Karloff woke up, curled next to Ailbhe. He nuzzled her lightly. It was amazing how his life could change in so little time. He had went from believing he was a monster, to finding that maybe he could be redeemed. It was because of her, and her only that he was this way. Simply, with a small kiss she had helped assauge things that had tormented him all his life. She loved him, and that was helping to heal him. He shook his mane out, and began to clean his paws as he watched her sleep.

Ail was still half-asleep when she felt her beloved Karloff kiss her gently. She smiled and snuggled closer to him sleepily, flicking her feline tail around behind him as if to hold him close.
"Morning, Karl," she murmured, not entirely ready to wake up, no matter how good the view would be or how wonderful it would be to spend more time with Karl. Ail was most definitely not a morning person.
She cracked one sapphire eye open, winced at the brightness of the world, and slammed the eye shut again, trying to persuade herself it wasn't really a reasonable hour to be awake. Besides, cats were nocturnal, right? And since she was a Cheshire cat, she was not morally obligated to wake up much before noon. The world still looking pre-noon, she didn't have to wake up, and she was totally within her rights to curl up and go back to sleep. Which she promptly attempted to do.

Karloff watched her sleepy actions as she spoke to him gently. He loved the way she said his name, leaving off the macabre sound of it. Nosing her insistently, he smirked. "It's no time for sleeping."
When he was younger, and the fear of Skah wasn't present in his mind, he use to sleep longer. With no fear. By finding out the name, he slept better again. But not today, not in the open...not with her sighing so beautifully beside him. He was keen to not be along, he didn't want to miss a moment of her company.
His normal patience wasn't exactly prevalent as he tried to wake her up, letting out a low purr in her ear.

Ail snuggled closer, enjoying the purr and attempting to consider the purr a seductive lullaby. It wasn't working. "It's before noon, right? We still have the whole day and the night ahead of us," she purred back.
The fact that her eyes were less and less heavy was not a point in her favor toward napping all day. The purring in her ear was somewhat exciting, definitely preventing her from sleeping much longer. Since it looked like she wasn't going back to sleep, she still attempted to maintain her personal fiction that she could sleep til noon.

Karloff purred louder as she snuggled closer to him. He liked the soft purr that resonated back from her. It assured him that for once, he had done something right with his life. She was his, and she was here. She wasn't running.
He nosed her again, "Yes, it's before noon, but we have forever ahead of us, Ailbhe. But that doesn't mean, I don't want to spend this morning with you." He licked her muzzle gently, then kissed her nose.

Ail giggled, finally unable to give up on sleep. She definitely liked his kisses, and if he was going to kiss her, there was no way she was going to be able to sleep.
"All right! You win! I'm awake. Sooo..." she said, curling a feline tail around her beloved mate. "What did you have in mind for today? It does look nice out there."

He purred as she snuggled him more. "I was thinking..." He could feel his face turning quite crimson. "Maybe we should find somewhere....more permanent for us. You know...plan for..." His face was really hot now. "You know the future....and stuff." He shied when it came to the word "kittens".

Ail looked up at him with a smile. "That sounds like a good idea. Did you have an idea of where to start looking?" She slowly opened her eyes and tossed her mane carefully to not disrupt her hairstyle, stretching her neck to get the kinks out. Legs would come later, and her tail was already feeling a bit looser, though stretching wouldn't go amiss, so she stretched that, too.
As she did this, she thought about what he'd said. He hadn't said it, but it was clearly on his mind. Kittens. Little ones to play with and teach to hunt and be a proper Cheshire cat. The thought excited her and made her also want to find a nice, safe haven to do all of that in. Where was good...caves. Big cats lived in caves, and if they added a lot of tree boughs and ferns, maybe pilfered some blankets and such from two-leggers or something, it could be quite cozy.
The more she thought about it, the more she liked it. "Know of any good caves?" she asked kittenishly, glancing up at his red eyes from beneath her lashes. "I think a spruced up cave would be nice.

"Hmmm," he enjoyed the way she stretched. He loved lazy mornings with her as she would purr against him and refuse to wake up. He hadn't had to tell her his desire for a family, but he thought she understood.
For a moment, his heart stopped at the mention of the word cave. That's where it had happened so long ago. But caves were safe...safer than the open. More secure than this place. "Yes, a cave would be nice..." He nudged her cheek with his nose gently. "But, I don't want you to ever be alone there--" His voice failed for a moment, "...my mothers. She...was alone."

Ail looked up at him, surprised and saddened at his reference to his mother. He was an orphan, and Ail had had the good fortune to know both her parents, though they lived apart from each other, with their respective true loves. It hadn't made it exactly easy for Ail and her brother and sister, but while their mother raised them, their father snuck in visits when their mother's back had been turned. For the three kittens, it had been an...amicable...solution. Not perfect, but still, happy enough.
Karl had had a really painful childhood, filled with suffering and loss. Ail had been the one true bright spot in his life, and she had no intention of letting him suffer again. For that...well...her father relied on his mountain lion friend Chessire when push came to shove...maybe an animal friend could help them?
Ail smiled as she pondered the thought. She had no idea what they'd get, but animal friends would take the burden off them. And if they could find a cave near the rest of Ail's mother's family...which was large and always looked out for each other...it could work out very nicely. "We can start looking for someplace near my mother's side of the family. There's a lot of them and they'll always be happy to keep an eye out for loved ones. We can also make friends with some animals or something. My father had a mountain lion friend who helped him a lot when things got tough." She lifted her blue eyes up to his, hope brimming in them.

Karloff looked into Ailbhe's pure blue eyes. They were so deep, endless as the sky--endless as his love for her. He purred softly as he brushed his cheek against hers. "That would...be good." He spoke tentatively. He hadn't met most of them, not yet anyways. He could certainly earn some points (and safety) by moving closer to them.
He purred into her ear, "I think we should, as long as they don't mind my prescene." His red eyes met hers, a little concerned. He'd never really had family...so he didn't know what they'd think of him. The closest person to him besides for Ailbhe was Solienna and Haxan who he'd promised to meet with again. What would they think of him though? He was a kalona, but he was as close to family as he had besides Solienna.
Though Diavolous would be safe, which was well as he was slightly...paranoid about safety. Maybe they could find something more fierce to bond with with Ailbhe. "We should befriend a bear...or something, to help keep you safe."

Ail smiled brightly. "Don't worry, they'll love you. After all, you're family and you love me. Besides, how can they not love you if they love me, my sister, and my brother, since all three of us have feline features from our father, my sister has glowing eyes, and I have fangs?" Ironically for someone as tricksy and childlike as Ail, Ail could be extremely logical. It made no sense, but that was just the way she was: as mysterious and inscrutable at times as a cat.
As for the bear...she laughed a little, warmly. "We'll see what we find, OK? If I run into a bear or a wolf or a mountain lion, I'll befriend it, and if I befriend something else...well...I can always learn self-defense from my family members. There are a lot of Soquili in my mother's family who can fight, which will make us doubly safe," she added with a soothing purr.
Standing up, she stretched her graceful legs, loosening herself up and moving with an almost feline grace, something she'd learned from watching her father and her maternal grandmother, the latter of whom was a beautiful dancer. "Shall we start looking?" she asked playfully.

"Fine," Karloff chuckled in his deep voice. Diavolus scurried toward him and up his leg onto his back as he stood up. He mused for a moment, "You're family does sound quite...fierce. But none of that is quite the same as looking like a skinwalker?"
Karloff felt a bit worried despite Ailbhe's protests that her family would love him. He hoped that was right, but it had been a long time for him to even allow himself to love Ailbhe because of how hideous he felt. He couldn't blame anyone for disliking him for the same reason.
"We should," he purrs lightly as he rubs his face against hers. "I want us to find our forever home."

Ail shrugged. "What my family considers important is what's inside you. And if anyone can be racist against skinwalkers or those who look like skinwalkers, they can also be racist against mutants who have features like a pure skinwalker, right? And I have heard that pure catwalkers really do have cat tails and fangs and could even have cat ears, and don't you dare tell me otherwise," she said, nuzzling him affectionately back while purring.
Stepping to his side, turning around, and tucking herself against the much larger stallion's side, she grinned and looked up at him, rubbing her head against his sable neck. "Well then, we'd best be going, shall we? It may take some time to pick out the perfect den."

Karloff purred contently as she rubbed against his side, his perfect little feline. "You're right, you're right," he laughs. "To raise such a beautiful daughter as open and honest as you, they have to be good and understanding."
He purrs gently up against her, "But no one is like you. You're purr-fect," he purrs against her her. "But we should, it will take us some time to find a place we agree on."
