Devlin was lost in a forest of toys, blankets, and baby clothes. Quite literally lost, but not so literal when it came to the forest. He was pushing a metal contraption the person who'd given it to him had called a 'cart'. His infant was in the seat the elf had been instructed on how to put the impling in; though he still wasn't quite sure about this. Shopping seemed like a great big hassle. How did anyone do this on a regular basis? There were so many things to buy--and so many people!

Elijah seemed to be taking delight in everything. Every bright color, every new sight, every sound. The baby gurgled and gave a toothless smile at his father. This was wonderful! This was exciting!

His tiny arms waved as Devlin pushed his cart through the clothing aisle. It was clear the elf was pondering what his baby would like to wear. "Well, Elijah? What do you think?"

Marcus felt as though he had just been to place yesterday... which was actually the truth, he had been here yesterday... but then Iole arrived sooner then he'd hoped for and he found himself rather uncertain about where he stood where supplies were concerned. Not to mention that he needed a lot more clothing for the little monster in his arms or else he'd be stuck doing laundry daily.

"This really is Hell." He told Iole, giving him a bit of a smile. He was pretty sure he shouldn't be cursing around the kid or else he might pick up his colorful language but he couldn't quite say that he cared to terribly much. If his kid went around cursing and teaching said words to other kids he would... well he would laugh, "Alright, we are going to try to get through his rainbow colored torture chamber and you better appreciate everything I buy for you brat."

Iole gazed up at him with that same stare that he always used, that same happy smile, and he got the feeling he could say anything to him at all and he would likely be happy. It was like talking to a dog... so long as you used a happy tone they were happy.Marcus lifted the kid up to drape him over his shoulder as he reached out to pick something up, looking the color over, then the price, lifting an eyebrow, "How... how does a shirt for you cost the same a shirt or me?" He asked of Iole, as though the kid would know.

The answer he got was a bubbling, happy sound before his tail wrapped around Marcus's neck and his hands held onto the back of the man's shirt, before he set to happily kicking his feet, and twitching his ears. He didn't know what Marcus was up to since he was looking in the opposite direction, but he was still happy regardless, babbling to himself.

"That isn't the kind of language you want to be using around children," a cheerful voice came from behind Marcus as Devlin pulled his cart over beside the other man. The elf's pointed ears twitched, but there was no sign that he was acting at all humorously. "Who knows what his first words will be? Don't you know the importance of building a strong self esteem? Calling babies brats even at this age may scar them forever and they'll have to go to a mental instution!"

Clearly, Devlin had been reading books about childhood pyscology; though the elf didn't seem to have understood half the stuff he had read.

Elijah on the other hand, didn't seem to mind such words. "Ell!" He gave a happy giggle, oblivious to his father's groan.

"Now see what you've done."

Instantly Marcus was unimpressed with the man standing in front of him that seemed to be quoting books at him. He starred at him for a moment, then snorted, "This one is mine raise and mentally scar if I so wish it." He said, patting his kid on the back before he gave a bit of a smirk hearing not his kid but the other one trying to mimic his earlier cursing, "Heh, it seems yours is the more impressionable of the pair."

He shifted the boy from his shoulder and into one arm so that he could see the other kid, "And kid, it has an 'H' in it, Hell, not Ell." He told Elijah in a helpful manner before he grinned, feeling quite happy with himself, "Now... are we going to be able to be civil now, Sir?" He asked of Devlin, starring at him in a curious manner. The last thing that he really wanted was to start a war in the middle of a baby goods store as it would likely get him banned from the place which meant finding a new shop to pick things up for that Iole would find himself in need of.

Iole looked up at his father for a moment, grinned, then looked back to Elijah, waving his hands at him, reaching out toward the other boy but couldn't quite reach... which had his tail lashing behind him rapidly, "Ahh... Ahh..." He murmured, reaching out as far as possible... but still no luck, his arms just seemed to short.

Devlin frowned and inwardly winced at the man's words. Was he trying to teach his son to swear? Didn't the man know how irresponsible that was? How evil and mean and--all those other words humans used to describe people like Marcus?

The infant impling gave a happy giggle at being corrected, oblivious to the word's meaning and to his father's unhappiness."H-h-hell!"

"Elijah, don't say things like that. It's not nice." He ruffled the infant's hair before turning his attention back to Marcus. "I have been nothing but civil," he said. "But if you'd like to be friends, my name's Devlin. What's yours? And your baby's name? Maybe they can be friends." All irritation with the man seemed to fade from the elf's face as he spoke, and a blinding smile took it's place. "Nice to meet you."

Elijah reached out his hands to the other impling and cooed. He wiggled in his seat, trying to get close enough to touch. "Ne!"

Marcus couldn't help it, laughing as the other boy seemed to catch on quite quickly... pretty impressive really. He gave a chuckle as he shifted Iole's slight weight in his arms, "Good job, kid." He praised Elijah in a none to helpful manner before his attention went to the one that was speaking to him, "Devilin is it?" And the kid's name was Elijah he learned from the man's words. He gave a smile and a nod of his head, "My name is Marcus and this is Iole."

He found it funny that the guy was saying it was good to meet him when he knew that it wasn't most likely. He wasn't terribly good with people, especially those that greeted him by scolding him and telling him he was doing something wrong, even if it was true it wasn't something Marcus much liked. As such he'd sort of... retaliated instinctively. He needed to try to fix that reaction he thought to himself before giving his best smile, "Its nice to meet you as well." He said in the kindest voice he could muster before looking down at the two that were reaching out for each other and he leaned in closer to allow Iole to get closer to the other baby.

That seat Elijah was in, it looked like something he could use he thought to himself, giving a slow nod as he added it to the list of things he needed to buy today along with a growing list of other items.

Once closer Iole reached out with his tail to poke at the other boy, finding it nice that the two of them seemed quite similar. Their coloration was different, their tails were ended in a different manner, but aside from that they were quite similar, weren't they? Cool! The boy clapped his hands before reaching out to Elijah again, "Ahh!" This was fun! Even if he wasn't close enough to touch him aside from with his tail it was still fun!

Devlin frowned at the praise the man gave his son. Swear words were definitely not something a child should be praised for. "I'll thank you for not teaching him such things," he said in a pleasant, calm manner. Though if the other man continued to do so, he might not find Devlin to be the nicest of people.

"Marcus, is it?" Devlin seemed to have trouble with the name. "Iole's adorable. Did he come from a vial too? I suppose you met the not-very nice man with the blonde hair? Nigel's nicer. I liked him." Realizing that he was rambling, the elf stopped short and smiled at the man. "Would you like some help? I don't know much about this world yet, but... I've learned from experience what Elijah needs, at least."

This one seemed to be rather... chatty, wasn't he? He listened to what he was saying before his body tensed up a bit at the mention of the blond that he'd met some time ago. Yeah, he recalled that man, one that just rubbed him the wrong way instantly and made him want to deal with him in a way that only Marcus would know how. Instead of saying as he much he merely gave a nod of his head, "I am aware of the blond, yes." He said, not a fan of that guy from the first and found his methods a touch odd.

He blinked a couple times, "Help?" He asked, wondering what the man meant, then it was made clear when he spoke of his own son. Ahh, so he was offering help in showing for what it was that was needed to raise a child. He supposed that taking the man up on his offer wasn't a bad thing. He could take him up on his offer, it would help him get done with shopping sooner, then he and Iole could get home that much quicker. He'd rather be home then here that was for certain, "Alright, help would be appreciated."

It would give Iole more time to interact with his little friend which would also be good for him. Since the pair didn't get out much it left Iole unable to play with those his own age often which was a shame. While he wasn't social he did want his son to have some friends. Even now he was reaching and grasping at the other child, wanting to play with him.
