General
-----------------------------------
  • Why doesn't this one module do anything? It doesn't even have any options.

Some modules create a new tab. To see this tab, you must enable the module and then refresh the page. Open the GES Settings window again and you should find the new tab.

Better Ignore
-----------------------------------

  • What is this "locally stored ignore list" and why do I need it?

The locally stored ignore list is a copy of your ignore list that GES uses. It's necessary because if it were to fetch your ignore list from the server every time it was needed, the module would run very slowly, and Gaia would ban you for botting.

So, for Better Ignore to work, you have to update the list. Once you have, future updates should be fairly minimal. Better Ignore also includes functionality to make ignoring users in the forums easier, and this feature also adds the user to GES's copy of the list. However, if you ignore a user by any other means, you will have to manually update the copy.

Thread Highlighter
-----------------------------------

  • What is this "locally stored friend list" and why do I need it?

Same reasoning as for Better Ignore. Read post above this one.

  • What does the "Highlight Limit" represent?

The Highlight Limit is the upper, noninclusive limit for highlighting threads. In other words, if you make the limit 5, any threads with less than 5 replies will be highlighted. This is strictly less than; if you want threads with 5 replies to also be highlighted, make the limit 6. If you want only empty threads highlighted, make it 0. And as noted, 0 disables the feature.

Thread Filter
-----------------------------------

  • What is the "Reply display limit"?

Threads with more than this number of replies will be hidden.

  • What is the "Forums to Filter" option? Why is the default 23?

This is a list of forum IDs on which to run the filters. 23 is the Chatterbox's ID. The GD's is 2. If you want to add more forums to the list, you can find the forum's ID in the url of the forum; it's /f.#/. Separate numbers with commas: 23,2

  • What is this "Advanced Mode"?

This gives you more control over the filters. With advanced mode turned on, each filter is interpreted as a regular [removed](which I attempt to explain here).

With advanced mode off, it only matches each line, by itself. So if you wanted to filter threads about regs, you'd probably want to include "reg" AND "regs". This is done to avoid accidentally filtering words that just contain the string; if it just matched the string anywhere, reg would also filter threads with "caregiver" in the title.

Autodiver
-----------------------------------

  • What is this?

Something the mods requested I remove.

QuickSell
-----------------------------------

  • Why does this need my password? Are you trying to steal it?

You need to enter your password to confirm a sale on the marketplace. I'm not trying to steal it. If you don't believe me, you can check the source code (it's easily viewable on userscripts.org), or just not use this module.

Account Switcher
-----------------------------------

  • I enabled this and now there's a drop down box with nothing in it. How does it work?

Re-open GES and you'll see a new tab called "Accounts". This is where you can add accounts to that dropdown box.
