Asmodeus Mann generally has people's best interest in mind. As a boy, he was a beggar and made what he could as a street performer, caring for his younger brother as best he could. However, that only worked to a certain extent. But as Asmodeus grew older, he learned about an unusual talent he possessed. He could direct people's attention to anything he wanted. They would fixate on a dirt clump if he willed them to.
He teamed up with other performers, directing people's attention while he took their purses. The lucrative business came too late for his brother, unfortunately. He did manage to get himself looking presentable and like he belonged with everyone else. It made his work from the crowds much easier.
A few months later, he found a young child, a girl barely old enough to walk. He decided to take her in and as he cared for her, he discovered she was unusual too. She was unique. Special. Like him. She could heal herself incredibly fast. A scraped knee took less than a minute for her to heal. As he noticed this, an idea dawned on him. He could make a place for him and his performers to work and where anyone else he found with powers could live and not have to hide.

The circus had been around for a very, very long time. It had been around for a long time a hundred forty-seven year ago, in 1860. Since then, the circus has flourished as it traveled and found new performers and workers. Those who are immortal and have stayed with the circus have greeted all of the new members with joy. Other members have left to raise a family, found love or even just grown old and passed away. It is still the same circus that everyone has always known and it has withstood the tests of time.
