Lately life had been quiet for a change. A full four days after his pet training class had let out for the first time, West's dorm room remained surprisingly peaceful. Conscious of the threat posed by its master's new whip, Hate had once again retreated to the closet, and Master, Stench and Jerkwater seemed content to go about their business far from the wrath demon's sight.

That was perhaps why it came as such a surprise when all hell broke loose. Literally.

His full attention was concentrated on scribbling out some botany homework when a little red Hellhunter peeked around the corner of his desk. West didn't notice. Meeting no resistance, the animal emerged slowly from its hiding spot, eventually stopping at the demon's feet. In its mouth was the black and blue striped whip West had so eagerly accepted in Professor Malcolm's class before the room had met a fiery end.

"Nuh uh," West scolded, eyes wide. If that stupid thing carried his whip away to wherever dumbass wild Hellhunters lived, then he was gonna...

And there it went. West could have sworn the creature smiled before it doubled back and disappeared into the wall with his prize.

"GEBBACK'ERE!" Wall, wall, wall, what was on the other side of that wall? West made a few silent calculations in his head, then sprang from his seat and hurried out of his dorm and outside, keeping his eyes open for that b*****d Hellhunter all the way.

Holly was still getting use to it all. Being dead, having a humanoid figure, going to school. It was a lot of take in really. Perhaps the weirdest part of it all was school, did anyone alive ever think that awaited them? Or was she just that lucky... Whichever it was at least she was done with her classwork.

The ghost dorms couldn't hold her attention much that day. Today her mind wandered so what better to do than wander with it? Anyway she didn't have any infernal minipets like others to bother her.

The ghoul was out for a nice and quiet walk, her stuffed tail swishing behind her as she walked. Holly was pretty much zoned out when it hit her, literally. Some little red thing had ran over her foot. How dare it? Not that it hurt, she was a ghost after all, but still.

Now what was that? There was an angry demon running towards her? Oh, maybe that thing that hit her? The Hellhunter had ran off but seemed a little dazed from the run in. "Was that yours?"

Disgust and confusion passed over the demon's features before they settled back to their usual angry tilt. "Wha'no! Um. Yes! M'whip." Thinking for a moment about how that might be construed, West shook his head and added, "Frumpet class. Makes'em go t'sleep." He looked off in the direction he figured the animal had gone. "'N tha'thing stoleit! Didja see which wayyit went?"

He vaguely recognized this ghoul from that odd trip to the human world, but honestly that entire event was a blur. It hardly mattered anyway. If she could chase, maim, kill foul thieving minipets, then she was of use.

A whip, the thing that ran her over had a whip. What in Jack's name? Who exactly was this demon. She eyed him suspiciously. He looked familiar but she couldn't put her finger on where she'd seen him. "Well it doesn't look like it works very well does it?" Holly grinned. How did it get a hold of it if it was meant to put the beast to sleep. He seemed more intent on finding the thing though, so no harm to her right?

Holly looked back to the way it went and pointed towards it. "Yep, went that way. Need some help?" She didn't have a thing to do and could use a distraction.

West rolled his eyes at the ghoul and snickered a bit. "You're hilarious. Tha'pets'not mine. An' th'whip's only good ononeuvum. Not that one. Obv'usly." He looked off where she had pointed and caught the tail end of the animal as it took off further into the distance. Dammit, he was already kind of winded. He stood straighter, trying to hide the fact that beating people up almost never involved running.

"Yeah," he added. "Help'd be good. What can y'do? Fly?" He had played Super Scario Bros 3 as a little boil. He knew all about those weird raccoon things that could take off at a moment's notice.
PostPosted: Tue Feb 08, 2011 9:15 pm

"Thanks." Holly grinned. This boil was certainly interesting, for multiple things. "Why is a pet that isn't yours have a whip that doesn't work?" Oh, wasn't there some sort of minipet training class she heard about? Might have to do with that though how'd they get the whip to work with only one. No matter, back to the topic on hand. She eyed the other for a moment. She was going to have to catch it wasn't she? No matter since she never tired.

The ghoul stretched for a quick moment. "I'll get it, don't ya worry." She took a step but then looked back and rose a brow. "Fly? You insane, does it look like I have wings? Na I do something better." Well she thought it was better. Holly rose up a hand and did a two finger salute to the boil. The ghoul brought her hood up and then all of a sudden she shrunk. A fox was where she had been standing and it took off after the minipet.

"It came in frumsumwhere n'stole'it. Pets just seemta... like me." He sneered unconsciously at that fact. Screw animals. Screw 'em right in the... West waved his arms in tight, impatient arcs. This was no time for explanations! Whip! It was getting away from them!

He eyed Holly with a hefty amount of disbelief as she made her grand proclamation. Better than flying, huh? Well, he supposed he could understand that. He could fly if he put his mind to it, but it was rare that he did. West hated flying almost as much as he hated FEAR. But that was beside the point. Most of the students around here loved their prissy wings. West's brain had just gotten around to wondering why this ghoul was walking around in pajamas when she pulled up her hood and foxed out. Great. He tried to remember what he had said to her a moment ago. Had any of it been rabidly anti-animal? No? Good.

"Let'sgo," he said to the air. Holly was already gone, but West took off after her, crashing through a lifeless bush just in time to see the whip-carrying hellhunter disappear into a very strange wooden door he had never seen before. The portal was round, but that was far from the oddest thing about it. It seemed to lead into a hill. Huh.

"Hrm." Weeeeiiiird. "Imunna keep goin'." He stomped over to the hole in the hill and leaned in. It was dim, but then again so was everything in Halloween.

"You don't see like someone who would attract pets." Really he was yelling and acting all crazy towards it. She'd say no wonder it was yelling but how come it even found him? Holly shrugged as he waved his arms impatiently.

She was still wondering why he thought she could fly. Wait. Could ghosts fly? The ghoul had never tried but she lacked wings so she guessed it was a no. Holly didn't think much about his raving about minipets and her probably looking like one. She was scampering off and was luckily catching up.

The hellhunter disappeared into a door in a hill? Since when had this been here? The fox jumped through the slightly open door or through it really. It was dark, darn it. Holly opened her mouth but remembered she couldn't speak as a fox.

Holly turned back to her full humanoid size. "Ow." Her head hit the top of the room, it was to short for her to stand! "Get in. Close the door or it'll get out. Again."

West completely agreed with Holly's sentiment. Between his own stupid pets who had chosen him as their owner without his permission, to Vlad in minipet training class, to this stupid hellhunter, it seemed that the avarice demon was cursed with some sort of animal-attracting frequency he couldn't identify.

Hearing her inside already, West climbed through the door as well, shutting it behind him as he was instructed. He had to crouch quite low to keep his head from accidentally meeting the same fate as Holly's, and if he hadn't still had his hand on the door's handle he wouldn't have been able to tell which way they had just came in from.

"D'yanno where't went?" he asked, hoping that the fox ghoul had some sort of awesome sense of smell. With the door closed, West couldn't see five feet in front of him.

Holly thought as she ran after the beast. If he really did attract minipets did that work on students that were some sort of animal as well? Was that why she was helping? The ghoul was never much on helping especially those she didn't know.

Ouch. Head still hurt. She rubbed it and made sure to keep ducked down. "Seriously who builds places like this?" Part of her prayed it wasn't a gnome's house.

"I think that way." Holly pointed to a hall to her right. Before the door had closed she had seen it run that way and hoped she was right. It was dark and though she could see better than West, smell didn't work as well as it did when she was alive. "Can't you just attract the darn thing back?"

"I dundooit n'purpose," West muttered. If he had it his way, any and all animals would stay the hell away from him at all times. "Maybe iffwee weren't runnin'it wouldn't feel threat'nd'r somethin'?" He shrugged, then realized she probably couldn't see him. "I dunno."

He reached out his hands, feeling around blindly until he touched Holly's arm. Ah, that way that way. He nodded and started off in the direction she was pointing, much quieter this time. If this was a gnome's house, its residents were in for a nasty surprise.

"Obviously..." Holly had rolled her eyes at his statement but of course he couldn't see it in this dark. And neither could she really. "Hmm? You think it might stop running? Maybe we could sneak up on it, nicely?" If that was possible.

Though she wouldn't admit it she almost jumped when he touched her arm. Oh, yeah, he couldn't see. "Er, to the right yeah." She followed close as they made their way through the short place. She squinted as she saw something, a door? "You see that? Bit of light from under a door I think."

"Mmm hmm," West replied. His expression turned quizzical, not that it could be seen in the darkness that surrounded them. If the hellhunter had gone this way, how had it opened the door? "I'm goin' in," he warned, squinting his eyes against what was likely going to be a sudden and irritating flood of brightness.

West felt around for the inevitable knob and used it to open the door a crack. He blinked as he had predicted, eyes adjusting to the light. When they did, the demon inched forward, silently preparing himself to deal with whatever it was that was beyond the door.

Whatever strange contraptions lined the walls of the space he stepped into went unnoticed by West. There, on the floor just feet in front of him, was his whip. The hellhunter sat a short distance away, as smug an expression on its face as the beast could manage.

"I'munna kill you!" West announced, all thoughts of sneaking up on the creature flying out of his head. He ran for the animal, grabbing up the whip on his way past.

Holly crossed her arms and waited. Of course he'd go in. She was surprised he didn't just charge right into the door and break it down. Did he actually understand the art of subtly was needed to catch this beast?

Seeing only slightly she took a few steps forward to make sure she was closer to the door when it opened. Just in case the hellhunter tried to bolt out from behind the door or something. The yells from him as well as the sound of West rushing past the door meant he found it. Also that he forgot about the sneaking up on it part. The ghoul sighed and entered the room.

It was defiantly brighter in here. Not that it mattered too much to her. Holly stepped into the room and not a moment after that the door shut behind her. "Did you hear that?" Not paying the slightest attention to West and the hellhunter she turned and looked at the door. A bunch of weird stuff was on the wall, was that what made it shut?

She tried the handle. It didn't move. "Uh, whatever your name is, the door won't open. At all."

"Huh?" The wrath demon stopped, frowning as the little horned creature bolted off further into the tunnels. He wrapped the whip around his hand, punching the air in front of him slightly before giving up the chase as a lost cause.

He turned to face Holly again. "Itwon't?" he asked, walking over to give the door a tug himself. "That, uh, sucks." He didn't say as much, but his tone seemed to imply that he was sorry for dragging her into this mess, or at least sorry he had dragged himself into it. The boil did chuckle at the fact that he still hadn't told her his name.

"I'm West." As he spoke, West's gaze wandered from the fox ghoul to the wall they had entered through. Tacked at even distances from each other were a seemingly endless number of wicker boxes, each appearing to have something inside. "What th'hell's goin' on here?" he said. He looked back at the tunnel the hellhunter had disappeared through. Now that he had his whip back, it didn't seem as important to follow the thing, but if they didn't try, they might never find their way out again.
