User ImageA mass of white and teal fur bounded to the water hole. He was happy, but for what would be anyone's guess. It seemed like Takoda always found joy in something, no matter how big or how small it was. He beant his great head down to the water and lapped up a drink, the coolness running down his throat and refreshing him. His pink eyes scanned the area. There wasn't many about today, just a few birds minding their own business. How boring. It seemed that perhaps the waterhole might not be as exciting as he hoped.

Takoda had always lived like this, moving from one place to another in hopes of finding something new and exciting. And along the way he always seemed to make friends. There was just something about the large, white and teal lion that made it easy for people to like him, and Takoda liked them back. Of course he'd never found a place to settle down, so he kept moving, no matter how hard those he had befriended begged him to stay. He was always wanting more.

It was a refreshing day. Still it was a bit odd to be about at such an odd hour, normally she was up and out way before or after this time. The lioness had traveled all the last night and most of the day before that and once she had finally found this small place, a calm area where she could finally rest, she had completely passed out. Looking up at the sky she frowned, “Oh. I didn’t mean to stay asleep so long.” Her gaze darted about. Maybe she could take the time to rest more. She supposed it wouldn’t hurt though she really wished to be on her way.

As it was she was thirsty. Always, always used to being surrounded by water the lioness had never really understood its necessity to those who lived in the open savannah. How others lived this way she would never understand. Still she couldn’t help but to perk up at the sight of a water hole. Finally! With a small sound of laughter she missed seeing the male and rushed straight into the refreshing pool.

The white and teal lion lifte his great head to watch as the blue lion ran past. He blinked in bewilderment as she entered the water. That was something he'd never done before, and it seemed strange, if a little intriguing as to what exactly she was doing. Nevertheless, Takoda was happy. Someone was here! A chance to make a new friend? He hoped so.

The lion chuckled to himself before he tried to get her attention. "Um, hi there!" He called out, a goofy grin on his face, his pink eyes lighting up at the chance to meet someone new.

Honestly she still hadn't recognized the presence of another until after she had dived and resurfaced she realized that there was someone calling out to her. "Hmm?" The lioness turned and blinked at the male in surprise. Oh! "Sorry." She called out with a small laugh, "I was just so happy to see the water here..." She pulled herself through the water with the ease of an experienced swimmer and waded towards him.

Bending down to lap at the water around her paws, she took a moment to study him. He seemed nice enough - if not handsome. He definitely was a looker she couldn't help, but to notice that. Still that was no big deal to her. She was not one to be easily won over by appearances. "Sorry, to have ruined your peaceful drink with my splashing." She commented suddenly with a shy smile.

Takoda laughed. "I can see," he said, replying to her statement about the water. It wasn't everyday he encountered one that would dive right in. He'd never done it before, but maybe today was a good day to try, she was pretty after all, and he couldn't help but notice that she seemed to be a part of the water itself, her coat allowing her to blend with the liquid. He wondered if it was hard to move through the water, she certainly made it look easy.

"I don't mind at all!" He said, smiling again, in fact, he was rather happy to have some company. Things were always more interesting when another was about. "I'm Takoda by the way," he added.

Zarya flushed lightly at his comment. Maybe she over reacted at the sight of water. Most probably would find her behavior a bit odd. It was just that she missed the ocean waves so much - even a river would be fine. A river would be great actually. The long length of water snaking through the land...she shook her head and focused back on him with a small smile. At least he didn't seem upset by her sudden intrusion. That was good.

"Great!" She laughed, "I was worried that I may have made you angry, Takoda." She nodded and repeated his name softly under her breath. Takoda. "A pleasure to meet you, I'm Zarya." She paused and looked from the water back to him. Would he? "Care to join me? It's quite refreshing compared to the day's heat."

"Nice to meet you Zarya." He smiled. "Hah, you definitely haven't made me angry, in fact you've made me the total opposite! I was beginning to think there'd be no one around." The big lion did like company.

"Uh.." He started, whilst her invitation was certainly interesting, he had just one small problem. He didn't know how to swim. But how hard can it be, right? He thought to himself. She seemed to be able to do it with ease, so surely it wouldn't be too much of a problem for him. "Okay!" He answered, his voice slightly shaky at the prospect of the unknown.

He jumped in, and found that it was a lot harder than it looked. His limbs were flying everywhere, trying to keep himself afloat, and the water wasn't even that deep. It would have been a sight to see. Finally, Takoda realized he could just stand, and so he did, with a look of utter embarrassment on his face.

Zarya smiled in relief. "That's good to hear." She laughed lightly, "So you were hoping for company then? I just hope that I bear up to what you were looking for." The lioness stretched out in the water with a small sigh of happiness. Any water touching her fur and she was in bliss. It just felt so refreshing. If only it were the ocean. Her eyes closed briefly and for a second the lioness could almost feel the sea breeze.

But it wasn't enough to distract her from his delayed response. Was he hesitating to enter the water? Zarya was confused. Did he not like water then or could...he? No surely not. The lioness shook her head before grinning at his agreement. "Come on then, there's plenty of room. I should hope that I don't take up the whole water hole." She commented teasingly.

And then he jumped in. Had the water been any deeper the lioness would have tried her best to help him. Maybe even have swam beneath his body and pushed him towards the surface. As it was she realized the water was not deep at all and could not help the soft laughter that escaped from watching him. Turning her head away she waited until the splashing stopped and looked back to see that he was standing. "Well that seemed to be fun." She finally managed with a somewhat straight face. It was obvious that he was not used to water and could not swim. Still she didn't want him to be so embarressed about it and tried to push it off, "Your ability to splash is quite amazing. I err...don't know if I should play around with such a master of water. But then again since you started it - " She pawed at the water and sent a playful splash his way.

Takoda's embarrassment lasted a short time until he realized she wasn't going to make anything of it. The the lion burst into laughter. "Hahaha, how graceful I was. I bet you've never seen anyone quite so skilled as me before," he joked, knowing full well that his performance was quite the opposite.

"It must be a natural talent," he remarked in reply to her comment about his splashing, "because I've never done it before, I guess it just comes naturally." He chuckled before being hit in the face with some water. "Hey, that's not quite how you do it." He smiled before pulling back his paw and sending a rather large amount of water her way, laughing whilst he was doing it.

The lioness grinned, "No, it's true. You're definitely something there. That performance was very unique." She shook her head, water droplets jumping from her soaked mane. Moving her way through the water to circle him, she laughed. "Oh, yes! Very natural talented, sir. The goddess herself must have blessed you. I'm jealous."

Zarya just shook her head at his comment before finding herself covered in a wave of water. Oh! She wasn't angry, however, but finding this playful act enjoyable. With ease the lioness slipped beneath the surface of the water and swam along the bottom towards his paws. If there was one thing the lioness was proud about it was her swimming. She could hold her breath for a very long time as well. And it just happened that she was feeling quite mischevious today.

The large, playful lion was enjoying himself. Never before in all his encounters with rogues had he met someone as fun as Zarya. And they'd only just met. He wondering just how long she might be around, and secretly hoped she would stay longer with him.

Takoda, getting a head of himself, jumped out farther into the water. Realizing despite standing in the water for several minutes he could not swim, he retreated back to a level that was more comfortable. When he was standing, he looked about for Zarya, but could not see her anywhere. Strange, she had just been there, hadn't she? His bright eyes looked around for any site of the lioness, not thinking to check the water, and even if he did he probably would not have seen her, her blue coat providing the perfect camoflague.

The lioness watched his blurry form on the other side of the water with amusement. He probably didn't realize just how close she was. Laughing bubbles Zarya slowly made her way to the surface, but kept only her head out of the water. Swimming slowly and ever so quietly the lioness circled the male and swam up next to him. Blowing into his mane the lioness quickly splashed back underneath the water. Though admittedly she couldn't really swim as well in the shallower water, so the lioness just hoped that her pelt wouldn't betray her this time.

Quietly circling him again Zarya waited before wading up to stand next to him. "Looking for something?" She asked with a grin. "Then again do you even know the name of what it is?"

Takoda was smiling, he wasn't worried, he was sure this was a game and she was not drowning. His pink eyes continued to scan the area but couldn't see her anywhere. Then he felt some air on his side and flicked his head around to try and catch her, but she was gone again. He laughed, "Aw, no fun! You're camoflagued!" He slashed the water in mock-annoyance.

Then he heard her coming back up from behind and turned to face her. "Wow, you're good," he said with a lopsided grin. If only he could swim like that, but then again, in the water he would probably be easily spotted, his white coat would point out his position under water easily, unlike her blue one.

"Uhh..." Woops! Forgot the introductions. Oh well. "I was looking for a pretty blue lioness, but she seems to have disappeared," he said playfully.

Zarya smiled. At least she was right about her pelt blending in perfectly with the water. Another thing she had always prided herself on. Her and her sister both looked like they themselves were water forms given flesh. "Thank you." She grinned back at him as he complimented her swimming. "I was basically raised in the water so I take pride in my ability." If there was one thing the lioness wasn't modest about it was her swimming. Her mother had pounded it into both her and her sister. By now it was almost as natural to her as breathing.

The lioness laughed softly at his reaction to her statement before she heard the rest of his words and froze. Pretty? Zarya felt her face warm and she blinked up at him. "Really?" She recovered and playfully turned around while splashing water around them, "I wonder where she went?"

Takoda nodded, he could definitely tell that she was at home in the water, the way she moved and was so at ease. He felt a bit embarrassed now that he thought back onto his earlier moment, where he'd all but drowned in a very shallow part of the watering hole. He decided then and there that he would practice swimming, so that the next time they had an encounter, and he hoped there was a next time, that he would be more up to her standard in the water. Perhaps one day he could reach her level! Takoda could only hope.

"Yep!" He said enthusiastically, smiling at their silly game. She was pretty, Takoda had never seen a lioness quite like her before.

"I dunno! Oh well!" He said whimsically, pretending to not to care anymore. He attempted to fall backwards and float, but in the end he just ended up splashing vigorously whilst trying to get back to a normal position. Baby steps Takoda, baby steps.
