Orithia was in high spirits lately. With her role as second alpha coming into full swing each day brought new challenges and new duties for her to oversee. Of course right now mother was there to see her through them and ensure that she learned everything she needed to. The fact that she had been groomed from birth for this role did not mean she was fully prepared for it. There was still so much to learn, yet she had time to do so.

And thanks to her recent accidental trip to YMCA Orithia was feeling refreshed and more ready than ever to take on the challenges of leadership. Today, at this very moment she was free to do as she pleased, though later in the afternoon there was a meeting with mother and Varia to discuss current training strategies and how to possibly improve them. Not to mention she still needed to attend the training sessions as well. It was a lot of deal with some days but she rather liked the challenge it posed. Just imagine how dull life would be if there weren't all these activities to keep busy with.

Trotting through the forest Orithia enjoyed the somewhat warm day, though there was a distinctive chill that was growing as clouds covered the sun and a wind picked up.

Enyo was not finding things lately to be to her liking - her wretched sister had recently been dubbed the second Alpha. It would have been better if she had just died as a pup like any other weak creature. It didn't seem like that was going to happen however and Enyo had begun to plot and scheme and train oh so hard to make those new dreams a reality.

and now it looked like she might just have the chance to kick everything off - Orithia, weak creature that she was was trotting along towards her without a care in the world. As her sister drew closer Enyo wandered out of the trees to tand on the path in front of her a smug look on her face. 'Hello dearest sister.."

Orithia was quick to bring her paws to a stop when Enyo emerged up ahead. Of all her siblings Orithia liked Enyo the least, but only because Enyo seemed to have it out for her - and just for the reason that Orithia was the heir and she wasn't. Well there wasn't much Enyo could do about that now, the pack had accepted her and that was all that truly mattered.

"Enyo." Orithia said cautiously, eying her sister critically. Something in the pit of her stomach told Orithia that something bad was going to happen, she just didn't know exactly what. "What are you doing out here?" Not that Enyo wasn't allowed to roam about the pack lands when there wasn't training or other duties to attend too, but she seemed to have been out here for the strict purpose of finding Orithia.

"What...I'm not allowed to walk on this land now? Is it all yours now that your supposedly the Alpha?" Enyo questioned with no small amount of spite in her voice as she stalked a few steps closer. Look at her sister.. skidding to a halt and cowering there on the pathway with all the guts of a squirrel. It was sad..it was pathetic.

It wasn't good enough for the Pack. "But we both know thats a mistake don't we Orithia? Your a runt..sickly..weak, you'll never be able to hold this pack together properly..so I'm going to do you a favor..and put you out of your misery." She paused to let her words sink in before uttering the word Enyo just knew Orithia must had guessed was coming by this point "Orithia I officially challenge you for your title"

Orithia remained calm and unmoving as Enyo lashed out with as many insults as she could muster. Really, it disappointed her greatly that her sister was so unhappy with how things had turned out. It's like it was Orithia's fault that she had been born first. And even though she had seen this coming for quite some time Orithia was shocked to hear her sister utter the official challenge. Was it to truly come to this? The challenge was a fight to the death, the victor receiving the title and the loser, well the loser would be left dead on the ground.

Eyes narrowed as she looked upon Enyo. There was no backing down from this challenge, doing that would forfeit her title automatically to Enyo and she would never let that happen. The only way she would hand over the title to her sister was by losing the challenge. "Challenge accepted. We fight to the death." She reminded her sister, not that Enyo would have likely forgotten such an important detail. Orithia remained where she was, while she could have made the first move yet she chose not to as a test to see if Enyo had been bluffing in hopes that she would decline the challenge and hand over her title.

"Which seems to me something that's been stalking you for quite some time now." She remarked with a smug look - Enyo was much larger then her runt of a sister, she'd trained more because she was never sick to miss lessons and she wanted this...wanted it more then anything else she could fathom. Wanting something she had been told went a long ways towards your ability to get it...want something bad enough and by the god you will find a way to get it.

Enyo had found her way - she would kill her sister and take it. It was supposed to have been hers anyways. "You should have died a long time ago - mother should have let you die rather then coddle you along. I don't know what she was thinking raising you as an heir...having you as an Alpha will ruin the pack" She snapped "And your not even smart enough to realize it and step down like you should have" She ranted on - a part of her had always thought Orithia might..jut might step down willingly but as that didn't seem to be the case..well...so be it.

Enyo didn't waste any more time, ears flattened against her skull and fur bristling with all the fury she had harbored over the months for her sister Enyo sudden;y lunged forward fangs carving a deadly path through the air as she snapped at her sisters throat.

Again Enyo decided to spout out angry words, perhaps in hopes of deterring Orithia from actually fighting. Well sorry sister, she thought, but words don't scare me. Words, she could easily psuh away, ignore or in some cases turn against the speaker. She could easily use her diplomatic powers and turn nearly everything Enyo had said back against her, but Enyo would see that as another weakness, where Orithia knew it was a skill and one that could not be learned in the fighting ring.

Where Enyo had more strength and likely more skill, those were only two items in a battle that needed much more. Orithia because of her small size had extra speed, agility and wits were on her side. And she would use them fully to her advantage.

That small flick of Enyo's ears told her the attack was coming now. Small movements like that only gave one away, clearly Enyo had not learned to control such actions. She saw fangs flash before her and was quick to twist her body out of the way. Speed, agility and quick thinking, that would be her saving grace in this fight. Still she felt the rush of air as her sisters jaws snapped only a few mere inches away from here, and then she was gone. Orithia's small size allowed her to actually slip under her sisters body and then spun around, teeth aimed at Enyo's tender and exposed flank. At the same time she attacked with her claws, aiming for Enyo's ribs and back leg. This was not the time to hold back even if she wished she could.

Enyo was not surprised a her sisters speed, anything a small as her would be slippery as a weasel she was sure..but all she had to do was keep her sister moving, wearing her down so that her sickly little body couldn't keep up any more. Enyo was sure that her stamina surpassed that of her sisters by a great deal.

As Orithia ducked underneth her Enyo landed and spun her sisters jaws clipping shut on thin air and while one of her forelegs managed to rake across Enyos flesh her movements meant she caught it across her thickly furred chest where it did far less damage then it would have had it hit her ribs. Enyo targeted her sisters second paw, lunging her head forward in an attempt to catch..and then crush said foreleg in her powerful jaws. Crippling her sister would work just as well as tiring her out.

So far things were going fairly decently as far as the fight was concerned. She had remained uninjured so far, which against a large and stronger opponent was a good thing, even if she did have speed and agility on her side. Of course there was one big disadvantage that she had, and that was her lack of stamina. Orithia knew if the fight lasted for too long she would become too tried to keep fighting. Yes, she was stronger now than she had been as a pup, but she was still weak. Enyo would know of this weakness and try to use it against her.

The only thing Orithia could hope for was a great deal of luck with the outcome of the fight, she could not run away for that would forfeit her title and pass it on to Enyo so she had to keep fighting. Though her claws had not hit their mark she was satisfied to know that she had gotten the first hit in and that had to irk Enyo. Of course Enyo was quick to retaliate and Orithia only just managed to get her paw out of the way of her sisters snapping jaws. Feeling the rush of air on her paw reminded Orithia this was no mere training duel but a fight for title and life. Using her speed and agility Orithia moved back a bit and then attempted to circle around behind Enyo. Then she lashed out with her claws again, aiming for the sensitive flanks once more.

Enyo might be larger and lower then her sister but that didn't mean she was slow for a wolf and while her sister dodged her strike and then circled around to try and hit her flank again Enyo decided to take advantage of her sisters speed - the thing about speed was that while you might strike fast you also had to commit more to your attack..striking fast meant you had less time to change your mind or redirect an attack when it turned out to be less then wise on your part.

With that thought in mind Enyo waited until the very last second, giving her sister the illusion of a sure strike before whirling about and snapping out at those reaching front legs. Breaking one of her sisters legs was a thought that cause Enyo to mentally smile - just a little bit.

Orithia realized her mistake and yet there was not much she could do about it. Speed did have it's disadvantages but like slower attacks did. So when she saw Enyo turning around to aim for her legs there was little time to think and even less time to react. She knew that trying to pull her legs out of the way would not work, so she did the only other thing available to her at this time. Pushing off with her back legs Orithia propelled herself forward just in time for Enyo's teeth to sink into her shoulder instead of her legs. It was not a perfect trade off, but shoulder's were much stronger and harder to hold on to and damage than legs were so she made the sacrifice and accepted the injury. While she was at it, and Enyo teeth were sank into her flesh Orithia aimed her own teeth for the back of Enyo's neck, with was now within reach, thanks to her leg saving move.

Enyo was in bliss..sure wonderful bliss as her fangs sank deep into her sister's shoulder, it was not the broken leg she had hoped for but blood was blood and she worked her jaws and shook her head to cause as much damage as she could. Her siter of course sought to latch onto the back of her neck but Enyo wasn't to bothered by this..her sister was small and the back of her neck was protected by a good bit of thick winter ruff - it was unlikely she'd be able to get an actual killing bite there without a whole lot of work.

And Enyo wasn't about to just stand around and let her work at it. She did as much damage as she could to her sister shoulder - seeking to cripple the leg effectively for the rest of the fight before she felt her sisters fangs actually start to hit home, then she let go and reared up on her hindlegs dragging her sister with her while she snarled and sought to gain a grip on Orithia's throat.

The move probably would have worked too - Enyo was close..so very close to getting a good shot at her sisters beating pulse when a misplaced step had her stepping on a stick...which rolled out from under her and sent her crashing over backwards to the ground with a surprised yelp.

It took every ounce of strength to not cry out in pain as Enyo ripped apart her shoulder. Even so the wound was not as severe as the the one to her leg could have been had she not moved when she did. At least she found purchase on her sisters thick furred neck and felt her teeth sink into the flesh. Enyo of course was quick to retaliate for this and the act of rising onto her back paws pushed Orithia up as well, she lost her grip on Enyo's neck and saw Enyo's teeth aimed for her own neck. Before she had a chance to move Enyo suddenly fell backwards and let out a yelp.

Had this been a training session she would have allowed her sister to get up, gain her barrings again before making her next move. But this was a royal challenge, a fight to the death, so she could not afford such a mistake. Never back down, never surrender. These words echoed in her skull, something that had been said to her countless times in training and by her mother. Orithia lunged forward, landing down on all four paws, ignoring the pain that flared from her shoulder she moved atop of Enyo before her sister could move. Enyo was in an extremely prone position, and while she could have decided to go for her legs or some other part Orithia sent her teeth at her sister's throat. While the back of the neck was protected by thick winter fur, the throat remained relatively unprotected, allowing her to get a hold of it and bit down hard.

No! This simply couldn't be happening! Up until this moment things had been going along just swell and she'd come within a hairsbreadth of dispatching her sister forever...and now? Now all that was over.

Her sister had pounced before she had a chance to gain her feet, her speed no doubt helped by the momentum of coming down from their stint in the air. Enyo's eyes glittered in anger as her sister landed atop her - the spatters of her blood from the shoulder wound were some comfort..but certainly not enough to make up for this dreadful turn of events.

The hatred in her eyes was short lived however as her sisters fangs caught her throat and Enyo's eyes dilated in fear, survival instinct taking over she wheezed and gasped and scrabbled with her paws for any sort of purchase that could help her get away. The challenge had seemed like such a good idea..been such a sure thing and now....she was going to die for it.

Ignoring Enyo's flailing, Orithia kept her teeth tight upon her sisters throat. She could hear Enyo struggling to breath and knew it would take only a few moments longer to end her life. The process could be sped up of course and Orithia tightened her grip putting more force upon her sisters throat. A loud growl echoed in her throat and then a moment later she began to release her grip. She knew she had held on long enough and tight enough that Enyo would not be able to get up or do much of anything other than struggling to breath for several moments.

When she finally fully released hold of Enyo's throat Orithia stood up straight and stared down at her sister. "I let you live." She stated in an authoritative voice. "But only so that you carry the shame of being denied a warriors death, losing this fight and not attaining what you have wanted all your life. You are a disgrace, but you are also my sister." She took a step back, allowing Enyo room to move if she so chose to. "Remember your place sister I am your future Queen, and you will respect me properly or I will make certain that next time you pay with your life."
