This is pretty random, but I've noticed that Sum 41 and Blink-182 are always compared to each other and people act like they're exactly the same, I don't get why though, if you actually listened they're actually quiiiiite different. At least to me anyways

They're different to me to. When blink 182 separated from there old music, like as in maturing, they went on to just write different lyrics. Sum 41 got heavier. Maybe you can compare their old stuff to each other, but not the new stuff.

Xx_Yellowcard_Emmy96_xX Yeah like I Miss You compared to like Still Waiting or something, it's super different! Exactly. Try comparing The Bitter End by Sum 41 to Adam's Song by Blink 182. You're not gonna find much.

They only things they have that sound similar at all are blink-182's first two albums and Sum 41's first one. Blink-182 just stuck with pop-punk and added their personal touches from their side project, and Sum 41 experimented with heavier music before going back to a more refined pop-punk sound.

i dont get it either. i am a huge blink fan, and i like sum 41 too, and i think they sound nothing alike. blink was around in the early 90's when that type of music wasnt really that popular and i feel they kind of defined the whole pop-punk era. as blink got older and got a more mature sound, other bands started popping up such as sum 41 in the late 90's and early 2000's. i do agree with falowin on some of the albums sounding alike and it is true, lots of pop-punk bands sound alike which is why i like the genre so much because i like to figure out the distinct sounds of each band. sorry, im kind of just babbling.
