Between Detentions and classes and plotting and mistaken windows and nefarious projects, Christof had not visited Barth in some time. It occurred to him that the ramifications of this might be terrible- he would bet there would be stacks and heaps to deal with, but no matter. He owed it to the Demon after all, and intended on keeping his word. Besides, he had a new favor to ask of him.
Dragging his ladder out of the bushes next to the demon dorms, he made SURE it was the correct window this time before carefully leaning it up and ascending. Hopefully the Sloth remembered not to lock his window.

Barth was on his couch, fiddling with a device Christof had constructed for him earlier. It worked by remote, and normally allowed him to open the door without having to get up to do it.
It had suffered some abuses lately, however, and was leaking. Barth tampered with one of the screws, squinting. Really, what it needed was a more robust design. He hadn't counted on demons barging in bodily. Most of them liked to slither, or gracefully float. Christof didn't even use the door.
He had his boots propped up on the couch arms.
The doorway was just a minor thing, anyway. He, like Christof, had an idea wriggling away at him.

The hunchback landed heavily amongst the mess, nostrils flaring in disgust at the way the demon seemed keen on just tossing *anything* *any old place*. With a sigh, he kicked some candy wrappers closer towards the bin before shrugging out of his backpack to dig for his notebook as he approached his Master. Pulling it out and flipping to a specific page, he turned to the next, blank one before scribbling out:
Your Jollymeal leftovers look mutated. Also: Had question...?
Why he bothered to not just write out the question to begin with was a wonder, but he still liked to be polite at least. He eyeballed the remote, brows furrowing as he wondered what on earth could have happened to it. Whatever it was wasn't his fault, he was fairly sure.

Barth looked up from the piece of device to read Christof's note. Must be serious, if Christof wasn't fooling around with charades.
"Yes. I've been keeping it around the apartment. I named it Lunch. ...What sort of question?"

Stitched lips pursed in concentration, he set the notebook down on the arm of the chair by Barth's feet to scribble out:
I understand you have your Plans, Master, but a friend of mine is in a predicament I thought perhaps we could possibly help out with-
He held up the note before flipping the page to a rather haphazardly drawn design of what something like the horrible mountain beast from Christmas Town that had burned and boiled them alive, only with a square drawn around it, and what could possibly be a stick-figured ghoul with half a skeleton face cheering with flowers and hearts around her in the corner.
The hunchback kept his eyes locked on his Master, brows raised hopefully.

"Is that a dragon? Err, normally I'm all for favors, but dragon-slaying is a little out of my boundaries. At least I think it is. There are some dragons in a few of my classes. I wonder if there's some inherent rivalry? I guess I could stir them up a bit. Start a nasty rumor. ...Feels like a bit of a risky endeavor, though. Even for saving, err, maidens. That is a maiden there, isn't it?"
Barth rolled over onto his stomach, pointing to said maiden.

Christof glowered, his mouth twisting into a scowl as he quickly labeled his drawing with "Miss Amrita" and "Her horrible Death Charm Pet" and "Containment box for Horrible Death Charm Pet" before shoving it back at him, before making motions with his hands- the box would only need to be about this tall, and this wide, and this deep. The question was, could Barth do it?

"Oh. You want a pet carrier? That's much easier. Than dragon-slaying."
He'd built more complex things than boxes. That's what Christof needed his help with? That shouldn't be too difficult. Actually, he had been needing a containment device for Colette's carrots.
Two birds with one stone, and he didn't even have to throw it.
"I can do it. Just the designing, though, not the building. And it will mean a small extension on the duration of our Contract."

Christof wove a hand dismissively. If it meant spending time with his lackluster Master ACTUALLY working on inventions, he was quite pleased to do so. The important part he didn't seem to get, though, involved an addition of lots of squiggly lines drawn around the box while the hunchback made growling noises in his throat. That added, he pointed urgently.

Christof shook his head, glowering further before trying his hardest to make a roar, which sounded more like a muffled sort of donkey's bray as he raised his fingers to wiggle them away from his mouth as though breathing fire. Or so he hoped the Sloth would guess.

Normally, the gesture would have been baffling, but they were just talking about dragons.
"Ah. Fire-proof box. That might mean a smidge more adjusting. At least if I want to make one that won't also set the floor on fire. Alright, count me in. I know what we can test the containment capabilities of the box on, anyway."

Christof brightened considerably, beaming at the Sloth Demon before giving him a hearty clap on the shoulder. He immediately turned on his heal to rummage through Barth's junk piles, already fishing for parts in his excitement to get started. Right right they'd need.... what would they need? Some sort of fire proof glass he supposed...

"We'll want ceramic," Barth said not able to read his mind but eerily on the same page, "or brick. But since it's for...err, Amrita, you said? Minimize the weight. Needs to be easy for her to open, but not the charm."
He looked up at Christof.
"...We have a deal?"

The hunchback turned, glancing warily at Barth's hand with a plumbing part in his hand (why had Barth kept that in his room anyway? Suddenly he dreaded checking on the bathroom) and shifted it to accept the Sloth's claw. A deal. As always. So long as Amrita didn't have to sleep on the floor anymore.
