Official site: http://www.polysics.com

Bio taken from Soundgenerator:

Polysics, three mysterious characters, half animal, half machine, transported back through time from Neo Tokyo making music that will flatten cities, drain oceans and split atoms. So powerful is their music that on hearing it, normal people (i.e. you and I) have been known to believe the earth has moved, it has not, merely the sonic attack which is Polysics has shaken the Earth from it's elliptical orbit causing fissures in time and space. Believe!

This daring unit of three: Hayashi (Guitar, Voice, Programming), Kayo (Synthesiser, Vocoder, Voice) and Fumi (Bass, Voice, Synthesiser), the spiritual sons and daughters of Devo, forge their riveting music using conventional rock instruments, augmented by synthesiser, vocoder, and computer programming. Polysics claim their intentions are simply to create new music by unifying 'inflectional electronic sound that sticks and repeats itself in one's head' along with 'ultimately distorted guitar noise'. By default or design, the outcome of this fusion is enormously compelling. Music with the power to stop time.... then start it again in fast-forward.

The official story states that Polysics formed in 1997 in Tokyo, Japan when young Hayashi, out of respect to Devo, begins making sounds under the name Polysics. 1998 would see him enlist Kayo into the band. In 1999 the first Polysics album ('1st P') was released. Also this year the band's line-up was complete with the addition of Fumi on Bass. Inspired by their new recruit, the band wasted no time in recording and releasing their second album 'A,D,S,R,M'. The years since then have seen the band rise to a deserved level of fame and notoriety in their native Japan. In total they have released six albums, two mini albums, 1 live album and no less than 4 video/DVDs capturing their legendary live shows. Along the way there have been dramatic encounters with Mutato Muzika of Devo, three US tours and a collaboration with Nick Beggs of Kaja Goo Goo (on huge live favourite 'Kaja Kaja Goo') and even an appearance on Adam And Joe. Their image has changed consistently and their sound has mutated and grown with every release, it is as if with every record Polysics have further distilled the essence of punk and pop.

Anyone searching for hidden meanings should take heed, Hayashi himself says 'there is no hidden message in our music, we are more about big statements'. Consider for example the track 'Code 4' "every night, every time, every sky, every space, every town, every world, this song sounds good for you and me" or alternatively 'Modern' "I will sing you something cool, I will sing you something new, I will sing you something cool, I will sing you 1.2.3.GO!" Theirs is truly the sound of the young heart in the modern age.

I've heard pretty much all of their albums and there is something fantastic in each and every one of them. Newcomers should go for their latest, 'Polysics or Die!', a best-of album that effectively compiles all of their energy and musical styles into one disc. Other good gateway alternatives are 'Neu' and 'For Young Electric Pop.' But you can't go wrong with any of their albums, really.

Here are some songs I uploaded:

arrow Code 4 album: Polysics or Die!/For Young Electric Pop
arrow Kaja Kaja Guu album: Polysics or Die!/National P
arrow Go Ahead Now! album: Neu

The first album I purchased was Hey! Bob! My Friend! after downloading a few tracks from slsk and I LOVED it! I then purchased Neu and I liked that album a lot better than H!B!MF! I have their live DVD which was enjoyable and I fell in love with Kayo who I think is just magnificent. I want to hear all their albums so I'll try searching eBay for imports.

I found the live DVD on eBay so I'll probably buy it once I move to my dorm to avoid shipping complications.

It has the weirdest name though. Something like 'Pippkipipki.' That's ******** up.

I don't understand that. I guess it's something they've said before. Like in a song. I thought the live was pretty basic. The only thing that really kept me watching was seeing Kayo play. She's so awesome! I kinda wished they were more in costume aside from the visor.

I told CJ that Kayo looks like hide from the nose down. 3nodding

Me neither. I just hope it's at a venue that isn't 21+ and that is relatively close to Pittsburgh.

They'll probably play Polysics or Die! songs. Which I don't really mind. I hope they headline.

I love songs where Kayo sings often. Which is why I like Black Out Fall Out and Each Life Each End (Sputnikless Remix).

I should upload their cover of Spitz' 'Cherry' since Kayo sings the chorus and it's really cute!

Have you heard her solo EP?

If it's not in stores and CJ hasn't downloaded it (which she hasn't), I haven't heard it. I'll look for it on Amazon or something.
