They were not a couple. They were barely even friends. Really they were more like business partners. So why in the world did it feel so much like they were newly weds picking out their first home together?
Lorenna was barely able to suppress her exasperated sigh as the pink haired mare poked her nose into every nook and cranny that the cave they stood in had to offer. This was the tenth cave they had been into today. The flutter mare had insisted that they would need more space to operate out of in the not so distant future. She deeply regretted opening her mouth now. All Lorenna had wanted was a bigger cave that she could move around in without worrying about stepping on a crow's foot or Wolf's tail. Naturally Carmine, her 'boss', had had a few things that she wanted as well. That included sleeping in, loafing around for an hour before departure, whining when Lorenna dragged her out and then sniffing around every cave for who knows how long to find the 'perfect place'.
The sun was going down now. They had been out all day and Carmine still had not picked a place. Lorenna's milky pink eyes glanced warily towards the mouth of the cave. If anything mean came in then Carmine was screwed. Lorenna would shrink and get away of course. She was no body guard. "Miss Carmine are you quite finished here?" She inquired doing her best to be patient. "We are losing light quickly and it would be best if we headed back soon."
"Yeah, yeah...in a bit! I'm lookin at somethin here!" Came the disinterested reply.
Lorenna wondered if anyone would care if the boss just suddenly went missing.

Amakehs Olomamusikte was out and about, wandering around from her caretaker's cave. Her scent was heavily saturated in the scent of decay and dirt after being repeatedly buried alive under the her caretaker's collection of corpses. It didn't help that she was half open that she would also smell like the metallic scent of blood. Since her scent was so pungent with so many foul scents, it was hard to miss her coming into an area.
The young filly did not mind it. The scent of death often made her comfortable, especially since she had been "incubated" under the corpses while in her basket. She was used to the scent, and was not aware that it was even a "foul" scent.
With the sun going down now and temperatures lowering with the setting of the sun, if she wanted to last the night, she needed to find something warm or somewhere. Her body was poorly circulated, and because of this, she was susceptible to getting colder faster than a normal Soquili. To fix this problem, she would usually sleep within the warm confines of her caretaker's pile of corpses, but since the cave was too far off, she had to find another option.
Killing something was always an option, but it would have been much more beneficial if she had used the energy during the day to track and kill something rather waiting for sunset. And for her to find a nice sized prey, they would need to be much bigger to encase her smaller than average body like a cocoon, and that would mean a large use of her energy. That idea did not seem viable at this time.
Pondering her option, her ears picked up the sound of voices. Her bright orange orbs widened, before she grinned. Maybe she found a solution after all. The young filly stalked after the noise, pondering where it came from. Listening carefully, she continued to follow after it before seeing that it led her to a cave. Perfect. She would not need to corner her prey, the cave would do it for her. Her spaded tail wagged behind her in delight as she moved to the middle of the mouth of the cave, and peered into it trying to identify her prey.

((Fixed it. When I started the rp she was still a foal on her cert. XD))
Much to Lorenna's surprise Carmine was the first to notice that anything was off. She ceased her poking around and sniffed the air deeply a few times. Her nostrils flared as her face scrunched up with distaste. "What is that?" She asked straightening up. "There better not be a dead rat over here..."
Lorenna would have rolled her eyes had she not picked up on the scent as well. Though what her boss seemed to be missing was the scent was not coming from inside the cave at all. It was drifting in from outside. She turned her gaze back to the opening and instantly regretted turning away in the first place. There was something standing there. Something strange. Something decaying. Something...surprisingly very much alive.
She blinked slowly to confirm that what she was seeing was not some boredom induced hallucination. When it did not go away she could only conclude that the creature, whatever it may be, was actually there. "Carmine...now might be a good time to get your nose out the the back. I believe I found your "rat" up here."
Great, so there really was a rat. They should have brought one of their crows. "I don't wanna see it Lorenna..." Carmine grumbled as she turned her head to look where the flutter was. No matter what happened it was generally better to see what Lorenna was even if it was gross. What she saw this time, however, made her jump out of her skin. "What the hell is that?!" She managed to cry out in a great garbled mess. Her wings flared out as she took a step backwards. Cool under pressure she was not.
