Who is your favourite Starcraft 2 commentator?

There are so many great voices commentating Starcraft 2 professionally, from the faces of MLG: Day9, JP or DJwheat, to the voices we hear online, Husky, HD, Psy, and let's not forget the infamous Tasteless and Artosis duo, best known as Tastosis, commentating what is considered to be the highest level of tournament play, the GSL in Korea.

So who is your favourite?

HD. Psy makes a close second. I've only heard Day9 once so I have no opinion that him. At the opposite end is Husky, whom I never want to hear again.

HD is probably my least favourite of all commentators.

When I first started watching English commentary, I was watching Husky, and I found his commentary to be amusing, I find him to be kind of funny to listen to, and I admire his passion.

I don't care as much for him now that I have discovered Day9 though. Husky is amusing, and I love everything he does for e-sports, but to be completely honest he's incredibly unqualified for his position. It's fun and all for him to do silly games, and get all excited about asinine stuff, but people actually take his opinions seriously, like, Husky is NOT a progamer, he isn't even a borderline decent player, he's only platinum ( might be low diamond now) and it's kind of ridiculous that people will actually listen to his advice, and try to learn from him.

Where as Day9 IS a progamer, he is probably one of the most important voices in the SC community, he knows his stuff inside and out, Starcraft is pretty much his life. Also he's incredibly entertaining.

I don't mind psy, really I find a lot of his videos contribute a lot to the community, but I also don't think he's got enough experience as a player to really be commentating at a professional level.

But HD....I dunno, he's more experienced than Husky, but not as experienced as Day9. Watch a commentary by HD and count every sentence that ends in a question, or if you're really up to a challenge, try taking a drink every time and end up with a terrible hang over. The reason he does it so often, isn't so much a style thing, but rather, he actually doesn't know. He doesn't have the experience or knowledge to make proper analogical statements in his commentary. Where as you can see guys like Tasteless, Artosis, Day9 (the REALLY experienced players) call battles long before they even occur, just because they know their stuff.

Once again, I totally respect HD and everything he brings to E-sports and the community, but I just find he isn't overly entertaining like Husky, and he doesn't have the experience like Day9 to really grab my attention.

You asked for casters, not people who analyze the game. If you want analyzers then yeah HD and Husy and all them are gonna be pretty low on the totem pole.

Right, I asked for casters, but I feel like in order to properly cast the game you need to have knowledge and experience of the game, and therefor the more knowledge, the more experience, the better off you are for your casting.

Case point tasteless, artosis, day9 and incontrol.

When you have superb knowledge of the game, you can focus on particular parts of a match that are more detrimental to what's going on, and can overall sound a lot more professional in your commentary.

I just prefer Day9 as a commentator (even over say his brother or artosis) simply because I feel he is the perfect mix of humour, enthusiasm and experience.

I don't mind JP one bit, he's pretty solid and I think he and Day9 make an awesome team on mlg (I prefer the JPDay9 mix over the DJWheatDay9 mix)

I feel although DJWheat has more experience with casting games than JP, he doesn't have quite as much Starcraft or RTS experience to fully understand the game to the same level as JP.

raelcun is an unknown name to me.

Day9, I've enjoyed his commenting for a long while now. I liked his daily better in the BW days, but he's still good ^.^

DJWheat is referred to as the grand Daddy of e-sports casters.

But Starcaft 2 is his first RTS game, before he did things like counter strike and such. So JP has more experience in the specific game itself, but DJWheat is a more experienced caster overall.

HD is pretty good at commentating compared to Husky. Although he isnt as amusing as the others, atleast he knows what hes talking about. Husky on the other hand is very amusing and entertaining. He knows how to make people laugh. But I have to say that his commentating isn't as great as HD's and hes more like a Diamond Player than HD who clearly deserves to be Masters. So props to HD and Husky >:3 MY 2 fav commentators
