Kimi roared in anger. "Get out of my way!" She had had enough of fleeing, ever since she was defeated by Maion and his pathetic Miakoda herd she had been licking her wounds, but no longer. Still, things had not gone as easily as she had hoped, instead of getting her horns and teeth into a Angeni mare she found herself standing before a warrioress. The sword glistening on her rump with menace and intent.
But Kimi didn't need some pathetic man made weapon... no, all she needed was her teeth, her claws, her horns... and if all else failed she was simply shift to her animal form and be done with them. Her animal side was vicious, unwielding, and sought only blood..... she almost, almost, pitied those who found themselves in her path.
"You are not my target, but I can change my mind." She hissed it, spitting and fuming, her anger growing with each passing moment. Soon she wouldn't care who she attacked, but the need for blood and death was growing.
Kaida stood her ground and rolled her eyes at the beast, "You are a coward, attacking a mare who can not defend herself." She was disgusted at the beast, it dripped off her like an angry second coat. Kaida didn't like those who need protecting being punished for that weakness, for it wasn't truely weakness. Kaida knew that everyone had a place in a herd, and maternal mothers -which is what she suspected this mare would be- were just as important as the warriors. Not all mares had Kaida's drive to be a warrior, nor would she expect them to. She thought hard for her place and would continue to do so.
"Leave now and I will not follow" She all but growled back.
Annabell was cowering, her eyes wide and her heart racing, she had NEVER been so afraid. If this blue mare with feathered wings had not stepped in she would be dead, she knew it will all her heart and soul, knew it was true, could feel it.... yet she wasn't dead. She had been foolish to attempt to find the mate the stars had given her, her herd believed that Annabell had a great purpose, that she was destined to bring about a joining of herds, light and darkness and restore balance. She had been fed up of waiting, deciding that taking destiny into her own hooves was the only way to go.
Yet now, as she stood shivering and cowering from a skinwalker she suddenly felt like a child again... she should not have come here, should have brought a guard or two.... she was a princess afterall, of the Moon and the Stars, of the Earth and the Sky. Her very name meant in the 'grace and beauty of God', yet she felt like such a failure in that moment, when it really mattered she was..... worthless.
Shame filled her and her cheeks burnt with her tears.
Orion had been wandering, enjoying the peace of the forest and the quiet away from mocking faces. His wings were folded on themselves, flat against his light weight body.
But something ahead of him caught his attention.... noise, commotion. He hesitated, he rarely went towards noise but something was pulling him. Perhaps his mother shouldn't have worried, it seemed there was a part of him that could almost pretend to be a knight after all. He grunted at the thought, it was not him....but he couldn't simply leave if he could help.

Kimi was pissed.... her hissing increased, she spat and cursed under breath as her red eyes bore into the blue mare before her. "Many may say that being a skinwalker is a curse.... but I will show you my strength." With that she roared forward, claws ready to strike, to dig deep into the flesh, to tear and shed, to teach the pathetic creature that she had something to fear in this world... and it was her! A skinwalker. She growled.
Kaida was about to move, but something black caught her attention. She turned her head automatically, worried that the skinwalker had backup.... it was unusual her kind didn't hunt in groups but she had heard whispers, rumours that some had started to. She had been distracted, too lost in thought to see the skinwalker attack. Claws dug into her rump, flesh tore and blood dripped down her leg.
She growled turning in an effort to get the beast off her. A scream of agony trembled from her lips as the claws shredded more flesh on their way out. She turned, her sword clanking hard on her leg. The newcomer forgotten Kaida leapt forward, her hooved feet ready to strike hard, aiming for the join of the beast wing. It was a vunderable part on a bird so she hoped the same would be the case here.
Annabell turned her head towards the noise that had distracted her saviour. She stammered back a step or two until her rump hit a tree. She paniced, then as the figure was revealed she found herself realeasing a breath she hadn't know she was holding.
Not another skinwalker.... but a flutter? Or at least that was what the stallion appeared to be to her, though larger than a normal flutter so perhaps he was mixed blood.
Curious, and too soft she walked towards him, avoiding the deadly mash of hooves and claws and reached for the only 'safe' thing she could see. "Help me." She burst into tears.
Orion was oblivious to what was happening at first but then found himself frozen. A skinwalker and a warrior. Both mares.... both attacking with a force he would not have expected from such a gentle sex..... it just showed that one could not judge a book by its beautiful cover alone. And yes, even Orion believed the blue mare was stunning.
Still, his attention was drawn to a third entity, one that was no too close for comfort, he was about to step back until.... she asked him for help.
Mouth dropped open he stared at her. "Me?" No one had ever asked him for help before. But what did she want? Him to fight the skinwalker? No. Him to take her away? Perhaps. Him to save himself? Yes. He didn't know what to do.
"I...... what is happening here?" He asked instead, turning his gaze away from her vunderable eyes. Away from her tears.

Annabell shook her head softly, particially out of disbelief, no one had every ignored her, or not done exactly what she wanted.... she was a princess after all, use to having her own way. With a pout she lowered her head and nodded, trying to still the tears.
As his second question left his lips she found herself turning back once more to the horrible scene, of blood, teeth, claws, swords, hooves........ she winced and turned away. "The blue flutter saved me from the skinwalker. She wanted to each me." A shiver ran down Annabell's spine, she didn'rt feel comfortable, her skin was suddenly too tight, so much that she felt like she would do anything to escape it.
"The skinwalker attacked you?" Orion asked in disbelief, allowing himself to look at the delicate mare for a moment. It was a mistake, she looked so fragile, more so than him. He could feel her vunderability and he didn't like it.
"It seems the flutter has things handled here." He said, hoping his words were true, that he could escape. But instead the brown mare moved to stand behind him, he was now a shielf. Shocked her turned to look at her, the tears had stopped now but her eyes were swollen from her earlier tears.... in that moment he knew, he wasn't going anywhere.
Kimi hissed in pain with each hit she recieved but didn't turn away, never stopped trying to get the advantage again. She saw an opportunity, leaping forward she grabbed the creatures sword in her mouth and pulled, the straps tightening around her body and a sadistic smile started to cover her lips as she pulled and pulled, the claws digging into the dirt to give her extra grip.
Kaida yelped and found herself suddenly breathless, all the air in her lungs being forced out. "Release me..." She said, panic lacing her voice as she tried to kick and slash at the creature. Only one solution came to mind.... she had to lose the sword. Turning her head, something she didn't like doing since she was no facing away from her attacker, and she nosed the buckle for the wraps that held the sword in place. Attempt after attempt she missed until finally it came free, it zoomed off her flesh, burning and leaving a trail of pain in its wake.
She screamed again, appaulled at how she was acting but unable to stop. A tear formed in her eyes and she looked down at the sword. It was a symbol of her palce in the herd, that she was a warrior..... but right now she felt very much like a defensless mare.
