Opening A quiet wind blew trough a deserted forest. No sounds what so ever except for the usual wind blowing trough the leafs and a few birds singing like everyday. But then soft footsteps appeared, quietly but without any bit of doubt. They kept going and going, walking to a certain destination. Then, when the sound of leaves under the figure's feet had stopped and the sound was replaced by the sounds of stones crunching under the weight of heavy power armour. The figure kept walking deeper into the ruins that belonged to a beautiful building which was here a long time ago, followed by the soft hisses of his ventilation. At the centre of the ruins he stopped and looked around a bit, searching for something. He walked to a wall where something seemed to be missing and wiped the dust away from the ground, revealing a portable screen with a few buttons on the side. As soon as it was picked up, it starts to boot itself and in a matter of seconds the figure was able to select options. Most were offline, but when he pushed 'Records', the screen changes and it automatically starts to play the first available record.
"23 May 2168: The population has kept growing non stop. At this point, 14 billion people populate the planet we call earth. There isn't enough room left. People even started living in the Sahara desert. Drinkable water is running out, oil is running out. Power plants can't produce enough powers as blackouts are getting more and more frequent. As last hope, the remaining powers on earth have decided to poor all their money into one last hope. The world is at the brink of a world war, because if this research doesn't save us, then people will start killing to survive."
A machine voice speaks instead of the previous voice.
"End of record... Malfunction. Could not locate record. Fast forward to next working record."
"9 June 2168: Amazingly enough, it works. Professor Robertson has finally been able to produce infinite energy. How the infinite source works, is kept secret, but the black outs disappear as peace starts to return all over the world. Life got better again." A soft sigh was heard. A sigh of relief. "A lot of other people say the energy source will bring us a lot of problems. Nothing is infinite they say. But I don't see why it could be bad. It's better then the black outs and the fight we get during those black out. But our food supplies are running out and so is our water. I hope that professor finds a solution to the population problem too."
The machine voice come up again.
"End of record... Malfunction. Could not locate record. Fast forward to next working record."
"15 August 2168: I never suspected it... He did find a way to solve all our problems. This time they did release how they did it. It seems they were able to make some kind of device that could multiply everything they put in it. Fascinating. It seems when time is running out, mankind preforms the best. We are nearly saved, nearly able to go back to our previous lives. We are still running out of place to live, but rumours have been going round that they have also been working on a way to solve that. But that has been kept strictly secret. I look forward to another great invention. This guy has written history twice, and now he will do it again."
Again, the strangely metallic voice comes up as soon as the record was finished.
"End of record. Malfunction. Could not locate record. Fast forward to next working record."
The hard drive has been severely damaged as only small parts were available.
"13 November 2168: It has been announced. The solution will be released in a few hours. I can't wait. I'm watching the solution to our last major problem on television. Strange... They are quite small... Oh, it's time. I wonder what they are going to do." On the background, the announcement from the television is heard. "It seems to be releasing something. Some kind of gas... That was it before the television was cut. Strange... Maybe something went wrong with the electronics. Oh well. Knowing the professor, it is probably going smoothly and soon the population problem will be solved."
The metallic voice came again, in the same monotonous voice.
"End of record. Last available record player. Going into standby."

The history of it all The third invention did work. It worked perfectly actually... It released a gas that people would fall asleep with as soon as it made contact with the skin of the humans. A long sleep... An infinite sleep.
Animal lived on without problem as they were unaffected by the gas. They fed on the corpses of the human who were sleeping. A small number compared to the total human population took shelter in bunker. Geniuses, artists and people with a lot of money were safely put into hibernation chambers for 200 years together with a small army for protection.
But professor Robertson had a secret, fourth invention. One no one of the army, nor anyone else but himself knew about. It was supposed to be a portal into an alternative dimension of the planet Earth. It was supposed to be the real invention to save us from ourselves. But the first people who went trough, died instantly. So did the others, all because of a strange gas that hung there.
That dimension was populated by what we humans call mythological creatures and beings. The dimension was full of Elves, Goblins, Dragons, Trolls, ... Anything that ever made it into the fantasy books.
Professor Robertson didn't go into the hibernation chambers. No, instead he used an air tight laboratory to continue all his research. The military force him to used the gas to eradicate Earth from almost all it's humans.
Now, he was trying to find a solution. A way to make the gas go away and wake the humans up. He used the original gas from the portal to produce a kind of filter. To test it, he himself walked into the vault with the portal and put the filter on.
It worked. The gas turned into normal oxygen again. In his haste, he started to work on a big filter and used it on the outside world. He wouldn't be able to save all the humans though, but at least the planet would be habitable again. It would still take around 190 years for all the oxygen to come back, and thus Robertson went into a personal hibernation chamber in his lab, in his haste, forgetting to close the portal from the other world.
But professor Robertson made a mistake in his calculations about the gas. It didn't put everyone to sleep.round ten humans on the billions of humans who were supposed to fall asleep, didn't.
Instead, they adjusted to the gas.
They changed, grew stronger, faster and developed something else.
A power, activated by the gas. They were able to connect to four elements, able to do as they wish with them. And so, the world got split up into two parts.
One half had water and air users living on them, as the other part had fire and earth on them. They tried to survive the best they could, and ended up being the sole survivors of human race. Or so they thought. Instead, they came into contact with the beings from the portal.
They were seen as monsters first, but after noticing what they themselves were at this point, they decided they weren't really humans any more, and made peace with the beings. Mythological and altered humans learned to live in peace together.
But, the hibernation chambers placed in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean which were built in all secrecy, were remained untouched for 200 years until its inhabitants woke up.
Unchanged.
Together with the army that was also stored with them, they were with a total of 500.000 humans. They soon came into contact with the other beings on this planet. The first thing they did was a simple 'Fire at will.'
Of course, the beings weren't so put up with that since they were seen as the traitors who slaughtered all those humans 200 years ago. And thus, war broke out between those two. A war that is still happening. A war that will never end.

You can't be on more then one sides at the same time. You either chose technology, the element users or a mythical being-
PM your profiles to me. I'll read them and accept them. Don't just go posting them.
Any questions or to plan ahead can be talked about here-
That's about it. Even though the rules are subjected to change at any given time.

Character sheet Explanation Name: You seriously need help with his? Gender: Come on. You don't need this. Race: You can chose between Humans which have been in the hibernation chambers and have technology on their side, Elementals or Mythical. Type: Quite simply... Humans have to decide if they are like soldiers, pilots, inventors, politics, ... Elementals have to put their element (only 1 allowed) and Mythicals have to put what mythical being they are. Age: Humans need to add the 200 years to their original age and can't go higher then normal humans. Elementals can only take normal human lives and Mythicals will depend on the type. Looks: Just post a picture and specify if you want to specify. Face needs to be visible. (So no helmets) And that's it. I'll just put what you need underneath this. [b]Name:[/b]
