The sun shone down through the trees and made lovely sparkles in the snow that crunched under his feet. Normally he wouldn't notice such trivial things as shimmering snow crystals but he was in such a good mood that morning. He had volunteered to do scouting duty for the herd that morning and being out on his own in the beautiful sunlight had really brightened his spirits. His companion Saber was at his side as he always was, though it was sometimes hard to tell, because he was often quiet and his large feline paws hardly made any sound in the snow. The two of them had almost completed the rounds of the herd's territory but he was in no rush to return to the herd where some other duty would surely await him. He liked it out here where he could hear his own thoughts and not be disturbed. He wasn't worried about running into any intruders because the herd's territory was so remote in the mountains, rarely did another soquili pass this way.
