Dio was sitting on a log not too far from the university. He was looking over the book he had gotten of music and how to play. He wasn't a dancer like his mother, he liked music so far even though he was still young he was learning.
The casino was bothersome to stay in, and to be honest Nemesis contemplated leaving once he was more adjusted to the outside world – this meaning everything beyond the Facility which . . . was everything anyway. Having been an hour away from the noises and lights, he had calmed down some and was mellowly wandering when his ears caught a strange noise. Although it wasn’t /quite/ noise, since . . . it had a point to it.
Weird. He frowned in curiosity and drew closer to the music that often echoed about the University grounds.
Dio settled on a song to practice. It was slow and probably seemed ad to someone who would hear it but he liked it, it calmed hte normally rather hyper male down. He had already played it several times and it was his favorite, he was pretty good with it at this point. He wasn't as good on the violin as he was on the piano but he was getting better. He closed his eyes as he played not caring if others were nearby.
Nemesis walked for a while before he pinpointed the new source of sound, a loud . . . What could he call it? It wasn’t grating, but it wasn’t completely fluid either. The kitten eventually saw a lone figure with something wooden in hand that was producing the noise, so he approached a few more feet before stopping, sitting down, and listening to the rest of whatever it was coming out. It sounded terribly sad . . . He could actually feel his mellow mood being pulled into a somber, contemplative state.
More tricks, he thought suspiciously, though for the moment he was a silent listener.
Dio smiled as he played the end of the song and his ears twitched. He slowly opend his orange eyes and looked over the male watching him. "Did you like it?" he asked softly as the 11 year old put the violin aside in the case next to him. He smiled as he tilted his head. "I hope you did i've been trying to get that one perfect for a while." he said with a smile.
“Hmph.” He slowly opened his eyes upon the finishing of this “song” thing, surprised to find that he was a little drowsy in waking up; spells indeed. “I /guess/ I liked it,” he responded, making sure to emphasize his neutrality. “But what /was/ it? And what is that thing?” he added, pointing to the wooden instrument.
Dio smiled at the male and crossed his arms. "You guess? you seemed rather entranced by it. IT was a song i play alot from my book of music. and That THING is called a Violin. It is made of wood and strings and i make music on it." he said. "Do you know what music is?" he asked. He looked over the plastic collar on the males neck, he had heard about those things from several of the cats in the university.
Pffft, “entranced”. He scoffed at what he thought was smugness coming from the other tom. What a stupid combination: strings on wood making whatever this “music” was! Preposterous. “’Course I do,” Nemesis lied with a roll of his eyes. “I don’t have to know what makes it to know /that/.” Right? He certainly hoped so, because Nem absolutely hated getting bluffs called out. “I was just coming over to say you were playing it too loud.”
He noticed that the other boy’s eyes darted to his collar, but he paid no mind this time. Maybe if he ignored it, nothing would be brought up.
Dio watched him and smirked. "Did you really not like it? I love my violin, though i'd never let my brothers know how much i love my violin." he said with a smile as looked over him. "too loud? Everyone here plays too loud. You should be glad i wasn't playing guitar like the other members in my class. You got a problem with me playing? I have to get practice n somehow." he said as he looked over him some more. "What do you want me to do? I'll get in trouble if i not practie." he said with a smirk.
“Practice somewhere else,” he suggested flatly, “where nobody’ll be put under that stupid spell.” That’s what it had to be: noise that sounded pleasant only to lure cats like him in for something sinister, or bad, or just annoying – in this case the third. Did he like the sounds earlier? Yes. Obviously that was the point for a lure. Worse was knowing this whole area was full of cats like him! Nemesis’s ears flattened at the notion and backed away a step at the kid’s smirk, eyes narrowing. This was a den of snakes in cat’s fur, that’s what this was! “You won’t control me with this ‘music’ of yours!”
Dio frowned. Was this male crazy? He seemed to think that there was something wrong going on here. He raised a brow. "Spell? I wasn't trying to do any kind of spell with anything. I din't think there was magic in my music, i'm not that good yet." he said as he watched the male who seemed to be getting upset about something. "Control you with my music? How am i doing that?" he asked with a smile as he leaned forward to hear the answer. "You are rather funny you know that. I am not controling anyone. No one here is. Well but my mother who makes me come here and practice but what ever. I do secretly like it."
Nemesis backed away another step when the male leaned forward in earnest, disliking all the lies that were obviously spilling forth from his mouth. How could he /not/ know the effect his music-thing was causing? Liar. This guy was creepy as far as he was concerned, and it was only his pride keeping him there at this point – noise wouldn’t put him down! “Nobody’s being funny here,” he growled. “Juat . . . Stop playing that.” It was a simple request, wasn’t it? Forget practice or whatever, it was clearly enough to dull his senses.
Dio smiled at him and picked up his violin again. "Stop huh? But i was only just warming up." he said as he plucked a few strings. "I think you'll like my new song." he said with a smile as he started playing a happier song. He smiled at him. "why get upset with my music. Its beautiful is it not?" he said as he played his poppy up beat song.
Nemesis bristled as he brought the bow to the string again, but there was no need: this time he was not entranced, but rather bored by the repetition of the rising notes. “Pff. Is this supposed to be ‘music’ still?” he said when he was tired of the cyclical melody, giving the other tom a look. “My mistake, guess you /do/ need practice.” Was music like magic, were certain types did certain things? Maybe he was immune to this one’s effects . . . Probably something in the serum they injected in him. “Unless your violin broke.”
Dio smiled. It had been his sad song he had played that had done the 'spell' to hm then he was sure. He closed his eyes and changed playing something sad and slow again. He knew he could get the male once more he was sure of it. He wanted to know why this male thought he could do magic. The idea was a nice one, to be able to sway someone like this was interesting.
Not again . . .! He flattened his ears in hopes that would stop the unwanted invasion, but it was of no use; blunted or not, the sad sounds bounced about his skull until he couldn’t take it anymore. “Stop it!” he hissed loudly, stepping forwards this time to intimidate him. “I don’t know what this whole music thing is, but if you don’t stop playing right /now/, I’ll claw your arm off!” Nemesis was tired of being this guy’s music guinea pig, and to mean business he unsheathed his claws so that they were in sight. An overreaction to be sure, btu that was Nem for you.
Dio cut off the last note with a snap and made it ring. He smiled as he watched the male and stepped into his intimidatingness. "Ohhh the quite one had claws huh? Don't like the sad music? Don't like to be calmed?" He said as he looked over the males claws. "Mmm why does it bother you? Its just music. I'm not doing anything special? Take a deep breath and calm down and i'm sure you'll like how it makes you feel. Theres nothing wrong with some calming music." he said with a smile as he looked over the male with a smile. He didn't care if he was threatening him or not he just wanted to know why this was bothering him.
Nem wasn’t going to bother explaining himself to the other guy, because why would he want to do that? This guy pissed him off, and that was reason enough. It was the smiling that finally made his temper snap: all that damn /smiling/. What was there to smile about? One of his songs sucked, and he was begin threatened! Clearly this was the crazy cat, and said crazy cat needed to be taught a lesson that if someone like Nemesis told him to shut up, he’d best do so. With a yowl the kitten launched himself at the young musician, claws outstretched.
Dio watched him and laughed as the male seemed to get matter and madder. He was able to set the violin back in the case at the moment that the male attacked him, but not the bow. He raised his arm to catch the male as he attacked. "What the heck is your problem!" he asked with a growl as he tried to fling the male off of him.
Nemesis hung on for a couple of shakes before he was flung off, ears flattened and tail bristling as he managed to land on his feet and turn back towards the nuisance. He hoped he managed to score him a few times on that arm to prove his point. /Laughing/! That idiot had /laughed/ at him!
For the first time, Nemesis decided it was better to just leave. This guy wasn’t even putting up a fight. Not bothering to answer the young tom’s question, he turned on his heel with a lick of his tongue, then scampered off and away from this charmer’s lair of hell. Along the way he would have to squish out the melody of the last song from his mind, which had already begun to loop itself.
Dio set the bow down in the case and ran after the male. He had a few bleeding scratches on his arm but his dad put him through alot more when they sparred. "Stop you idiot! Why are you running away from me! I don't want to fight you just talk to me!" he called out as he cut the male off and stopped him. "Why did you need to attack me?" he asked with a raised eyebrow at the male.
Apparently the one time he tried the diplomatic route and leave, fate decided it wasn’t tired of watching him struggle. Being in no mood to talk, Nemesis gave Dio a piercing glare, bunched his muscles, and leapt . . . between the boy’s legs and beneath the important parts; though Nem knew enough to know that if he had wanted, he could have tried to cripple the kid with a claw there. The collared cat was making a mad dash away from this musical hell hole as fast as possible, and if the other guy decided to follow then Nem would lose him in the afternoon traffic – he had no problem with running amok in between cars if it meant separating himself from this weirdo.
Dio growled at him as he ran away and he turned and watched him. He was mad at the male but he couldn't keep leaving. He was too far from the school as it was or he would follow him. Why was he not talking? why was he being like this? something was wrong and he felt bad. He would have to try and figure it out if he ever saw the male again. He sighed and walked back over to his violin and packed it all up so he could go to his mother and have her fix his arm.
