Along the cliff side, there was a restaurant for tourists that over looked the bay in Camphoreon city. At 5 till 7 he parked the rental car and lead his date for the evening inside, speaking to the waiter. Despite it not being the weekend, the Kingler Diner was still fairly crowded. He had made reservations, even though it wasn't really needed to get in on a Wednesday night, if you were willing to wait. Foreigners in tall hats as well as rich locals dressed up just a bit sat at tables in twos and in groups both inside the restaurant and out on the deck in the center of which there was a dancing floor. Live music played in a slow waltz in the background conducted by a regal man in a two tailed tux.
They were lead out to the deck and seated in one of the better spots, a table for two overlooking the ocean, the real reason he called ahead a week ago. Panther had chosen to dress up in slacks and a nice shirt, formal without being overkill. On this rare occasion the sunglasses where once again gone, left on the dashboard of the car, though gloves adorned his hands as a replacement for the usual uniform.
He kept a hand around his date's waist leading her to her seat and holding out her chair, giving her a teasing grin. He had told her to dress up, but not that he had chosen a place so high class. "Please have a seat." he said to her as the waiter set down menus.

It had been weeks since Cal had gotten out for fresh air. Heck, she hadn't left her room since the cookie incident. But here she was, they had agreed on it. She was the one who wanted to go dancing, but she hadn't planned it would be so soon, or that they would be going out for a date.
When Panther had told her that they would be going out and that she had to look better than decent, it took her a while to find an outfit suitable. She stepped into the restaurant in a pair of black heels that crossed and lead up to the silver clasp on the side. Her faded rose dress, though simple, draped off her shoulders and graced her body and accented her curves, with black tights to dress it up. Her hair had grown to just the top of her shoulder blades, but was managed in a straight locks, her bangs still covering her eye. Though she didn't like to use makeup, she had applied a good amount to her scar so that it was hardly visible.
Her cheeks were set ablaze as her date paraded her around on his arm, which was set firmly around her waist. It did mean that she wouldn't bump into anything or anyone, but it was embarrassing all the same. As she took her seat, she couldn't help but enjoy the view. She turned her attention to her date, taking the menu in hand. "This is some place you got us into." She offered him a small smile, "You know, you didn't have to lead me in like that.." Her voice grew small as her cheeks grew hot once more.

"I know, but consider this my treat." he smiled at her and leaned down to whisper into her ear. "Besides, opportunity never comes to those who stay at home all day." he gave a glance at one of the ladies dancing, over decorated in diamonds. There was lots of opportunity to supplement their income here.
He straightened and took a seat on the other side of the table. "Have anything you want."

Cal shivered and her expression went sour. "I just haven't been up to the challenges of socializing." She picked up the menu to hide her face, still stained red. She could hardly focus on the menu, so instead, she looked up to the moon. It was a brilliant white and appeared to take up the whole sky. She sighed, letting herself calm down.
Now to take a look at the menu. Cal took a good look at it, contemplating her order. Truth was, she had no idea where to start. "Have you ever been here?" She looked over the edge of her menu to look at Panther, "I don't know what to order..." She let her eyes fall back on the fancy letting that decorated the pages.

"Nope never been here before." he shrugged a bit glancing over the the menu. The jumbo of numbers and prices might be daunting but once you had been to a few of the finer restaurants it was mostly the same. "I have been to one or two places like it though. They have seafood and some stake, mmm stake. Oh and meerp, that's pretty good too." he glanced up at her. "What kinds of things do you like? I'm pretty good at cheating the menus. You don't have to get their five star items to get a good meal you'll like." Creative frugalness was something that came from being a college student for a few years. One could go with the higher class crowd without paying the high class prices, definitely not something they taught in class.
Panther took the moment to study her, her hair curved over her bad eye. He couldn't help but feel it was his fault. She didn't seem to blame him for it, but, he glanced away and out to the moon. It was calming, glinting like a peal above the sea.

Cal sighed, turning her eyes to the menu once more. "I like pretty much everything," no frou-frou salads for this girl, "Tell you what, if you pick something that's absolutely delicious, then I'll give you something special." She grinned, a hint of mischief in her eye. Her gaze landed on Panther's as he turned away. Had he been looking at her? For some reason it made her a little angry, but happy at the same time.
The waiter returned to the table looking like quite the gentlemen. He had taken a second to finish writing down another table's order before he spoke to them asking what they would have. "I believe you will be taking care of this." She smiled waving a hand in Panther's direction.

This was a bad place to be put in. He glanced at Cal, forced to gusse at what she would like. Play it safe he decided, glancing at the menu. This really would take a bite out of his already decreased funds. Grunts weren't payed much and after that little run in with Nadja, he was payed even less. The bight side of being stuck in the base was that there was little opportunity to spend those funds for the pass few months. Still he made the choice anyway, Cal deserved it.
"Ahh, alright. Two crab soups and a sea food platter for two." definitely not the cheapest item, but surely she could find something among the oysters, fried shrimp, sushi and crab that she liked. The next time could be measured down to what she like, if there was a next time. "Oh and a side fish of chips."
The waiter nodded and took down the order. "Anything to drink sir?"
"I'll be fine with water, Do you want anything?" he glanced at Cal.

Cal pursed her lips as he ordered. The meal was sounding good already. I guess I'll have to give him a prize... She busied herself with her thoughts as she examined the fine table wear, the elegant people. She turned to Panther at his question, "That's fine with me too." She gave the him a bit of a flirtatious smile- unintentionally.
With a slight blush she turned away from Panther with a smirk on her face. "You sure are spending a lot on lil' ol' me." She closed her menu, handing it to the kind gentleman that took their order. "This will be a fun night!" She winked at him with her good eye. She was secretly giddy, forgetting the trouble of her injuries.

Success! He got her to smile. He glanced as the waiter left with their order and menus, and then turned to her. "Think nothing of it. You look to be having fun already."

Cal pursed her lips, looking away from Panther. "I just haven't been out in a while. That's all." She sighed, "I haven't had much fun in a while." It took her a few moments to return her gaze to their him, but along the way she toyed with her water glass or the silverware on the table.
"Have you had any fun lately?" She curiously questioned.

"Oh some." he grinned to himself. "Medical leave was nice, I wasn't injured badly mind you, and it was more a pain in the butt then anything, but being able to get off base was pretty nice." he flexed his hand a bit, enjoying the feeling in his fingers. He was pretty sure it would scar, but he'd survive it. The free time it had inadvertently caused was pretty nice, expecially since he had been working his tail off before that. It was that very injury allowed him to get them both out here.
"I like training outside much better then in the gyms."

"Ah..." She sighed, "So you actually got some fresh air on your medical leave?" She stifled a laugh, "I stayed in my room all that time. I guess I became sort of a shut in." She offered her hand to him so that she could look at the damage from the ballroom raid. "I hope it didn't hurt too bad..." Her hands shook a little, thinking of the whole ordeal.

"Naw. I'm fine. It was just a few cracked bones. I'm already good as new." He flexed the hand again but left it where it was at on the table. It wasn't quiet true, but the injury wouldn't impair him as long at he didn't do something stupid with it. The bandages were gone, but an angry red scar still ran the length of the burn, with two conspicuous white spots in the middle: all of which he keep under the gloves.
"And yeah, I got to go play. I don't walk on my hands after all." he teased her, keeping half an eye out for the waiter who looked to be returning with the soup.

"I'm just glad you're alright." Cal began to frown at the thought of something really bad happening to him. He was her friend after all, she couldn't let anything bad happen to him. She opened her mouth to comment more when the waiter came up and served them their soup. She looked at it questionably before dipping her spoon in to take a sip. "Let's hope that this is good, or you don't get a prize." She laughed a little before tasting the warm soup. She looked off into the distance for a moment, but returned to look at Panther with her ruling. "It needs some pepper." She smiled, "But other than that, it's good."

"No prize is necessary, but I'm glad you like it." Panther smiled at her before taking a bite. It was delicious, a delicate balance of flavors, rolling themselves across his tongue. But she was right, a dash of pepper would make it that much better. "Dang, this is pretty good." putting on his best manners he continued through the soup.
The waiter smiled and went away, leaving what he thought was a happy couple. He collected a few more orders before disappearing to the kitchen.
