Well that hadn't gone so well. How was he supposed to know that the pretty little female was the daughter of the king of a nearby pride?! She'd told him nothing of the kind, or he'd have been more cautious. But there it was, the deed was done and the hunt had begun. The little minx had even tried to blame her pregnancy on him, even though if he had been their father, there was no way she could have known she was pregnant the very night afterwards! But her father was not a reasonable lion, not at all. Talking was not what he was looking to do. No, he'd brought his entire warband after Vigo!

That was two days ago. You'd think they would have given up, but after hiding in the den of an accomodating maned wolf, he'd spotted those same lions charging about the roguelands not too far away. Thus it was that he'd given up traveling by day and had taken to bounding north, following the stars by night. However, dawn was approaching, and a prickling along his spine made him think that those warriors weren't as far away as he'd like. He needed to find another good hiding place for the day, and dawn was drawing close. He slowed his lope to a trot, eyes scanning for anything or anyone that might be of help.

User ImageHumming in a soft tone Tribalwind took the time to relax, it had been semi-busy today. Scouting the area of Peke'Na for possible places to live or avoid. Once scouting had been done, Tribalwind decided it was time to venture out in to the roguelands to see if anything had changed but she had spent a lot longer then she intended too. The night had been cool, but looking up into the night sky, she took in mothernatures wonder. The moon was out in full tonight and the stars shone like the little pebbles at the bottom of the pond Tribalwind had found long ago.

Unable to control her sudden urge, she gave into her feelings and let out a long as well as loud howl to mother moon. Once finished she waited for a response, ears perked in alert to see any other wild dog was out. Receiving no answer back, Tribalwind decided it was time to rest for the night. After a while, she finally settled down and slept. Awaking the next morning to the sound of birds.

As the birds began to twitter and chirp, as the light grew in the east, he became desperate. If they caught him in the open, he was done for, that much was certain! He was sure he'd heard a howl in the night, so he'd been trying to aim for the sound ever since. It was sheer chance that he was looking the right direction as two pointy dog ears appeared above a jutting group of earth's stony bones. He had enough sense to slow down this time and make sure that the wild dog was alone, but surely if he was pleasant and nice, this canine would help him?

"Good morning!" he called... but not too loud. A nervous glance over his shoulder only somewhat reassured him that there was no warband within hearing. "Hello!" he called with a little more confidence. "Lovely morning, isn't it?" He approached carefully, but in a direct line. He had little time for indirectness, and his instincts were telling him that one more day aground should do the trick to lose that pridal king for good. It was terribly important that he convince this individual that he was friendly swiftly.

Giving herself a fullbody shake, Tribalwind stretched and moaning as her body adjust to waking up. She yawned and then licking her lips to wet her mouth, there was nothing worse then dry mouth. The semi-quiet was interrupted by a rumbling sound. Bending her head to she looked in the area of her stomach. " I guess that's my que to find some food." Smiling to herself, she made her way out of her current borrowed home and walked the stonepath. Humming, she loved to sing, she almost missed the sound a quiet male voice.

Alert, she took in the male lion. She felt her furr bristle a little bit, not certain what the other's attentions were. Bristle receeded once she realized the agitated and distracted vibe the lion was giving off. "Hello." her huskey voice replied as she raised an eyebrow. " Are you alright?" She took in the others appearance, he was actually quite handsome for a feline. The pattern on his fur was lovely, the golden swirls blending with the brown gave off a warm feel.

An astute little thing, this wild dog. He reminded himself that truthfulness was the best policy, even when presenting one's self. Often even the most innocent of ruses, like trying to appear calm and collected when one wasn't, could backfire. So in response to her question, he gave her an apologetic look. "I am not in dire need exactly, but I do require some help." He glanced back the way he'd come, the growing light highlighting one side of his face. "I'm being chased wrongfully, and have been travelling for two nights now. I fear they are still close on my trail, and truly, I could use some direction."

He looked back at her hopefully. For all he knew, she could just be a passing rogue like he was, and have no more knowledge of the area than he did. But it didn't hurt to ask. Earnestly he appealed to her, "Do you know of a place I could hide during the daylight hours?" Really he needed to hunt too, but that could wait until evening when he rose to leave. "I don't mean to inconvenience anyone, I just need somewhere sheltered from sight." And with nearby water, he mentally amended, but that also could wait, if necessary. Already he was asking much of the smaller canine.

Tribalwind watched the other male with a calculating look, her gut was telling her that he was telling the truth. She was not one to ignore this in need. " I'm sorry, I am not really familiar with this land much anymore. I live in the Peke'Na area." She took in his panic and rushed to re-assure him. " But! I have been staying in his hidden cave for a bit. Would that help? You can stay there for now and I can clean away your trail so they can't follow you."

She turned away to lead the other to her borrowed home. " Follow me, I will lead you too a safe place. I am called Tribalwind by the way and you are?" She picked up speed once she saw the male keeping up with her.

"That... actually sounds just right, thank you," he said with a weary smile. Anywhere out of sight at this point was a blessing. "Are you sure I'm not ousting you from your own place?" He worried that she was leaving on his behalf, thus inconveniencing her. Though he could be terribly gruff sometimes, when it came to females especially, but friendly folk in general, he tended to have a much more polite and genteel demeanor.

"The clearing of my tracks might be helpful," he mused as he moved to follow her. "I don't know how closely they are following my trail, or if they are simply lucky." He hadn't dared veer too much, for zig-zagging could possibly result in the war party catching up to him more swiftly. "Ah, a pleasure to meet you, Tribalwind! I am Vigo'tamort." He kept his steps slow and measured, so as not to pass or outdistance the smaller creature. "It is very kind of you to look after me this way." He gave her another tired smile, his charm shining through his exhaustion.

" No worries, I was planning on leaving back to Peke'Na soon anyways. I just had to stay there over night as I traveled a bit too far out when I was roaming around." She waggled her tail in a friendly gesture to show she was happy. She liked helping those in need and wasn't afraid to stand up to fight if need be. "Yes, I often have to clear my tracks when I scout the land as I sometimes run into a situation that could affect the pack. Nice to meet you Vigota-" She tried saying his name multiple times before just settling on 'Vigo'.

" Alright, follow me. We have to hurry if I have to clear your tracks." She happened to look up at the lion in time to see a charming smile which caused her to blush. She cleared her throat, a nervous gesture, and turned her head back to the front. " Y-yes well it's no trouble at all." She shook off the feelings of embarassment, he was a feline after all and she a canine it would never work. " We are here." She used her paw to point to the den, that was big enough to fit Vigo. "My scent is still in there, so it should linger a while longer to throw off the lions hunting you."

He followed her faithfully, taking care not to crowd her or get ahead of her. He was deeply thankful to have found such an accomodating creature to help him in this need. He would have never thought to have his tracks obscured, much less ask someone else to do it for him. "Are you sure I can't help somehow?" he asked dubiously, feeling that this walked the line of taking advantage of the good nature of the wild dog.

When they arrived, he bobbed his head in mut gratefulness and dove in. It was a tight fit, actually, but comfortable enough if he could find the right position. He stuck his head back out immediately and smiled one last time at her. "Truly, kind Tribalwind, I thank you for your help." He purred at her as a token of his sentiment, then ducked back into the small dog den. It did indeed smell of canine occupants, both old and new. It seemed it was a favorite spot, being just outside a pack's lands as it was. For a moment he imagined travelling dogs stopping here for the last time as a rogue before entering the pack. Despite his weariness, it made him smile. This was a good place to be.

Curling in a furry ball, with his back to the entrance, he tucked his nose inbetween his paws, flicked his tailtip over his face, and very swiftly was asleep.

She turned her head towards the Vigo and spoke, " No its quite alright, I got your back." She winked cutely before she gestured for him to crawl inside. She waited until he poked back out incase he didn't fit and when he did she blushed at his words of gratitude. " You are very welcome, goodluck." She raced back out to where she scented him most and started to dig as well as rub her scent around to banish the lion smell.

It took some time but finally she was done. She nodded in satisfication and turned once more in the direction of the male lion. ' Goodbye, may mother earth watch over you.' She thought before turning away and dashing towards the boarders of Peke'Na.

END.
