 He crunched through the tall grasses, careful to keep from getting the course blades of dry grass from getting into his eyes as he passed through them. The sun was high in the sky, and his movements were stealthy, he had once been a powerful warrior, a high ranking chief in his prime and now he was solo.
Though, hunting always seemed to be his Achilles heel, he failed more often than naught but he always seemed to keep himself from starving and withering away, and since he was still rather muscular for his age, and his horrid hunting skills, he seemed to do alright.
His gaze was locked on the herd of prey-beast that were grazing, he slowly continued his crawl like movements forward.

Dark paws moved nimbly through the dull grass as the black predator crouched forward, her long tail curling and her emerald eyes narrowed on her target. The sun beamed bright and hot against her fur, but that was a minor detail compared to her needs for a meal. Not only for herself, but also for her pride members. Granted she'd have enough scraps to return with. Ugh, then she'd have to get them passed the pesky guards. Her ruff lifted as she growled lowly. The guards were almost more annoying than any hyena.
Curling her lip to mute herself and remain hidden, the lioness lurked further, taking each step slow and thoughtful. The gazelle just ahead were numerous, giving her both better and risky chances. So many ears to hear her...but so many skins for her to latch onto. Ibis flicked her ears forward and back...before another detail crossed her senses.
The smell of another lion, lurking somewhere in the same grass.
Again, Ibis growled as she investigated around her.

He didn't notice the new scent, his eyes focased on the gazelles that just seemed to be within reach, but as he drew closer, the new scent could no longer be ignored.
Now his focus was lost, his gaze continued to flick around wondering who was near by, the muscals in his frame bunched tightly together, once a warrior it was rather had to shift into anything else, always on alert for a sneak attack, he drew his head to the side as he glanced around.
Where was this keeper of the scent?

Her tail flicked to the side as she turned her direction to the other threat. It may scare away the food, but that wasn't something she was concerned over. After all, it'd be easier to catch her own food, rather than risk fighting over it with another threatening predator. So now was her only opportunity to lay her claim, and force the other feline away. If she could only find him.
Lifting her neck an inch, she peered through the grass with her narrowed eyes. Some gazelle looked in her direction, but hadn't focused on her form just yet. And that's when Ibis spotted him, another black lion just a few feet away. Her ears stood on alert, waiting to see who would make the first daring move.

His warrior skills, wouldnt let him continue with his hunt, he had to find the keeper of the scent that was now making his mind sharper on his other skills.
Sharp crimson eyes scanned around until they fell onto the dark coated lioness, images of cubs danced in his mind as he nodded his head and sat down.
He couldn't believe he was giving up such an easy kill, but if there were cubs to be fed she deserved it much more than he.
