You are unreasonably excited about plants. Primath complained, as her rider adjusted straps and containers for what seemed like the twentieth time. I thought you were interested in stars. She accused, with a snort, turning a baleful gaze on B'tar as he scrambled up onto her back.

"I am interested in stars, but this entire topic is also extremely interesting. Also, I'd be more interested in it if I were you, since this plant will also produce more green dragons, not just golds and bronzes and... browns."

He hesitated slightly before the last, heaving a large sigh. B'nas would be along with them, and he was not, he admitted, looking forward to that. The flight had been awkward enough, and of course Primath was being insufferable and cranky. He could tell she'd been hoping a bit that she'd have attracted a bronze, but not this time. Of course... he was trying to refrain from pointing out, or thinking too hard, on the fact that she was rather rude to bronzes and he certainly would have thought twice about trying to chase someone who so blatantly hated him.

I don't see why it's so interesting. She complained again, glancing around to see if the others were almost ready. Can we go already? I want to get this over with.

"We can, but at least try and behave yourself until we get back, alright? He urged. "I'm pretty sure it won't kill you not to antagonize him until we're done."

We'll see. And I let him catch me. Just to spite you.

She insisted this, though it rang a bit hollow, he'd seen her fly after all, and he braced himself as the stocky, powerful green took to the air, both of them focusing as hard as possible on their destination. With a combination of luck and skill, they'd all meet on 'the other side'.

B'nas wasn't happy.. not one bit. He didn't like that they had to rely on PLANTS ... but everything else had failed, even the 'fertile' new weyr had failed to produce a gold in it's latest clutch you're smug aren't you Milnth" he said to his dragon while he tightened the straps for flying.

"of course not" replied the brown, without an ounce of honesty "we must do this for the Weyr, if we bring enough back, we can be known for helping Benden recover"

B'nas said nothing, he knew that the team included B'tar and that situation was uncomfortable to say the least, especially since he'd not been able to find a willing girl, instead of the Green's rider. "Well, lets be off" he said.

Milth leapt up into the air, several strong wingbeats later, B'nas gave the image and the went Between.

"Time lost. Time found. And what shall we find? More plants for the man with his glass houses, who pledges his loyalty to us. To Benden. To rise again in glory, to eclipse the new Weyrs, and new ways, with their new dragons? Is this foolishness? Could we not learn from them? Yet, there again, could those strange-hided ones be merely a sign of fading fertility? When the golds lay golds once more, with we see a flash of red again here on our sands?... That pinches, Mine."

"Sorry old man," F'tiz swiftly adjusted the firestone sack that had been causing his lifemate discomfort, smoothing out the straps that attached it and fiddling with the buckles. As he felt the niggle fade from the brown's mind, he sighed slightly to himself and gave the dragon's shoulder a pat. "I don't know what the future holds, and I'm still not in favour of this ancientcrafter - I knew his promises were too sweet to be true - but orders are orders. We'll find the sturdier plants back in time, and hope that he doesn't make a mess of those too." If he had his way he'd be delivering the plants they found to reliable farmcrafters, but the choice was not for him to make. Sadly. Still, he was a man of Benden, and he would see to it that he represented his Weyr well today, as every day.

"In the future lies the past," Brumath rumbled as his rider mounted up and secured himself. "Now that to time is accepted, I know that it will not stop with the weed of the myst. No. Soon treasures, luxuries, supplies, all to satisfy the whims of those above us. Today we seek for survival. Tomorrow it will be spices and gems. They will forget this pledge they make soon enough, or perhaps merely work around. In either case, rider mine, when our queens once again beget queens still we shall be sent back. Brumath knows."

F'tiz gave another sigh and rubbed his face before pulling down his flight goggles. "I hope you're wrong, Brumath," he replied heavily, "I truly do." Necessity was one thing, but greed?... Still, his brown was always full of wild theories, and most of them turned out to be inaccurate... Most of them. "Well then," the grey-haired rider murmured, "let's get going."

And with that, they were off.

Are we ready yet, Mine? Taith asked impatiently, watching as Hers checked over their equipment yet again. This is, what, your fourth check?

"You're exaggerating," she muttered, checking carefully over the firestone to make sure it was all securely in place. Considering how important and potentially dangerous these missions were, they couldn't afford to be careless. These would be long jumps back after all. Also, she refused to be the one in the group who messed up in any way shape or form.

Pssh, no worries there. We will show them all just how perfectly we can do this, Taith boasted, puffing her chest out proudly and holding her head up high. Keela couldn't help but smirk and slap her partner's hide affectionately.

Of course we will. Now let's get going.

Finally!

The black-haired rider climbed up into the riding saddle and secured the straps. Carefully visualizing where and when they needed to go to meet up with the rest of their group, they took off into the air and disappeared Between.

B'tar and Primath appeared in the air, smoothly gliding as the two searched out the idea place to land, and waited for the others to appear behind them.
She'd arrived in fine form, and if they arrived a bit tired from the effort, they also arrived with a definite degree of pride.

That was when he spotted it. An Ancient ruin, half reclaimed by the landscape, with parts of it still peering up through the green, which made his pulse race.

Oh shards... Primath groaned. Plants AND old falling down things. That'll help our standing...

Cold, wet, no air .... NOT what B'nas and Milnth had been expecting, for a moment the two of them panicked, until B'nas opened his eyes and could see that they were in water. "Great...." he thought, then leaned over Milnth, who he was still strapped to, the firestone was weighing them down. In the air, Milnth had no problem but under the water it ws dragging the both of them down, especially with Milnth's slight panic.

B'nas what happened? where are we, i'm ..i cant..... "MILNTH! Calm down, we're in water.. WATER ... Don't go Between just swim up, i'll see if can untie some of this Firestone" Bellowed B'nas at his normally steady Brown.

Soon they were at the surface and both man and Dragon took a deep gulp of air. It took a few moments before Milnth felt ready to take to the air and begin looking for their companions. Milnth's keen eyes spotted Primath, and he bugled to her.

Well, they made it to the correct place as well as the correct time, but sadly their appearance out of Between was not quuuuite as high as they needed to be. In fact, when they appeared, they Keela and Taith found themselves to be half-submerged in a body of water. Oh you have got to be kidding me, the fair-skinned rider thought to herself, not the least bit pleased with having made such an embarrassing mistake.

Taith wasn't much happier on the matter, and let out a rather irritated bugle to show it. Next time visualize higher!

"Obviously," Keela replied, before giving her dragon a light smack on the neck. "And shush, would you? We're supposed to be keeping low."

Once back on land the two took off again; they were able to find the others of their group easily enough. At least we're not the only ones who made a water landing, she thought to herself wryly, spying the still soaked brownrider pair. Though considering it was B'nas and Milnth, that wasn't much of an ego booster.
