Amrita had never been to the Demon dorms before. Not for Livius, not for Lizzy...but, apparently, she would go for Riley. Not entirely for Riley, but for their project. Still, it was Riley who contacted her and it was Riley who would be waiting for her...so technically it was Riley she was going for. The mild mind flutter was probably due to nerves because, well, she was a low class Zombie in appearance, and this was the Demon dorms.
She wasn't told to bring anything so she hadn't, instead fidgeting the entire way with her hair using both hands, clawing through a handful of hair over her shoulder. Soon enough her unsteady feet brought her at least in sight of the dorms, and from there she slowed right down. Demons weren't the greatest at being hospitable (or so she heard; the two Demons she actually befriended were quite nice!), and she didn't want to go too close without actually seeing Riley there.

It was only when a distant bellowed chime signaled the stroke of seven, that the doorknob of the intricately carved wooden Demon dormitory doors was turned, and the doors themselves opened. Riley took a step outside, and surveyed the grounds. She found it distinctly lacking in one Amrita, but felt confident that would remedy soon enough. The door closed behind her, and she stood quietly in the crisp dusk air, waiting for her guest to arrive.
She caught sight of movement not too far away, and her head shifted sharply in the direction of Amrita. Though it was dark, she could see the ghoul as clear as day, and she lifted her hand slightly to wave her over.

Riley was taking so long to get to the door.
Why was Riley taking so long to get to the door?!
Amrita's walk turned into a nail crawl, practically putting one foot very awkwardly in front of the other, toe to heel, toe to heel; she stumbled once and even backed up to make up for the advancing she made with the stumble. All to buy Riley time to get to the door.
From where she was she could see the door open, and from there it was easy to spot the purple skin...but it wasn't until the hand wave did she truly believe it was Riley; she didn't know how many purple Demons in the Demon Dorm went out at seven, after all! Brightening (but still incredibly nervous), the Vetala hobbled over, shuffling a little faster than normal.
"I...uhh, I mean, H-hi, Riley." She stammered out once she was close enough, still fidgeting with her hair.

Simply by her manner of greeting, Riley knew this was going to be an uphill battle. She nodded at Amrita, and waited for her to fully reach the doorway, before reaching out and sliding her long fingers underneath Amrita's chin.
Head up, darling. She commanded, tilting Amrita's head to look her in the eye. You should always look someone in the eye when you speak to them. She brushed the ghoul's hair back behind her ears, and straightened slightly for comparison. You know, you are a very special ghoul, Amrita. Anyone who has the chance to get to know you, and speak with you, is a lucky person. She knew Amrita would disagree with her, but by the time Riley was done, she could only hope that perhaps that would change.
She held out her hand, palm facing upward. Thank you for coming to meet me. I hope my accommodations are to your satisfaction. She pulled the door open with her other hand, and held it open for her.

She'd never get used to the voice in her head, she was pretty sure.
Biting the inside of her cheek, she did lift her head and at least glance up at the Demoness; while her chin was up, she wasn't really talking to Riley at the time and thought nothing of turning her gaze to the side. Hey, her head was still up! For all her compliments, Riley only received a ridiculous stare; the Vetala was positive that the poor ghoul had taken one to many shots to the head.
"How? Why?" She challenged; she knew she was forgetful, absent-minded, scatter brained, slow. She knew all these things weren't entirely her fault in this particular body, but it had been long enough for her to forget what traits were hers, and which were forced upon hers.
Her head dropped again, shortly after taking Riley's hand. It wasn't only because of her general dislike of looking people in the eyes (when she was aware she was doing it, anyway), but also because this was new ground, and if she tripped on something there was very little to stop her from face planting.
"I'm...sure it's great." She did assure Riley; despite quite liking the cold basement room with tree roots growing through the stone walls, she could also admire a nicely put together room.

Riley had been hit on her head rather sharply recently. That had nothing to do with her compliments, however. How? Riley echoed incredulously as she led the ghoul down the hall of the first floor. You are a Vetala. The word was said with a vicious curl of triumph. Have you met any other student here who could boast of such a thing? You had the courage and strength to possess a body that was not your own. Might you have any idea how envious some of the less put-together students would be of this ability?
She stopped at her door, which she had left unlocked since she knew she would be immediately returning. She opened it, and led Amrita into a dark, candlelit living room.
Please excuse the light. She gestured to the candelabra off to a far corner, which wavered playfully. On the other side of the room was a doorway, whose curtain was pulled back in preparation for the guest. The room beyond it was bright and well lit.
Follow me to the study.

She shuffled by Riley's side, pondering over the answer she was given. While she couldn't dispute all of it, she could dispute something that was pretty important. Which, coincidentally, was why she was here in the first place.
"It's not courage it's necessity, all of us do it if we want to look different from each other...and I'm not strong." She didn't really feel the need to expand on that, as Riley no doubt understood why she would say such a thing. She wandered into the room as she was guided and shifted very slightly closer towards Riley. Fire fire fire, but at the same time it was just a little candle; she just...didn't expect it was all.
"Okay." She nodded, heading into the study after Riley.

Once they had entered the study, Riley held a chair out for Amrita to sit in, and slid into one herself. They were both swivel chairs, and Riley turned hers to face the ghoul while leaning back against it.
Now then, we are here because you wish to reacquire the ability to exit your body, and enter a new one. I am here to guide you through the process that will give you that chance. But first, I want to spend some time one just getting to know you. It will help, I promise.
She straightened up, and leaned her elbows on her knees so that her hands folded in front of her.
Tell me about how things were before you entered this body. It may be difficult to remember, but try. Did you feel different? Did you think differently?

Amrita took a seat, shifting a moment before making herself comfortable; her knees lifted against her chest and her backwards feet tucked comfortably under her rear, her arms wrapping around her legs. She was gazing idly about the room, and even though she was not really looking at Riley, she was listening. Her lips pressed together again, her visible jaw shifting a little bit in thought. Hmm...quite a long time passed since then...and a lot of events happened in between, as well.
"I don't...really remember." She admitted sadly, lowering her head to cradle her chin on her knees. "Not as hazy I guess? I know I'm smarter than this, at least I'd like to think so." Amrita wasn't being entirely helpful, but at the same time it really was all she could say on the matter. She thought about it a bit more.
"I remember being dedicated? And proud of myself...right up until I got stuck." Then again, she was fairly dedicated now, especially to her studies. She tried hard to get past the fog in her mind.

You are smarter than this. I've seen it. She tapped her head softly with one clawed nail. I know it's difficult. Trust me, if anyone knows what you're going through right now, it is most certainly me. I have a great deal of confidence in you, however. You simply have to work harder, try harder, and never give up. Once you've found you can work your way through the muck, you will realize you have had the power to leave your body all along.
She reached over and placed her hands in front of Amrita, palms facing upward. Unfortunately, it will be a long, arduous process. But you will not be alone for any of it. So, if you're ready, I'd like to begin.

"When?" Amrita couldn't resist asking, blinking curiously. She never really recalled being incredibly smart; lucky in some instances (extremely unlucky in others), but not very smart. She was honestly curious and definitely not trying to make Riley's life harder than it had to be; though, if that did happen, it wasn't her intention.
"I'll try." She promised in regards to the working harder and never giving up; she tried to be a hard worker all the time, it was the not giving up in this case that would be difficult. The outstretched hands were given a curious look that was soon transferred to Riley's white eyes.
"Uhm...sure?" Shifting a bit, she had loosened her grip on her legs, but still wasn't quite sure what to do with her hands.

It isn't a matter of when. It's a matter of your potential. I've felt it. I know what you are capable of, and I know you are not currently aware of it. Deep down, underneath all of that fear, and uncertainty, you are quite exceptional. I can only hope to one day show you that as clearly as I have seen it.
She reached out, and took both of Amrita's hands in her own. Now, I want you to tell me something. Who would you say is the most confident person you know?

See, Amrita couldn't dispute that; Riley had been in her brain where she couldn't go. That just wasn't fair! So she stayed quiet on the matter; deep down she still didn't believe her, but she was trying. It was just hard to accept that she could be anything other than what her hazy and foggy mind told her.
The question was mulled over and a hazed grey eye focused on their hands. The most confident person she knew...hmm. She knew so many! Even Tahki was more confident than she was, she was sure of this. But who was most confident? Hmm...
"Livi." She answered after quite an intense mental debate. The Envy Demon had to be the most confident, dedicated person she knew; it was the only reason he would still be around her after all this time.

Riley had little experience with the Envy demon. The most she knew of him was that he was very brightly colored, and always dressed well. She had to take Amrita's word that he was confident, and so she did. She squeezed the ghoul's fingers gently, and her eyes lifted to crescents. Good. Now sit back, relax, close your eyes, and picture Livi for me. She slid closer so that her contact with Amrita's hands did not have to break despite her leaning back into the chair. She gave the ghoul a few seconds to form a picture in her mind. I want you to really try your hardest to get a mental image of him at his proudest. Think of him doing something he is exceptionally good at. Feel the way his confidence exudes out of him.
She waited a few more seconds for Amrita to form the image fully, before her voice became softer, soothing and calm. You can see it coming off of him, like an tangible aura. He is sure of himself. He knows what he can do, and he's proud of it. His confidence wraps around him like a warm blanket of light and color.
Now, be near Livi, in your mind. Feel your self close to him. Feel the aura of confidence as you reach out and touch it.
She paused once more, letting silence fill the room, before she whispered. Can you feel it? What does it feel like?

AND THEN AMRITA COULDN'T DO IT. THE END.
Only not really.
The Vetala, who had been leaning her chin on her raised knees, leaned back as she was told, closing her eye and listening for further instruction. Okay...picture Livi, she could do that.
"Does he have to be holding clothes?" She asked innocently, but a little worried about that; most of the time he was holding a new dress or something for her to try on. Sadly she didn't get too much of a chance to dwell on it as Riley continued to spew instructions, and she focused on that instead.
Imagine him at his proudest; that was easy, when she submitted to wearing what he picked out for her. Okay, next...something he was good at? Hunting her down. She could feel the pride and confidence, almost.
Man, it was hard to keep a mental image in her head! It kept wobbling, like a reflection in water. Her expression tightened into concentration and she tried her hardest to keep it clearer.
"Scary." Was her honest reply. A proud and confident Livi, as default as that was, meant a lot of traps for her.
