Aksaja was hungry. This was rather a lamentable state for the lightning dragon, because right this moment he didn't really feel like going down to the kitchen to get some food, much less cook it. The homework for various classes was already giving him a headache, and he really didn't want to read some stupid book and write a report on it.
Flinging said book across the room with a frustrated growl, he folded arms over his chest and attempted to ignore the protests of his stomach. Maybe he could take a nap or something.
After a few moments, though, it became clear that that wouldn't work. Too hungry. Damn stomach. Grumbling to himself, Aksaja got up and plodded his way down to the kitchen. Maybe he'd just find some meat or something and bring it back to eat it raw. Some might find that 'gross' but it was how he ate in his full dragon form, so what was the difference, really? And it wouldn't require him to expend the energy to actually cook something.

Alessa had set herself up in the Monster dorm's kitchen again, ingredients spread out over the counter tops and the oven humming pleasantly to say it was on. She usually cooked in the home eek kitchen, actually, but today she had known she was making a small batch and she'd had all the supplies and well...it was convenient. Luckily the Monster dorm kitchen was pretty diverse in what it stocked, since it had such a wide variety of diets to serve should someone use it. Today she had gone about making a small mushroom and tomato casserole, completely vegetarian safe.
After setting the casserole in the oven she washed her hands and wiped the water on her baby-pink apron. She then went about washing the dishes she'd used. It was, after all, best to get things clean while she could...it could be a daunting task if she left it and the casserole would take a bit anyway. As she scrubbed, feeling the warm suds lather her skin, she began to hum a little bit, no song in particular really. She wasn't terribly musical, but it seemed she hummed more often than not when she was in the kitchen. It was probably something to do with her mood; it was always warmer when near a stove or oven it seemed.

As he neared the kitchen, however, it soon became clear that the space was currently . . . occupied. Aksaja paused, frowning slightly as he heard that humming. Hmn, well, he'd come here for food and he was going to get it, whether someone tried to chase him off or not. After all the rumors about boils being booted out of the kitchen . . . well. He was almost expecting it.
So when he poked his head in, he already had a winning sort of grin on his face - determined to perhaps charm whatever ghoul was in there so she wouldn't kick him out. Oh! It was that rabbit-ghoul! He remembered her from Christmas . . . "Hey," he called softly. "Smells good in here. What'cha making?" Sadly, it didn't actually smell like meat, which was his preferred diet, but hey. Any food was good. Maybe he could get her to share?

At the initial sound of a voice Alessa only cocked her head, her humming stopping, but not the smooth movement of her hands as she cleaned the bowl she was holding under the hot water. She was, after all, used to visitors...sometimes when she didn't need or want them, but she was used to them. She wasn't sure how all three of her good friends could be so terrible at cooking that she had to kick them out sometimes, but well, it was true. It was only when the took a small towel to dry the bowl off that she looked over her shoulder to see who it was.
She blinked at first, perhaps not out of initial recognition. It wasn't who she expected, but she certainly recognized him. She wasn't sure from where and she found she couldn't place a name. She held her tongue for a few heartbeats, looking contemplative, but finding no name she decided it was best to just answer his question. Maybe she'd been mistaken. "Tomato and mushroom casserole," she told him with a very warm smile, despite her small bout of confusion. She had a hard time keeping her mood down when she was making something.
Blinking in realization she asked suddenly, "Oh, I'm sorry, do you need the oven? I'll be done soon...just a few more minutes."

Aksaja moved fully into the room then, letting the door shut behind him. "Nah . . . I was planning to try and find something to eat, but I didn't really want to cook right now." The way he said that implied that he knew how to cook - not that he did, beyond the very basic things - but hey, it might make her like him more. He could hope.
"I remember seeing you on that Christmas trip," he said then, wings shifting a bit. "Name's Aksaja."

"It can be a big job," Alessa agreed, drying her hands on the towel and turning to face him, since the dishes were clean now. "I guess I just...love it too much to care about how long it takes." Maybe it was silly, but she didn't mind. But just like she wouldn't spend hours jogging or whatever other hobbies some students have, she knew many people didn't want to spend hours cooking either. That was alright, it meant less of what she made went to waste.
"Oh! I do remember seeing you," she admitted, though she looked a bit embarrassed a the fact that she didn't know him by name. "I'm Alessa." She wondered if he had seen her as the stupid, spontaneous transforming rabbit on that trip...oh well, there was no helping it now.
"Would you like some, Aksaja?" Alessa asked, gesturing at the oven. "Casserole, I mean. I can't eat it all myself. I was going to go pandering around the dorm when it was done, seeing who'd help me eat it." She usually had a few reliable ready mouths around, Ren, Gabe, and LW mostly, so food rarely got stale or cold, which was nice.

Oh whoa, she was actually offering him food now? Score! Better not act too terribly excited about this good fortune, though. Play it smooth, Aksaja. Smooth.
"Oh, are you sure? I mean, I wouldn't wanna eat something you were planning to give to someone else . . . " he said, frowning just slightly as if he were hesitant. Really, any food he didn't have to make himself was just fine with him - though he might have wished it wasn't all. Vegetarian. But hey. Take what you can get, man!

Alessa laughed, "I'd hardly call pandering planning. Really, have some! Oh, wait, I'll get some plates." She reached up, standing on the balls of her feet to reach the upper cabinets, taking out two white plates. She set them on the counter and then peeked through the small window into the oven.
"Hmm, looks about done," she said, flitting over to put on her oven mitts before opening it up and pulling the glass pan out. She set it on the stove, listening pleasantly to the hissing sound the freshly cooked cheese was making. She then took off the mitts, setting them to the side. She glanced back at Aksaja, "Once it's cool, I'll dish it out. Sound good?"

Aksaja nodded at that, offering the ghoul another quick smile. "Sounds good to me," he replied, leaning on that counter. Tilting head curiously, he watched as she leaned over - enjoying the view so to speak. Then he asked curiously, "So how long have you been going here?"

It was a good thing Alessa was rather oblivious; she wasn't one to appreciate 'admiring' glances, so to speak. Or she wouldn't be if she noticed them. Especially now that she had a boilfriend. She leaned forward against the counter, eying him curiously. She'd been so busy cooking she hadn't had the time to get a proper look at him before.
"How long?" She tilted her head a bit, seemingly trying to recall exactly how long it had been. Time had gone so fast here...in a good way. "Not too long, really, but I've settled in really well. It already feels more like home than any of my homes ever did. What about you?"

Aksaja tilted his head slightly at her comment about this place feeling more like home. He wasn't too sure about that one . . . though school was turning out to be a lot more fun than he'd thought it would be. And it was probably better to agree with her so they'd have 'something in common' and all that.
"Oh, yea I know what you mean. My parents back home totally didn't understand me."

She gave him a slightly sad smile, one of compassion and understanding. Or it was, based off of what he was saying. She didn't bother to consider he might be lying or even altering the facts a little. "One person understanding another...I think it's hard. Unfortunately parents are not exempt from that, it seems." She didn't mention anything about her parents, because honestly she didn't like dwelling on it. Her feelings about them were mixed. It would have been easier if she could say she outright disliked them, but that wasn't really it. They meant well, with what they did, so that didn't help either. So it was best to enjoy herself here, because it was the best home she'd had thus far.
"I'm glad you like it here, though," She offered with a bit of genuine cheer.

"Yea, being at school is . . . pretty different from what I thought it would be. All my parents told me was that they were sending me away to 'learn to be a proper dragon' or something like that." His expression twisted a little at that. Obviously, being 'proper' wasn't a favorite thing of his.
"But there's so many other different kinds of people here than just dragons, and sure, there are rules, but nothing like what I thought."
