Why did the day have to be so long? A brown haired girl, with green ribbons in her braids, stared at the board with a solemn expression. She was trying to take notes, but the teacher's words went in one ear and out the other. "Paige," The young girl's ears perked, "Would you be a dear and deliver this box to this room?" Paige was handed a pass and a box as the teacher shooed her out the door. She didn't mind, really. It was nice to get out of that class once in a while, specially when that teacher was on one of her famous lectures. It was nice to be sent on her random trips around the campus.

On Paige's way through the campus, she took long slow strides to make the trip last as long as possible. She hummed a little song to herself, skipping and enjoying the scenery when she noticed a song carried on the wind that seemed to accompany the mood. She was draw to the sound that sprang from the vibration of stings to the source, a classroom that was normally not used around this time. She came close to the door, hesitating for a moment before pulling it open gently and poking her head in. "Hello?" She spoke quietly and looked around to spot a girl that she hadn't seen all that much around school. Paige decided that her playing was interesting enough for her to stay until she finished. She entered and admired the girl's playing from afar.

The music room was nearly deserted, as there was no class to be held there during the last period of the day. The room was dark, the blinds pulled down over most of the windows, save for the single glass window at the far end of the room. There, as the warm sun poured it's golden rays into the room and the dust particles danced about enthusiastically, sat the sole occupant of the room. Sitting there, bathed in the afternoon light, was none other than Koorie Shizuku, her head tilted to the side as she cradled her violin, practicing from the sheet music in front of her, her eyes half closed as she began to enter a half-trance state.

Playing her music was her best way to calm herself when she'd had stressful events; events that she couldn't speak to anyone with. Currently, the source of her displeasure was a student she was being forced to complete a project with. However, at the moment she felt quite relaxed as the notes from her violin floated lightly around the room.

The very instant Paige's voice reached her ears, however, Koorie's playing instantly came to a screeched halt. Literally. Wincing a little from the unpleasantly loud sound, she lowered the violin from her shoulder and turned slightly to look over at the newest occupant in the room.

"Can I help you?" Came the clearly annoyed 'greeting', her voice not even hiding her displeasure.

Paige flinched with the girl's abrupt stop. It was probably her fault... It was most likely her fault... She was pretty sure it was her fault. That greeting set it in stone. She only hesitated for a moment before crossing the music room to come closer to the girl. "I was running an errand," She smiled a little looking from the girl and her violin to the note. "Actually it's for the teacher of this class." She giggled, brushing the bangs out of her face with her free hand. "You wouldn't happen to know if the teacher's in?"

The brunet couldn't help but fuss with the hem of her shirt as she tried to bide past the silence that filled the air. It was already sullied with the hint of annoyance from the girl, but Paige pressed on. She wanted to her the girl play some more. "I'm sorry if I disturbed you..." She averted her eyes for a moment, but showed no signs of leaving the girl alone.

Turning herself in her chair, her back facing the open window and the bright light from behind her causing her figure to go into shadow with golden edges, Koorie watched the other girl quietly, judging her up. The other girl was approximately her hight, and she looked vaguely familiar. God she hated it when she couldn't place a face to a memory.

"She doesn't hold class during this last period. If you're lucky she might still be in the teacher's room getting ready to leave." Her voice came out dry and completely devoid of any hint of irritation. To be honest, she was more annoyed at herself for having screeched out that last note than at being disturbed by another.

And from the looks of this other girl, she wasn't a threat at all; she might be a walking headache if she didn't leave soon though. A smirk etched on Koorie's mouth as she watched the other girl fidget: wonderful, the intruder was feeling uncomfortable, maybe this meant she would be leaving soon to go run her stupid little errand.

She sighed, "Oh really?" Paige paused for a moment, thinking about what would happen if this errand was not finished. She could always do it tomorrow, besides, she much rather listen to this girl's wonderful playing. She gave the girl a big smile, "I guess I can take a few moments to listen to you play." She waited for a moment, "Of course, that's if you don't mind."

Paige hoped that the girl would be okay with letting her listen in on her practice. It wasn't everyday that Paige was around this way to even get an earful of the band or orchestra. It made her a bit giddy to know that this was a rare occasion. If she had been able to play an instrument, she would ask to join in with her. But garden pretty much consumed her free time. That and nature walks. Oh, Paige didn't know when people obviously didn't want her to be around.

Son of a-

A very slow sigh escaped her lips as Koorie's mouth twitched a little. There was a reason she'd ditched her last period class and having an audience was not high on her list of desired things. In fact, it was probably the lowest thing on her list, right next to having a Spinal Tap or going out on a date.

Not answering the girl, she turned her back to the door and the intruder, placing the violin back into position. Her eyes scanned over the sheet music for a few moments, calculating exactly where she wanted to start and hoping that this stupid girl would get a clue from her cold shoulder and just leave. Once she'd decided where to start, she raised the bow and placed it to the strings, and the music flowed out with ease, erasing a good amount of her tension.

Paige pursed her lips as the girl turned away. Maybe she was just shy? But when she started to play her worries were eased. She smiled, closing her eyes wishing that she could play as well. The sun bathed her in a warm afternoon glow which made her appear to have a non threatening aura. Though, it probably wasn't the case.

The notes, each played with incredible precision, were almost a tangible force as bellowed out from the girl's violin and wrapped around the room. It was impossible to leave now, she was just too caught up in the girl's amazing playing. She couldn't help but feel a great pleasure in the sounds. It made her want to applaud! But she knew better then to clap or even breath as the bow caused the violin's strings to produce a heartfelt melody.

As the music filled the room, Koorie slipped into another trance-like state as all of her thoughts and stress melted away while her fingers slid over the strings. It was curious though, how such a seemingly joyous tune could hold such a miserable undertone; something Koorie wouldn't notice, due to her therapeutic state.

It took her several minutes to finish through with the section she was working on, and as she set her violin down on her lap a very slow sigh released from her. Her shoulders slumped a little into a relaxed state as Koorie brought herself out of her trance, somehow having forgot there was another person in the room; it probably had something to do with how quiet the other girl was being.

the music still rang pristine in Paige's ears as the girl ceased her playing. That was truly wonderful, if only the girl knew. Or she did know and didn't like to show off and that's why she was here practicing at the end of the day when no one was supposed to be in this room. She waited a few moments for the girl to acknowledge here, but she probably forgot that she was there. Paige hadn't made a peek since the girl began to play again for fear that she would stop.

Paige drew in a deep breath and cleared her throat, a light blush on her cheeks. "That was really amazing..." she managed to squeak out, hoping that the girl wouldn't get offended that she was still hanging around. "I'm Paige by the way... Never got your name." She smiled wide and bright.

It didn't take long for the tension to suddenly come back into Koorie's body; in fact, it only took Paige's voice to bring her back into her alerted state. Her mouth set in a firm line, she bent over her chair and pulled out the violin case, snapping the gold latches open.

"Koorie Shizuku." She said dryly, not bothering to hide her irritation as she carefully placed the glistening wood violin in the velvet lined case. "And it was mediocre at best." Paige may not have noticed the few times she'd been off key or the time she'd been playing off tempo, but Koorie certainly knew better.

Paige couldn't help but giggle, "Better than I would ever be." She smiled to the girl, even though she could tell Koorie wasn't enjoying her company. You could cut the tension with a knife, and it was all produced by this new girl. Paige was just trying to be friendly. "It's nice to meet you Koorie." She offered the girl another welcoming smile.

Her instrument looked to be in excellent condition, kept clean and given proper care. "It looks like you enjoy playing." She added as Koorie began to put away her things, "How long have you been playing might I ask?" Hopefully she wasn't beginning to push any buttons by asking some simple questions, but Paige's presence seemed to tick her off.

"Hm, it's a pleasure, I'm sure." Koorie quipped out to Paige, not even bothering to cover up her feigned politeness. At least she had manors, thanks to her parents constant pressure to 'always remain lady-like'. Oh if only they could see what she'd become, they would probably be rolling in their graves in horror.

Seeming to read Paige's mind about the condition of her instrument, Koorie pulled out a soft cloth from a compartment and gently ran the fabric over the smoothly polished wood, causing the grain to gain a glowing effect in the sunlight. "I started playing when I was in kindergarten. I became serious about music about 7 years ago." It was perhaps one of the only things that kept the lonely days in the hospital from being insufferable, and during her stay she'd picked up so many different instruments that it was only natural that she took comfort in notes instead of people.

"Why are you still here." It was more of a demand than a question, and Koorie's cold gaze flicked over Paige, almost daring her to try something.

"No wonder you're so good." She watched as the cloth was drawn across the instrument gently. It seemed to glow with a warmth that Paige had thought left the room when Koorie stopped playing. She couldn't help but smile. Her smile was as warm and as bright as the glow coming off the violin in the afternoon sunlight. She felt content and peaceful.

That was until Koorie had spoke up again. "What?" She held mild shock on her face. "I don't have anywhere to be." Paige was getting a little defensive. "I was hoping that your teacher would come back." Her brow furrowed angrily. "If you wanted me to leave, you should have said something." The nerve of some people. Paige would never get this mad, but somehow, Koorie was rubbing her the wrong way.

With a sharp crack, the violin case snapped shut and was followed up with the clicks of the brass clasps as Koorie locked the instrument safely away. Her eyebrow twitched a little in irritation as Paige told her that she needed to have SAID something in order to be alone.

Gathering up the sheet music off of the stand and carefully tucking them away into plastic sheet protectors in a leather folder. Standing quickly enough that her chair was pushed back, Koorie turned on Paige with narrowed eyes and thin lips. She strode across the room, her mood turning fouler with each and every step that brought her closer to the other girl. Her footsteps stopped only inches from the offender and she made certain to fully invade any personal space with her own dangerous presence.

"I didn't realize you were brain-dead enough that you needed to have everything spelled out for you. The instructor has left for the day, you have no reason to need to stay, and it should have been more than obvious that I wasn't appreciative of your company."

Tears stung at the brunet's eyes painfully. All she wanted was to listen to the girl play, was that deserving of such a punishment? She couldn't even bring words to her lips, but plenty swarmed through her mind. If she had tried to speak, her words would come out choked and strained, defeating the purpose of telling her new acquaintance off.

Instead, there was option two. Paige didn't wish for more conflict, or for the girl to see her cry. So she turned on her heel and headed to the door. Before she left, she paused. "I'll be taking my leave then." And with that she left. Letting her tears flow as she made her way back to her classroom to gather her things and just leave that place.
