Shinigami, Matthias is always wearing his uniform. The only exception is that he wears steel toed leather boots instead of sandals, as well as square frame-less glasses.

Personality: Matthias is generally a happy-go-lucky kind of guy. He loves trying new things, and meeting new people. He is very active physically, and enjoys encouraging other to join him. Always up for a good time, Matthias is the kind of person who is willing to anything once, especially if it something that requires moving at dangerously high speeds. The key trait that makes Matthias a great guy is that he never discriminates against anyone, and will always defend the rights of others, even his enemies.

Zanpakutou Spirit: A large red demon with white hair and eyes. He holds to large hammers which he uses to beat drums, creating thunder.

(Not obtained yet) Shikai Name/Release Phrase: Strike, Raijin!
Shikai Description: Upon its release Raijin liquefies, and transforms into a pair of fingerless metal gloves on Matthias’ hands. These gloves are made of woven metal fibres, so that they look like they are made out of a metal cloth, which in fact they are. This allows Matthias to use his hands freely during combat. The downside of these gloves is that they are quite heavy, weighing in at 20lbs each.

Shikai Powers/Attacks: Raijin gives Matthias the ability to manipulate an object’s kinetic energy, as well as the ability to turn its potential energy into kinetic energy and vice versa. He can only use this power on objects he is touching, and he is unable to use his power on any biological object. He is also unable to use this power on another zanpakuto.
This power can be used in the following ways;
Matthias can create shockwaves by turning and objects potential energy into kinetic energy and releasing it. If the object is large enough, he can control what part of the object the shockwave is released from. E.g. – He could release a shockwave from the tip of a sword. The power of the shockwave is dependent on how much potential energy an object contains, which is determined by its mass.
If an object is in motion, Matthias can accelerate its kinetic energy, thus causing it to move much faster. How fast he can make it move is also dependent on the objects potential energy. He can also slow an object down by converting its kinetic energy back into potential energy.
The speed at which he can convert energy is dependent of the mass of the object, and Matthias can only handle the energy of an object that is less than 1 tonne. (2000lbs)

Bankai Description: In a large burst of red energy, Raijin transforms from mere gloves, into a suit of plated armour. While seemingly heavy, this armour is actually light weight, and easy to move around in.

Bankai Powers/Attacks: Raijins power grows in Bankai, surpassing many of the limitations it had in Shikai.
The main differences in the power are as follows;
When Matthias touches an object he can 'mark' it with a bit of reiatsu. This allows him to continue to manipulate the objects energy from a distance.
Matthias can cause an object to move by converting its potential energy into kinetic energy. He can only cause an object to move in one direction at a time. This means that he must stop the object before he can change its direction of motion. He can also cause an object that is in motion to stop moving by converting its kinetic energy into potential energy. He can do this well enough to suspend an object in midair.
The speed at which he can convert energy is also much faster than in Shikai. With the exception of exceedingly large objects the energy will be converted almost instantly. Matthais’ size limit is also increased to 10 tonnes. (20,000lbs)
Special Accessories:Matthias wears a silver pentacle with a pair of dragons on either side of it. It was a gift from his parents in life, and due to his emotional connection to it, it remained with him even in death. Although he no longer knows where it came from, he has worn it ever since he woke up in Rukongai.
Skills:A basic knowledge of physics and engineering that Matthias was able to obtain while in the Shinigami academy. He spent a lot of time in the school library, but sadly there was only a limited selection of science texts available.

Biography/History: From an early age, Matthias was interested in how things moved. When he got into high school, he took as many physics courses as he could. Noticing his top grades, his parents decided to move to Japan, where Matthias was able to get into a much more prestigious high school, taking courses in physics, computer programming, engineering, and martial arts. While he was still in high school, Matthias developed a computer program that could accurately predict the flight of a paper airplane based on its design, and a given set of weather conditions. It was a simple program, but it gained the recognition of some of the best universities in Japan. Once he finished university, Matthias designed a similar program to help athletes to improve their skills. This gained him both fame and fortune in the sports world. Matthias had planned to improve his program to aid in the medical industry, but while he was walking home, he was hit by a semi truck and crushed to death.
Waking up in the Rukongai, Matthias of course had no memory of his life other than his name. He was surprised to find a pentacle around his neck when he woke up, but he felt like it was important, so he decided to keep it with him. After wandering around for a day he found his way to a small town where he was taken in by a family of souls. They told him he was dead, and helped him adjust to the afterlife.
The town they lived in was poor and impoverished, this disappointed Matthias, and so he decided to help out the people by building things that would help them. With the help of the townspeople he built a waterwheel mill on the river that ran alongside the town. This made the production of flour much easier, increased the speed at which they could make bread. He also helped design an irrigation system so that they could grow crops faster, and healthier. He built many other things that made the peoples live better, and they all loved him for it. He had no idea where he got the inspiration to build these things, but he seemed to just know how to make things more efficient. Eventually the town’s prosperity was noticed by the Sereitei, and a member of the research division was sent to find out who was responsible. When the man found out it was Matthias who had built these devices, he was asked to become a Shinigami. After a small amount of consideration, Matthias accepted. While in the academy, Matthias buried his nose in any book he could find regarding physics. Sadly there wasn’t very many available to students, so he set his sights on the 12th squad, the one place where he could satisfy his curiosity about physics and engineering.
