This is a Private RP between Impy Kun (Lance) and LollyxBeans (Kali, Faust)

Location: The local Fresh-Mart
PostPosted: Tue Jan 25, 2011 1:31 pm

Grocery shopping with a baby was hard. Grocery shopping with a baby who drew whispers, stares, and also tried to eat the cart you put him in?
A little bit worse than usual.

Kali groaned, exasperated as she turned away from the produce counter, staring at Faust. The little Munster froze in his attempt to gnaw his way through the cart's handle, looking up at his mum with what she supposed was a built in self defense mechanism. The 'puppy dog eyes'.

"Not a chance, bucko. We don't CHEW stuff! Ugh. And not filthy stuff like grocery carts! Or park equipment. And we don't bite PEOPLE." She still wasn't letting that one go; ever since the 'park incident' a week and a half ago, she had been sure to remind Faust that people were not for biting every chance she got. Zak said she sounded like a broken record, but he certainly changed his tune when Faust tried to snap his fingers one day. Then, he was in on the teaching kick too, and he had been doing a surprisingly good job of it. He hadn't hexed the baby once, which was a feat in itself.

Reluctantly, Faust pulled his mouth off of the handle, still giving his young mother 'the eyes'.
"No chew?" He asked sadly, kicking his legs.
"No chew." Kali confirmed, leaning over him to place the cucumber in the cart.
"Momma, teeth hurt..." He pouted, and Kali quickly dug around in the baby bag she had with her until she found the teething ring she'd enchanted for him. He destroyed normal ones; this one would regenerate if he managed to chew through the defense charm she had on it, and better yet, it was constantly frozen.
"Here you go, Baby. Chew on that..." She handed it to him and he immediately stuck it in his mouth, chewing happily; until Kali turned away.

Scowling, Faust looked down at the things in the cart. He didn't like it when his momma didn't look at him. Reaching down, he wiggled, until he could wrap his clawed hands around the cucumber, he picked it up, and looked back at his mom. Still, she was sifting around in the broccoli.
Well. It was her own fault.
Lifting the cucumber, he held it over the edge of the cart, and promptly dropped it on the floor. Kali heard it hit, and turned, heaving another sigh.

"Faust, knock it off, okay? We're almost done. Just sit still..." She picked the cucumber up and put it back in the cart, turning back to the broccoli.

Faust, of course, did not knock it off. He tossed the cucumber, and when she had placed it in the cart, the broccoli, all through the store. When they went down the aisles, he began to put things in the cart at random when his mother wasn't looking.

Needless to say, about five minutes later, Kali's patience was wearing very thin as she tried to pry a box of condoms out of Faust's hands. Why the hell were condoms next to band-aids, anyways?!
"Just...let...it...go!" She tugged, to no avail. Faust had a good grip on him, she found, and it often took a spell to get him to put things down.
"Faust! Put those BACK!"

Things had returned to a fairly normal routine throughout the past week and a half for Lance; he hadn't seen Kali again since that day in the park. After what had happened, he figured that he probably wouldn't see her again, and if he did, he assumed that she would probably avoid him like the plague - he imagine that MOST people would get awkward running into the guy whose leg their kid took a chunk out of. He still had the white scar from the bite, actually.

It was all she'd left behind when she'd taken off with Faust. He was still curious about how she'd managed to heal him like that - it shouldn't have been possible, and yet she'd done it! It didn't make any sense, really. Then again, a baby that could take a chunk out of your leg didn't make much sense either, but that had happened as well, so...yeah.
Lance's thoughts weren't on Kali today though - on this particular day, they were on finding a box of condoms and something that he could afford to eat with the leftover money. It was only upon turning into the aisle where said condoms were that he was reminded of that say in the park.

This may have been because there in the aisle was Kali, fighting with Faust to wrestle what looked like a box of condoms out of his hands. For a moment, he merely stared at the scene, a little surprised by the mere idea of it - before he finally broke out into a grin and sauntered up behind the redheaded girl. "I know you're supposed to make sure that your kids are informed, but isn't this starting a little early?" He couldn't help joking about it, really - it was just too tempting, not to mention priceless.

"Just...fork it..."
"I know you're supposed to make sure that your kids are informed, but isn't this starting a little early?"

The voice came from behind her, but there was no mistaking who it was. She begged, pleaded, and asked the goddess for it to not be him; why now? Again? Especially not while Faust had his claws thrust deep into the sides of the condom box!!!

Freezing, she turned, and; oh, great. The goddess had failed her.

Lance, the boy from the park, was standing and grinning at her.
Oh, goddess, strike her down where she stood; she was going to die anyways, of embarrassment. As if it wasn't bad enough that she had to see him again, especially after Faust had MAULED his leg, but now he caught her trying to wrestle CONDOMS out of her baby's claws.
It really couldn't get much worse.
(Well, it could, but she didn't want to think of how.)

The thing that confused her the most, however, was why he was smiling. The last time they'd met one another, he'd ended up bleeding out all over a park bench.
Not that this was weighing heavily on her mind, right then. Personally, she was wondering if she could crawl under the shelf and DIE.

"I...n-no! I was just...he was grabbing, and...I wanted bandaids!" Her cheeks were hot, and though she could not see them, she assumed they were the same shade as her hair; furiously red.
Miserably, she took a step away, as if he would stop being THERE, grinning at her, if she was a few inches away.
But, no. He was still there. And still the hottest guy that had spoken to her in a LONG time. Actually, the hottest guy she'd seen in a long ******** her life. ******** her demon child. Why couldn't he just behave like a normal child?

But, of course, he wouldn't behave. In fact, Faust chose this moment as an opportunity to pitch the box at Lance's face. She watched it fly by, not fast enough to stop it; but fast enough to think 'At least he let it go'.

Well, Lance couldn't say that he hadn't been expecting to get that reaction - he'd hoped that maybe the joke would keep her from looking TOO freaked out, but that plan had apparently backfired. The redheaded girl looked like she was far from being humored at this particular moment.
Oh, well. He'd TRIED.

"Kali, I was kidd-" The young man stopped as a blue coloured box flew at his head - he would have been hit if he hadn't reacted quickly, catching the brightly coloured package before it could smack him. He took a quick look at it and snickered for a moment before looking to the infant who had thrown the projectile at him. "Aw, thanks Faust - I was looking for these." Was it just him, or did that kid have it out for him? Was it just his imagation playing tricks on him? He really didn't know. Maybe Faust was just a s**t disturber kid - he'd been one himself, and hell, he STILL was one, so it wasn't like it was implausible.

"Now, as I was saying - I was kidding, Kali." Lance grinned as he leaned back against the shelves, tossing the box of condoms up and down in his hand. "How's it going? Other than, y'know, teaching your kid sex ed."
PostPosted: Thu Jan 27, 2011 5:12 pm

She didn't honestly see how he could find humor in this situation. Why was he talking to her?! Why wasn't he fleeing in the other direction???
He was impossibly suave, catching the sexual projectile and leaning against the shelf as if nothing bothered him. She turned and looked at her baby, who quieted slightly, raising his hands. He wanted up.

"No. No up for boys who don't listen." She said firmly. He pouted, with his big blue eyes, but she did not relent. Sighing, she turned around to Lance, offering an awkward smile.

"Kidding. Um. I knew that..." She laughed nervously, pushing hair back from her face and looking up at him shyly. Ugh, god. What was wrong with her? She felt more like Megg than herself. Awkwardly stammering and stuttering. Where was her confidence? Her sarcasm? Her coy, seductive smile?!

Gone, obviously. She blamed it on Faust. He was being quiet, though. Impossibly quiet. A brief glance told her that the baby was gnawing on his teething ring, paying no attention to her as if it would make her SORRY for ignoring him. She stared at him for a moment more, increasingly aware of the silence around them, but she had to be sure that he was sincerely unbothered by her having a conversation with Lance.
She had found, after the incident, that Faust got increasingly ornery when she was not looking at or paying attention to him. He seemed to do everything he could to get her attention back. Like biting whoever she was talking to. But, he was calm, and safely secured in the cart. Taking a breath, she turned back to Lance, offering him the smile that it seemed she had not lost after all.

"Oh, it's going. Glad he could help you with your...shopping list." Just the way she said the phrase let him know what she thought of it; that it was extremely questionable and suspicious, and probably nothing that good boys bought. There was something in her smile, maybe, that whispered of intrugue, but...it could also be a trick of the light.

"At least he's helping someone out. He's certainly not doing me any good. He's bound and determined to be a little MONSTER." She tossed Faust a look and poked his tummy, prompting giggles from the green haired boy. He squirmed and sucked on his teething ring, watching Lance for a moment, then returning to determinedly staring at the floor.

It was strange, seeing Kali so awkward - not that Lance knew the redheaded girl exceptionally well, but it was quite the change from how she'd been during their last meeting. She'd been so confident and coy before, so seeing her awkward and shy was...well, it was weird. Then again, he supposed that she had a reason to be. Most women probably WOULD be awkward after an encounter like their previous one.
Despite all that though, Kali seemed to hold her air of authority over Faust - she was a good Mom, all things considered. "Sure you did." Lance deposited the box of condoms that had been meant for his head into the shopping basket that he was carrying on his arm and chuckled - perhaps Kali had lost her confidence for the moment, but it seemed that Lance could provide more than enough for the both of them.
Confidence WAS on of his better qualities, after all.

"It's not a particularly long one, but hey, I'll take help anywhere that I can get it." he chuckled and pushed off from the shelving and shoved one hand into the pockets of his jeans. "You, on the other hand, look like you could use some help." That list of hers looked pretty long, and Lance didn't doubt that trying to do it while Faust was misbehaving was probably a challenge in itself.

"He wants your attention." That much was obvious, Lance found, and he shrugged a bit. "Maybe he'll behave if I help you out - I can get some of your stuff for you, and you can keep him from throwing too many more boxes of condoms." It seemed like a pretty good idea to him - distract the demanding kid while he helped to fill her cart with whatever was on that list.
Maybe this would get them back on good terms as well - he really was quite intrigued by her, despite what had happened a week and a half ago, and he still wanted to know what the hell she'd done to his leg. It was a two-for-one deal, really.
PostPosted: Sat Jan 29, 2011 10:29 am

Kali blinked, looking over at Lance, surprised. First he flirted with her, while she had a baby, and now he offered to help her too?
It was so surprising, she didn't answer for a few moments. Most guys didn't go near women with NORMAL children. But he...
Why?

She pursed her lips and eyed him over closely, wondering what it was that made him want to help. Surely it couldn't be anything bad...could it?
Dearly, she hoped not.
"I...would appreciate that. Thanks." She smiled at him, suddenly, plucking a pack of bandaids from the shelf and dropping them in the cart. "I might even be able to get out of here before it gets dark with two of us on the job." She laughed, and brushed hair out of her face to look at the list. "I still have to go get meat, baby food, diapers, canned stuff, crackers, cookies, toothpaste, laundry soap, fabric softener, toilet paper, and...feminine supplies. But I can get those." She grinned at him, a bit. "You're doing enough, without having to brave THAT aisle."
Honestly. He was helping a girl with her baby. He didn't need to go get her tampons too. That was just too much.

"Oh good. Even I'm not brave enough to go down there." And it was true - Lance may have been known for having a lot of sex, but feminine hygiene products definitely were not in his area of expertise. He was good for getting everything else though.
It didn't really take too long, honestly. Within 45 minutes, Lance had managed to help Kali gather all of the items on her list together. He would have tried to distract Faust for her as well, but the baby didn't really seem all too interested in him - the infant seemed to be more interested in trying to get Kali's attention, really. That, and Lance didn't really WANT to have another limb of his chomped on by the baby.

"That everything then?" he asked once they'd gone through cash and he'd heaved some of the bags up over his shoulder. "How're you getting this all home? Do you live nearby? Or do you have a car?" He didn't know where the hell it was that Kali lived, after all.
This were going smoothly, all things considered. He'd managed to get Kali off of her wagon-of-awkwardness, and they seemed to be talking a little more easily - hopefully, he could keep this up.
PostPosted: Sun Jan 30, 2011 6:59 pm

"I would be truly impressed if you were." Kali grinned at him, shaking her head.
Surprisingly, it took a relatively short amount of time for them to get all of the groceries done; a hell of a lot less time than it would have had he not helped her. And, Faust was in a much better mood, gurgling in the sling that she carried him in. She had a stroller, contained in an extra-dimensional pocket, but she figured it was probably a bad idea to whip that out right now.

"That's everything, yeah." She smiled at him, picking up what he didn't. "And no, I don't have a car, but my roommate should...pick me up outside, if I give him a call." It wouldn't take much for Zak to summon her, Faust, and the groceries.
"Ugh, I'd still be in there if it wasn't for you." She shook her head and set the bags down on a bench outside; it was beginning to get dark, but it wasn't cold, nor was it raining. She shot Lance a smile, looking down to find that Faust had worked himself to sleep with all of his worrying and acting up. It seemed waiting would be less of an issue than she'd thought; especially if Lance stayed a bit before she called Zak.

"I owe you one, Lance." She chuckled, shaking her head.

A male roommate? Lance hoped that roommate wasn't some kind of codename for 'boyfriend' for Kali - if it was, then she was off limits. The black-haired boy was well-known for being a pretty big sleeze, but he made a point of not sleeping around with women that he KNEW had boyfriends. His standards may have been low, but they were still there. "Do you need a cellphone or something? I have one, if you need it."

"Hey, it was no big." Lance grinned, leaning against the bench that Kali had set the groceries on. He paused for a moment, thinking about something, before locking his gaze on Kali. "Though...I am kind of curious as to what you did to fix my leg on that day in the park. I know that you told me not to tell anyone, but...I'd still kind of like to know what it was that you did." Lance's demeanor was fairly calm as he spoke - he didn't want to make her nervous. "If you really wanna pay me back, maybe you could just give me an explanation? If you're able to, anyway."
PostPosted: Mon Jan 31, 2011 10:32 am

Male roommate was certainly not code for boyfriend. Ugh. Had she known, she would have made that completely clear.
"No, I have my own. But thanks." She smiled at him, brushing a strand of Faust's bright green hair out of his face.
She paused as Lance brought up what she'd been hoping that he wouldn't, looking up at him. She was surprisingly calm, for someone who was so paranoid about being caught...
"It..." She trailed off, sighing. "It's complicated. I'm not sure you'd understand. Or if you'd believe me if I DID tell you." She laughed a bit. Most people wouldn't. They'd think she was crazy. Of course, he'd seen it first hand...

"How are you with dealing with the impossible, Lance?" She asked him, cocking her head to the side. "With...things you thought were fictional, but they really aren't...? Like...magic?" Perhaps she owed him, but did she owe him this much? She had healed him...
But that wasn't the point. She did owe him, regardless. He'd been so kind to her...

"You healed by leg in front of me by just sticking your fingers into the injury and making some bright lights." Lance raised an eyebrow at the young woman, setting the bags that he had down on the ground before folding his arms over in front of his chest. "I think it's safe to say that I'm going to have a fairly easy time believing whatever you say, regardless of how weird it might be." After all, what could really be weirder than what he'd seen a week-and-a-half ago? THAT had been pretty freaking weird!

"On a regular basis? I probably wouldn't do well." he admitted, watching the redheaded girl. "After that last bit though, I think I can handle pretty much anything that you throw at me..." He'd gotten over his shock from their last visit by this point, and he doubted that anything else she threw at him would shock him as much as the whole 'spontaneous healing' thing had.
PostPosted: Tue Feb 01, 2011 5:57 am

"Bet you couldn't..." She said quietly, watching his face. He was serious, though. It didn't seem to bother him. And he hadn't run away screaming, yet.

"It's magic. Like, Harry Potter ******** Merlin magic." She held out one hand to him, a burst of vibrant green light coming to life across her palm. "A sort of life energy that some of us can call forth. Like a different type of breathing. It can be manipulated, or in your case, given to someone else. Because it's a life energy, it's primary function is healing. It goes there easiest, even if it's for someone else. You just need a catalyst...which is either the spell, or in your case, my fingers..." She trailed off, letting the sparks dance across her fingers, arcing from tip to tip. A few moments later, she let them fade, her hand dropping back to her side.

She'd told him the truth; as simple a version as she could give. Now she just had to wait and see if he would run screaming in the other direction.

Admittedly, Lance stared as Kali summoned forth the 'magic', letting dance across her palm. Honestly, he believed that he had a right to - weird experience or not, this was some pretty strange s**t. He was still, honestly, trying to wrap his head around the whole glowing-healing-dealie.

In his defense, however, he still felt that he was taking it rather well. He was not, in fact, running away or screaming, or flailing, or anything like that. In fact, if he was freaking out at all in his head, he was doing a very good job of hiding that fact. "Alright....considering what you did before, that's not TOO hard to believe..." That wasn't to say that it wasn't still really freaking weird, because it was, but hey, he still wasn't flipping his s**t or anything. "Do...many people know about this stuff?" he asked after a few moments of thought as Kali sent the little green light away again. "Do you go to some 'magical school of witchcraft and wizardry'?" Humor. Humor was always a good thing, right?
