It was probably hard to tell that Sheldon Hobbes even attended school. Sure, he wore the uniform but he was always so lacking in the other necessities that other academic young adults had in hand; that being books, bags and laptops or even a writing utensil of some sort. His pockets were simply filled with what he needed to get by with; wallet, phone, keys, lighter and a pack of cigarettes that were well hidden in the inner pockets of his jacket - his usual disposition of no cigarettes at school now rid of.
When he was well out of the allotted 'no smoking' range from the school's building, those cigarettes escaped his pocket in a slow lazy manner, as excepted of the slacker he was. Out from the other pocket came his lighter, the process complete and the sweet taste of nicotine filled Sheldon's lungs. He took the first few blissful puffs standing still, not minding the irked looks as fellow students passed him as they made their way home or other doings.
School. A new semester, new courses and new irritations. He obliged in going to the first few days of classes, mostly in trying to figure out the system in which to dodge work and continue in his lazy ways [sometimes it was a little more work than doing the work, but whatever]. Sheldon sighed, running his hand through his unbrushed hair and continued walking, simply following the path in which the sidewalk took him.

Ever was waiting, settled up against a wall just around the corner, hands shoved into his pockets and one foot wiggling in time to an unheard beat, an earworm that he was too tone deaf to properly hum. One glance at his torn jacket, battered military-issue boots, the skull cap pulled down over his hair to keep his head worn, would mark him as potentially a thug, a troublemaker, and definitely not a student.
With a little effort, and about fifty pounds gained, Ever could have been rather intimidating. As it was he looked twitchy and impatient, leaning out to keep an eye peeled for Breu or Dee, to see if he could coax one or the other into lending him some cash.
Instead his eyes settled onto Sheldon, approaching with smoke hissing out the corners of his mouth, and Ever's expression brightened. As he approached, he stuck a hand out to keep the younger man from passing, and offered a bright flash of a smile. "Hey, man, got another of those?"

Sheldon's face scrunched up for a moment, half lidded eyes staring at the hand barrier that was halting his path to no where for a little too long before they trailed up the appendage and to the happy smiling face. His fingers plucked the dangling cigarette from his lips, allowing them to pull to the side in consideration.
"Yeah, sure." The green haired youth shrugged, reaching into his coat pocket for the little box of cigarettes. His demeanor quickly changed and relaxed, shoulders drooping as he held the open box towards the other boy.

"You are a hero." It sounded genuine, too, instead of mocking, and Ever took liberties since Sheldon seemed friendly enough. Instead of one cigarette, he took two, one of them disappearing up into his palm and then pocketed before there was time to object. Hopefully.
The other one he settled between his lips to go digging for a lighter, his eyes still tracking Sheldon. "Have, uh. Have you seen two tall guys, one kind of fruity, one with a funny accent?"
His words were muffled, a little blurry, his eyes brightening as he found the cheap plastic lighter. "I was hoping to nab them when they came out, but..."

Sheldon silently nodded his head, putting back the carton as soon as it seemed Ever was done pilfering from his cigarettes; though, these weren't Sheldon's Djarum Blacks, so he didn't care how many he took.
"That's a ... pretty vague description," Sheldon finally offered after taking a long drag from his cig. Like he paid attention to people, haha. He might be able to recognize that they were in a class he took, but everything else was pretty much lost to Sheldon; names, demeanor, accents, those old chestnuts. And given how many people attended SHliP ....
He took another glance at Ever, a studious one with a fair mix of random curiosity. "Sure they aren't avoid you?" For that matter, why wasn't he? Usual Sheldon behavior dictated he would have walked away by now.

"I don't think they'd be trying to avoid me. Uh. They're both wearing uniforms like yours?" He was still trying to get his plastic lighter to light; it was possible that the poor, cheap thing had finally reached the end of its life, the gas run low enough that it couldn't quite catch...
It meant he looked up with big, hopeful eyes at Sheldon, the unlit cigarette still dangling between his lips. "For the love of God, man, help me out here."

Sheldon's curious look scrunched further together and he sighed, "again, not helping yourself here." Vague, vaguevague.
"You're probably asking the wrong guy really," he continued as his features finally relaxed to his usual laze, "I'm not one to really pay attention to my peers." The boy shrugged, pulling his lighter out and opening it with a click and a pop. The little flame danced a little as he held it out to Ever, death grip keeping it in his hand - it was one thing to let someone take some of his cigarettes but no one touched his lighter... especially someone who took his cigarettes.

He didn't have to worry so much; Ever didn't try to take the thing, though he did wrap a hand firmly around Sheldon's to keep him from going anywhere, and leaned in easily to light the tip of his cigarette. Practiced, all of it, even the way he held Sheldon's hand for too long and maybe settled in a little too close. He was used to the wrong kinds of clubs, and the wrong kinds of people.
He drew in smoke; leaned back, hissing it out slowly, his eyes flashing up onto Sheldon's face and both eyebrows lifting. The bruise around the left side of his face meshed into the skull cap pulled low, poorly disguised by the drape of his hair.
"Uh huh. Maybe I missed them." He was dismissive of it now; looking to borrow some cash, but he could find them later. Or find the money later. Whichever worked out better. "...dunno why you're here if you're not paying attention, though."

Though Sheldon really was one for personal space and people not crossing into them, he didn't show that he was uncomfortable with how long Ever's hands lingered over his own or how too close. He was all about the air of indifference, though his eye did twitch a little.
Once Ever was finished, Sheldon regained his hand and his prized lighter was safely tucked back into one of his side pockets. "Perhaps," he shrugged, itching to leave but for some reason still lingered. "Not usually here by choice really," parental leashes and all. There were tests today, he made a point to be at school when there were tests.
The itch to ditch spiked again, but Sheldon still continued to stand around with the white haired boy as if feeling bad for his situation. "You have either one of their numbers?" He suddenly asked, ready to reach into his pocket just in case Ever needed a phone.

"Mmm." He shook his head at that, quickly, and then flashed Sheldon a little smile. Calling them up didn't sound like a good plan to Ever. Calling someone to ask him for money was a terrible plan. It was much, much too easy to turn him down on the phone, and much harder in person, looking at him...
"Nah, it's okay." He tapped off the cigarette and gestured somewhat dismissively to Sheldon, looking back over his shoulder and then up to the other man's eyes. "I can just catch them later. Which way are you going?"
Ever assumed easily that he could walk with Sheldon, some -- and maybe bum a second cigarette. A thoughtless and potentially infectious kind of self-confidence.

Sheldon sure wasn't going to argue with the other guy over his decisions and simply nodded his head, pulling his own drag from his cigarette. Nor was he going to pry over the reasons or circumstances, that would just be silly and Sheldon really didn't care.
Hefting a sigh, he mulled over the question for a moment even though it really was a simple one. Did he even have any plans, he certainly didn't plan on entertaining anyone... if ever [hah!] but seeing as how there were a few more than a few greetings exchanged it was probably too late to shake Ever off. And that would probably be too much work now. "Didn't have a direction in mind really," did he ever? He found himself wandering far too often, "too early to head home." Mild lie, it was never too early for sitting on one's couch, he just wasn't in the mood.
"Could.... just keep going this way." He gestured with pointing his thumb out, the direction he had already. Oh yes, Sheldon Hobbes, one filled with activities!

Ever blinked at him for another long moment, and then one corner of his mouth turned up in a bemused smile. Careless and familiar, he tapped ash off the end of his cigarette and turned in place. When he spoke, it was around the filter again, drawing more smoke inward.
"Man, I have no idea if you're bullshitting me or just really, really lame." It was amused, though, instead of biting: teasing instead of cruel. "Trying to shake me off, or do you genuinely not know where you're going?"

While Ever blinked, Sheldon simply stared in his half lidded non-caring manner. His own cigarette rested lazily between his lips even when he pushed them together in a thin line as the rest of his face contorted to signal that the boy was sadly giving Ever's accusation some thought.
Finally after a pause, his face relaxed to one of conclusion and returned to his normal placid look and he shrugged. "Probably some of the latter," sure he didn't want to think of himself as lame but really, he couldn't argue with that nor would he want to bullshit anyone - well, deep down probably, but only if it wasn't too much effort. "Just didn't have a plan for today, does everyone need to know where they're going every second of their life?"
Oh wow, was Sheldon getting deep and philosophical on Ever? Okay, maybe a little but it wasn't his intention. He really just had nothing on his plate today but sitting on his a** for the rest of it. "If you have ideas, I'd be all for it really." Okay, maybe that was a little bit of a dumb offer, because that was inviting socialization into Sheldon's world. Sigh, too late now.
